Hi again ARIEL! Good info as usual. Always have thought your home was very quality built and is so nice. You did yours just at the right time before the tiny house thing caught on. And you're right you saved money and got better quality as standard. I know how much you've enjoyed yours and is just perfect for you. Pretty dress today! The color is super for the camera. Burley must be snoozing now as he's all used to you talking to a strange thing lol! Have a great day!!
Never stop making videos! I love all of them. I will be you one day! 4 more years til retirement. I’m slowly purging stuff. You inspire so many! Blessings to you!-Rhonda
You’ve done a marvelous job in getting this house to the point where you want it. If I wasn’t 70 yrs old I would do this myself. By the way that color dress looks great on you. Look forward to more videos.
You're right about doing your research when you're going to have a little home built. Check, double check and check again. It will save you a lot of heartache and maybe even money in the end. Great subject and video Ariel.
Great advice! Thank you for being so straightforward, honest and tackling real questions and issues with buying, owning and living in a tiny home and living that lifestyle.
I agree 100 %. And I also remember your report on your damaged stove and lousy service. Hmm. Which one would I do business with? Thanks again and happy holidays to you and Burley.
Thanks for the overall review on your Tumbleweed tiny home! I'm looking @ Incredible tiny homes out of Newport, Tn to build mine. Keep on keeping on Ariel🤐😁 BIGGUN

I"m in the process of building my own 16ft tiny house. I was inspired by you and I also watched Tiny house Customs religiously..... I love your home, but instead of a loft i have a murphy bed that converts into a couch and also has a dining table attached to the bottom of the murphy bed that folds out . I designed an built everything myself. I don"t have a youtube channel, so if you wanted to do a topic on different designs, your viewers could send you pictures of our tiny houses.... Ariel, I will echo all the wonderful comments others have made. I have been researching for a couple of years and will continue until I find the right builder for sure. I have about 6 years until I retire, and obviously things could drastically change in that amount of time, but I am counting on the tiny house market to continue if not grow during that time frame. I have a list of many builders that I continue "to study on" as you advised, but would like to ask if you would divulge the ones in Tennessee that you were also considering. If not, I understand, but I would like to think that I trust your wisdom in this area considering what you went through in building your own and your continued contact with others in this same field. Seeing that the "scenario" has changed somewhat with your tiny builder, wanting to consider who you also looked at and possibly trusted would be something I would like to look into as well as a consideration. Thanks for sharing your life with us so openly and for those of us whose dreams are to be living in a similar fashion. You are such an accomplished young lady who I admire and have a lot of respect for. Thank you again Ariel.
Thanks for the behind the scenes info - I always wondered. Years ago, when the main person doing tiny homes was Jay Schaefer, I carefully studied them (I have a background in the trades before I turned into a manager/bean counter) but I concluded that they were just too small for me. I want a small house (under 1000 sq ft) rather than a tiny house. Btw, what ever happened to the decorative corner post that ran between the porch deck and the overhang? I'm sure there's an interesting story behind it's disappearance.
Glad it's helpful! I appreciate anyone who takes the time and thought to right size their home to their particular needs. The post was in the way for moving anything in and out of the door. It came off the first day. :)
Ariel, Good video. It was nice seeing the pictures of the house as it was built. I started looking into options in 2009 but wanted something that I could move myself with my van with was limited to 5000 lbs towing weight. In 1973 I bought a 40 ft travel trailer part model in Cheyenne that I lived in for 2 years there and then moved it my self to Seattle with a Haul truck "Adventure in Moving" . Then I had a small car that I could put in the back of the truck. Back then that was living tiny.
So anyone wanting your place as it stands needs to wait until you have either moved on or died - as modern design is not what it used to be but the prices have increased even with inferior cladding and internal fixtures - cheers I'll keep that in mind should I ever need a tiny house! Cheers Ariel nice colour of blue that dress!!
Great house! I’m having one built by Incredible Tiny Homes in Newport TN by Randy Jones and his crew. They are excellent builders with dreary customer service. I’m excited about going tiny and have already downsized.

I have been watching your TH-cam channel for almost five years.I'm getting ready to move to Tennessee and build my own tiny house but I want it on a foundation I don't want it on wheels but I do want to build with good materials. I love that wreath that you put above your kitchen .
