yes, you'd leave the water running for the duration of the cycle, then turn off once your'e done.

Can you open the lid while the water is running or while it's washing?

The instructions suggest you don’t do that, just for safety reasons. But it is possible to open the lid while in progress, once you do that the machine will beep & stop washing; indicating that you should close it.

What adapter did you use on your faucet?

you honestly have to see which adapter your sink needs, male or female. once that’s determined you can head to Amazon to select a variety of diverters and adapters that best fits. there’s a link for diverters on my RCA washer video.
