    On my "keep & use" 123R (& Optimus 80), I added some fiberglas wicking [carbon felt is best] around the burner to hold preheat fuel. Otherwise an old Coleman 502 would be great alternative if you don't mind the weight & bulk.

    • @charlesartificer2158
      @charlesartificer2158  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a 502. it's very nice but not something I would ever backpack with. car camping sure. that's why these smaller format stoves interest me so much. Thanks for the comment and views!

    Thank you for another excellent review. It seems that this is a good quality product. Definitely has a lot of value to it. However, without a windscreen or a blocking device, it could hamper its use, especially with the silent head. The roaring head seems easier to get started and to control. Like you said….it just depends on what your preference is.
    Congratulations on having your first 1k subscribers. You are on your way 😊

      Thanks PP. Yes it's a very nice stove works very well. If you don't mind the Roaring head style than the ebay one is by far the better value. Plus you get a windscreen. But you don't get spare parts. So it boils down to what an individual thinks is best for them. Got some more videos coming on the stoves so hope you stick around. Have a great night.

    A 3-inch piece of plastic drinking straw can be used to extract fuel from the tank. Just put your finger over the top to hold the fuel inside until you're ready to release it.

    • @charlesartificer2158
      @charlesartificer2158  ปีที่แล้ว

      I found a 3" piece of fuel line works better. Plus in some states possession of a plastic drinking straw is a horrible crime according to some people.

    Other reviewers have said that the "silent" burner is nearly useless! The blast-furnace burner works great. Boils water very fast and can be adjusted down to a medium simmer.

    Looks better than the cheapo Indian kerosene pressure stoves anyway.

    Also please note: the mix of stove material [stainless, aluminum, brass] can and WILL result in "electrolytic corrosion". Just a question of "when" NOT "if"! Old swedish, european, and Coleman stoves lasted (&still do) so long because they didn't mix metals to prevent this. Those OLD swedes and colemans were made to "pass on" to your great-grandkids ! NOT so the cheap chinese stuff.
    TIME is the "true" test of quality !!

      Its a fun little thingy that shows you at which point your water is pasteurized and safe to drink since boiling is overkill and a waste of fuel.
      Of course people typically filter their water to make it drinkable .

      @charlesartificer2158  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @martinerhard8447 Ahhh ok. Never knew such a thing existed. In the Army here we had chemical tabs to purify water or were taught to boil for 5 minutes. Yes it is over kill and a waste of fuel. But I would rather have that than dysentery. Filters are cool but some of them cost a fortune.

    So the CCP has stolen the Svea 123 and made it with stainless steel and an aluminum cap? (not a good combination if you mis-thread it). The original svea burner cup works great but the silent burner cup has issues. I say, go buy the SVEA 123 and see if it fits in the cook kit for the G43.

      Thanks for the in depth review. For your cold starts,i'd invest in some denatured alcohol,it burns way hotter,slower, for a better prime,espfor silent burner,and your cold stuff,also good if you only have a little bit of fuel left,this can b saved for cooking only,if yr out and about,cold and hungry....thats normally when you run out of fuel !!!
      I saw these stoves a while back,wondered how they'd go. So you did the leg work for me. Thanks.
      I got 1 Max Sievert Svea123,1 Svea123 and 1 Svea123r. ('r' denotes cleaning needle in later models,not present in early Svea 123)
      They are brilliant,you will love it wheen you find one in the palm of your hand. Careful !!.....you will part with some cash soon after!!!
      Gonna hang on to the Swedish connection,easier access,better engineering,always fires, My oldest Svea is nearing 65 and powers!! It'll be going for another 100yrs. It will definately outlast me,whoever i bequeath it to...hee hee,it will outlast them too!!!

      I don't think the Svea 123 is made in Sweden anymore. Pretty sure it's made in Taiwan or something. Where I am in Canada on Amazon this stove is the same price as the Svea is so I would still go for the Svea but a lot of people have said the quality of the Svea's has gone drastically downhill