Best wishes with working toward making your dreams happen! Just make sure you check the minimum size requirements in the area you're looking at as if you're not on wheels you will need to deal with that. If you are on wheels, generally that's the DMV's department rather than the building codes that locality has adopted which often specify a minimum of 800-1200 square foot homes in many locations.
You did well choosing to have your home built by professionals, you got the things you wanted , not all people have all skills, sure you could learn but there is the time factor, good choices 😄
Love your dress, looks good on you. Love hearing about your tiny home, and all that incurred with build. Shame to hear tumbleweed is not as quality build as they use to be. Thanks Ariel!
As I said, the company I bought from was wonderful! I can't give any personal feedback about the current company as I have no experience with it and as near as I can tell, other than the name, it's a totally different company.
I lived tiny for about 10 years, but only 8 to 10 months out of the year. My tiny was about 350 square feet and was quite comfortable. I still have my tiny, but now live mostly in a conventional home. Prior to living in my tiny, I spent about 10 years part time (only semi-retired) on a boat that was actually slightly larger than my tiny, with 3 decks, two staterooms, full galley, 3 exterior lounging areas, full head, hot and cold running water (within limits of tanks). I was off grid on the boat and enjoyed it immensely. When I wanted a different view, I just got underway and anchored in a different bay. Comfortable boat living is a bit more expensive than tiny home living, insurance, fuel, cost of the vessel ($250,000 in my case), moorage when not in use, generator, 8 batteries, waste disposal for holding tanks. I still think about returning to tiny living, but have not decided yet on a location my tiny is in Oregon, my conventional home is in Arizona and I boated in the Puget Sound and inland waters of Canada. It is an awesome way of life. I really enjoy all that you share about your tiny living. Thank you for taking everyone along on your journey. Keep up the excellent work.
I have decided to go off grid after I turn 18 and I was wondering if you knew the people who own the land you live on as well as if there are any good lots/land for cheap in WY. It's one of the best places to stay for off grid living and one very beautiful
Thank you that was great.. I kinda wondered about some of that information.. For some reason I didn't think you built it, several ladies are doing just that , building tiny houses.. 30,000 happy followers to your channel, good for you , I can understand why as you do some neat stuff..
@@FyNyth What kinda got me interested was two lady's started building one, it was outstanding what they did. They went on to build more tiny houses . Ya neat.
That was very interesting for sure. I knew your water tank was in the blind corner of your kitchen, but never gave thought as to where your hot water heater was at till this video. It was interesting seeing the kitchen area with nothing there. It has evolved a lot over time.
And you know the details of my kitchen better than most! :) Some of that evolution being directly thanks to your efforts. Thank you again, I love my cabinets every time I look at them.
Isn't it a shame when companies make changes to the materials they us. It was fortunate that you got your house when you did, it's a beautiful tiny home. What a beautiful blue you are wearing, it really suits you.
I think the wall, floor and ceiling insulation in your tiny house on wheels or just a tiny house is a big advantage over a mobile home/ trailer plus the right air circulation in winter time, my personal preference would be to have (off grid) septic system and maybe a well with at least a large storage tank that could be filled via generator or solar.
Yeah, I'm still in the theoretical dream as a carpenter/ builder. you are proof it's doable, think with a little effort and in the right area you could almost live a fairly modern life .
Great video as usual Ariel. I love your home and I could tell it is a quality build from the windows they used and the roof materials. I have learned so much from your videos. We are finally in our tiny (one month in already, how time flies!) If you ever want to visit our tiny, please PM me and I would love to finally get to meet you in person. :)
Aww that is so exciting! I hope everything has worked out just as you planned. That would be fun if I'm ever traveling your way, remind me what general direction that is?
@@FyNyth We did encounter some set back just like many other tiny housers but the crew came out and have fixed the problems. We are in North Carolina currently. :)
Hi, thanks for your informational videos, especially on the solar setup. I am wondering about tiny house placement. Did you have to camp out in an RV park for awhile before finding your current location? I am planning on building a Cypress 20 and am ready to start building but am having trouble finding a spot other than an rv park to place it once it's finished. I live in Alaska and zoning codes are strict in this part of the state as they are very well, - anti-trailer I guess you could say. Seems to be the biggest hurdle for current and aspiring tiny housers. Thanks!
