    And I like it thick too! I’ll definitely try your version this weekend.

    A great recipe. So easy to prepare. I made it with cubes of pork shoulder I browned first and used chicken broth instead of chicken bullion. I also added some chopped celery. With the garnishments of hot chili crunch, cilantro and green onions and crispy onions it was exceptional. I can see why you have such great memories of your Mom cooking this for you when you a little girl.

    • @HouseofXTia
      @HouseofXTia  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes as long as you use small ones. you can par-boil them before adding them to the soup if you want them extra tender. i recommend 10 min par-boiling :)

    • @HouseofXTia
      @HouseofXTia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it can be made with brown rice and you may need to add water and increase the cooking time. i would experiment with a small batch of rice just to see how it firms up and then you will have a better idea on cooking time :)

  • @phayvanhphetsangharn

    A lot of haters here. Sen added to the title is just noodles. It's more common to just make the rice version because people have more access to grains then noodles. Khao is rice... so adding another word behind piak doesnt make any different unless its Sen which is noodles lol. Who cares if its lao
    or Hmong but this is khao piak. To me it's just weird adding khao again when it's already in the name. If she made a noodle version, just add sen but wow. Just be happy that the dish is still around. The traditional original dish is the noodle version which lao people leave the word Sen out.Good video!
