I used 6.5" of elastic but here are the modifications I might make. For the shorter piece of fabric that encases the elastic, I'd make it longer so that there's more give when trying to put the headband on. 6.5" of elastic was too loose (it was a gift), so I might use 5-5.5" depending on how snug you like it. If you want to skip that hassle, I suggest a shortcut of only cutting the long piece of fabric, and using a 1" wide elastic with no fabric covering. It won't look as nice without the ruched fabric cover, but will be very quick to make!

Your video is really easy to follow and makes inserting the elastic and folding over the fabric very simple! I wish I had found it when I first tried the headband pattern!
I just finished making one of these as my first ever small sewing project! It was so easy to follow and I'm so happy with it for my first try so thanks for the tutorial. I will definitely be making many more of these 🥰
This is a very small headband, my head measures 25" and my neck only 13". This headband with these measurements only goes to 23". I'd add at least 2.5" to overall length so you can get it on. It's a nice headband though.
Great tutorial but I think you missed out the measurements of the elastic which is crucial to the makings of the headbands since the fabric of the back cloth depends on the width of the elastic
My headband came out well but somehow it was not large enough (and I don't have a huge head or anything ;)). But also I think I did something incorrectly when it came to adding the elastic. I think the video does not specify what length of elastic to use, so maybe I screwed up here...
LOL, I am so useless! I couldn't even reverse the fabric with the safety pin and gave up at that! lolol. I must say, though, this was the easiest video to follow and understand the instructions (my problems at following them are another story...)
maybe you have bought a headband where eveything fits perfectly and then you can just measure that. Or try one piece with trial and error first with bed sheet fabric for example and use the end result measurements

What size elastic works best
My elastic was originally 0.8 inches thick, but I cut it to make it thinner. The elastic ended up being around 0.5-0.6 inches wide
Stretch your elastic to see how much you need so at full pull it's as long as the little piece that it goes inside