I believe that “tiny house” means having what you need. True for housing and things. With that said I just bought a 4,900 sq ft house on 5 acres as I can put my growing business in it. When the company takes over I can build personal home on the grounds.
Ariel, how do you protect the under side of the house where the tires are in the winters. Been watching you for about 2years & never realized it had tires. Your winters are brutal & pretty wet. Thanks
The entire underside of the trailer is a solid sheet of metal so there is nothing there to protect. Our winters are long and deep, but generally very dry as not many things can manage to be wet when the temps are below zero. :)
It's sad that people don't check products out before buying. It's so easy to do today with the internet. Your tiny home is one of the most comfortable, homey and attractive THs I've ever seen...and I've seen hundreds, thanks to TH-cam. Missed seeing Burley. Many people let their pets sleep with them (I did...dog...which sadly I no longer have). Does Burley sleep with you? If so, how does he get up to the loft? Just gotta add, that dress is beautiful and you look stunning in it...! Tres chic...!
Sometimes. Sometimes he seems to prefer the couch or mat in front of the door, it's up to him. Mostly I think he likes the door if it's warm, and the bed if it's cooler. I lift him up and down. Very sorry for your loss, a good companion is always hard to see pass.
@@FyNyth Thank you! We don't have kids, but for us it felt like loosing a child. We had to go through such loss twice. Still, I'd love to have another dog while my partner doesn't want to go through that pain again. But I feel like the joy they give and we return to them is such a delight, plus we've saved a dog's life. That their sweet lives are so short compared to ours is sad...my philosophy is that consciousness survives death because of a NDE when I had a heart attack in 2007.
Personal body fitness? Probably by eating whole foods, drink clean water, do lots of physical stuff from backpacking to snow shoveling, to wood splitting, to water carrying, etc. :)
Fy Nyth Hi Ariel I apologize for this question not being relevent to this video. I was wondering if you think mixing some hardwood into your supply of aspen and pine would help you in not having to clean your stove stack and chimney as much. The idea being that the hardwood would burn hotter and keep soot from collecting from the aspen and pine. I know you don’t have hardwood trees near you, I was hoping you might be able to find junk hardwood pallets near you. Not sure you’d be interested or not, because they are heavy and probably have nails, making them dangerous, but maybe it’s a good experiment?
I doubt it. Most of the pallets available in this area are softwoods as well for one. But I think the biggest problem I have is just how cold it is outside and how small my whole setup is. There's just not that much hot air going up the chimney and when it's 100 or more degrees colder outside compared to inside, it cools that small volume of air very fast. I definitely notice needing to clean it faster when it's really cold compared to only cool outside.
Interesting - the making of the tiny house, since I do not know much about trailer house. It's a good and splendid idea to have a long and spacious kitchen relatively even though it's a tiny house. I, too, enjoy cooking. :) I've determined that my new year resolution for the coming 5 years is "Downsizing!" You influenced me a lot, of course. Well, by that I do not necessarily mean downsizing my house but rather life style and reducing my personal belongings such a s books, clothes, furniture... at least I will no more increase. When you want to buy a new one, you have to reduce at least one of the similar items. That's what I'm thinking. Simple life was a sort of virtue of my country but I, for one, completely forgot about it and learned anew from your videos. Thanks indeed, Ariel. Incidentally, you added a curtain at the entrance to the loft. Is it for keeping the bedroom warm?
Keeping clutter you don't use out of your life is very possible no matter the size of your home. Though I do think it's easier in a small place, just because there's no where to put anything else. :) Best wishes with whatever you do. The curtain is actually to keep the heat out of where I sleep. I prefer temps around 45F. for sleeping. :)
There are so many used tiny homes for sale, that unless you are planning to build one yourself, why not just buy a used one. That way you can see how the house has held up over time. Tiny homes listings has both used and I think new. You can save a lot of money and time buying used and of course see the finished product as it has aged.
I first thought about a teeny house many years ago at that time it was only $2,000 to build. So I decided to buy a $1,500 40-foot bus and I built it myself for under 1000
There is a company called incredible tiny homes on wheels just put that on the search bar on TH-cam and you'll find a whole load of videos Randy Jones he's the only one of all the companies out there that puts his face on TH-cam of what he's doing with the company his prices are very reasonable Tumbleweed is too expensive
@@FyNyth actually I'm not building my own but I'm definitely going to get one from incredible tiny I'm going to get an RJO 24-foot folder and the rest I can finish is the cheapest way to do it than building myself
Jay the Grandfather of the Tiny House Movement still warmly talked about . The Classic photo ( his book ) of Jay sat on his porch in the middle of a road behind a stationary tow vehicle is legendary and inspired many people to own there own Tiny Home on Wheels .A photo that said so many things with no words . I "believe" Jay,s detailed plans are still available to purchase which i once read where fabulous and easy to follow with all the steps and dimensions . Even in the UK we are aware of the great build quality of the Amish people and there respect for Wood .
Fascinating, good lessons in common and cautions for people to be aware off. Is your water heater an instant on type? and how happy have you been with your hot water temperature during extreme cold weather? Also what success have you had keeping critters out from under the house, particularly in the winter.
No my water heater is a 10 gallon tanked propane heater. My water temp is great. Though I have had friends visit with their tiny house. Which had an on demand heater and with how cold the well water is here, it could barely get it to being lukewarm. I don't recommend them for cold areas. Chipmunks etc freely run under the house, but nothing has ever tried to stay.
As I said, the company I bought from was wonderful! I can't give any personal feedback about the current company as I have no experience with it and as near as I can tell, other than the name, it's a totally different company.
It almost never rains in my area. Usually about three inches per year. Almost all our precipitation is snow. You can see all the details of my water system in this video th-cam.com/video/t2gl-lPSdgc/w-d-xo.html
Nice dress 👗... Your home is sweet too 😆 👌😎👍. Think you have a quality build there probably the best. Everything built after is just cheaper no longer quality. Plastics and composite. No good for the environment really.
Mahil Jan I think her very first video is a quick tour and there is a later video about 30 min long created by fellow u tubers I think" Expidition tours"?? Both are excellent videos

You still had Grizzly for a while, then she was gone, then came Burley, your soulmate! Was that 3 years ago or toward the end of 3 years or ??? Anyway I still hope to see them all, I think you have 4 years of videos? Blessings to you and Burley! 👩🦰🐕❤️❤️🙏😊
Thanks! You can find all the videos on the channel under the "videos" tab on the channel home page, listed in chronological order if that's helpful. Right here - th-cam.com/channels/aLQEHLG8SPlICSdxyCGCXA.htmlvideos
Sounds like you have a pretty nice setup going right now!
Yeah I have several lady, and male, friends who have built their own and I think that's great!
@@FyNyth What kinda got me interested was two lady's started building one, it was outstanding what they did. They went on to build more tiny houses . Ya neat.
wow...
THANK YOU FOR SHARING! P.S. I LIKE BLUE!
Hi Ariel .... would love to have this type of home !!!! Yours is very pretty !
Why thank you!
Best wishes with working toward making your dreams happen!
Nice. No plans to head to NC at the moment, but if I ever do, I'll keep that in mind!
@@FyNyth totally understand. It is a long drive for sure. At the mean time I will continue to enjoy your videos. :)
Very interesting video and Great advice, thank you Ariel.
she is so practical.
that's rare, me thinks
Good info. Love the wreath above the kitchen. Your work?
Thanks! Yes it is.
Thank you - very informative!
Great channel!!
GRATITUDE
Hi Ariel 👋
⚓
Hi, thanks for your informational videos, especially on the solar setup. I am wondering about tiny house placement. Did you have to camp out in an RV park for awhile before finding your current location? I am planning on building a Cypress 20 and am ready to start building but am having trouble finding a spot other than an rv park to place it once it's finished. I live in Alaska and zoning codes are strict in this part of the state as they are very well, - anti-trailer I guess you could say. Seems to be the biggest hurdle for current and aspiring tiny housers. Thanks!
Nice House!
I don't wanna watch this because I like to believe elves built Ariel's tiny house.
If I happen upon any elves building tiny homes, I will definitely make a video for all of you!
Êi Fy Nyth, você ficou linda com esse vestido azul. Aliás, tudo em você fica bem, refletindo o seu alto astral. Adorei o vídeo. Ate breve, desligo.
never noticed it was a triaxle. nice.
Yep!
awsum dress. i think im goin the shiping container route. those tiny homes r not cheap
Best wishes with whatever you decide to do!
How did you end up in Wy from living in Pa ?
In a little Toyota Camry. ;) For real, I just decided I wanted to live around bigger mountains, less people, etc. so I moved.
@@FyNyth That's awesome good for you 👍
I believe that “tiny house” means having what you need. True for housing and things. With that said I just bought a 4,900 sq ft house on 5 acres as I can put my growing business in it. When the company takes over I can build personal home on the grounds.
Congrats on the growing business! For sure, different things have different space needs.
nice place
Good morning Ariel!
Hope you enjoyed your day!
9:23 Yay! A fellow Pennsylvania native, in exile. 😉
Little off topic.. You may want to put tires in storage and soak them with 303 marine treatment. Tires will dryrott
They will eventually for sure.
Do you plan on putting your home on a permanent foundation when at your new homestead?
No, I plan for it to always have the option to move. There would be no benefit to me or the house to do anything else.
Blue is your color :)
How you keep it so good condition year in year out? Well main mdm 🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍
Personal body fitness? Probably by eating whole foods, drink clean water, do lots of physical stuff from backpacking to snow shoveling, to wood splitting, to water carrying, etc. :)
What are the things you have found out that you would change since you have lived in yours for awhile?
Check out this video on exactly that topic! th-cam.com/video/cHYfqtb_L0E/w-d-xo.html
I've determined that my new year resolution for the coming 5 years is "Downsizing!" You influenced me a lot, of course.
That can be a great option! Especially for used, Tiny House Listings is the place to go!
Nice work on building your own place!
@@FyNyth actually I'm not building my own but I'm definitely going to get one from incredible tiny I'm going to get an RJO 24-foot folder and the rest I can finish is the cheapest way to do it than building myself
I was actually replying that to Rhubarb Alamode, :) But also, best wishes with whichever route you choose as well!
He is a wonderful man and I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with him.
t must be wonderful sleeping under the stars
Just watched a very interesting video over on Mercola channel about Oxalates in Plants .
Seems Popeye Cartoon was not good advice .
😊
How do you do your laundry?

I didn’t see the cost?
Tumbleweed good homes but expensive. Still around
As I said, the company I bought from was wonderful! I can't give any personal feedback about the current company as I have no experience with it and as near as I can tell, other than the name, it's a totally different company.
Have you ever thought of catching rain water for everything but drinking?
It almost never rains in my area. Usually about three inches per year. Almost all our precipitation is snow. You can see all the details of my water system in this video th-cam.com/video/t2gl-lPSdgc/w-d-xo.html
It's unfortunate that tumbleweed is no longer the same as they used to be when the original owner
Did it

Nice dress 👗... Your home is sweet too 😆 👌😎👍. Think you have a quality build there probably the best. Everything built after is just cheaper no longer quality. Plastics and composite. No good for the environment really.
Enjoy your date. You look all dressed up for a date......as my pappy used to say..."You clean up well".

Yeah I'm contacted on an almost daily basis by various similar offers and have been since almost day one. I just ignore them all. Sponsorships aren't my thing anyway. If there was another video site that was run better (free for viewers, freedom to create and watch whatever you choose, a way for creators to earn money, unlimited hosting) than youtube, I'd be happy to move.

Tumbleweed is no longer building in as good what I hear is there building in matter particle board most materials on the inside plus their prices are outrageous if any one of you is looking for good quality and very reasonable priced put it on TH-cam search bar incredible tiny homes on wheels Randy Jones is the owner and he talks on TH-cam videos everyday Monday through Friday he builds them custom however you want it he also has two models out of base price 16-footer rjo 15000 thousand that's not a bad price his freedom Style comes with everything that you need refrigerator stove mini split air conditioner 25000 thousand you all should check it out very good price and welled build Newport Tennessee he's also building a tiny home community should I say more
TOM ARCHER agreed. No matter how well built it is not considered ‘real property’ in the legal sense.
@@CatskillsGrrl yes very true but remember the mindset of the people who live in tiny homes on Wheels is to be debt-free and to be able to own a home and not be homeless and remember history repeats itself again and again people just don't learn we are going to hit another recession eventually is better to have a tiny home then no home
