High taxation isn’t good for gdp growth. Yes it’s good for early economy but when you get in a comfortable position, lower your taxes instead of building more building sectors. Lowering taxes increases SOL. Thus raising demands for consumer goods and it helps immensely in social mobility and education access.
As a native French speaker, I have to say that your pronunciation of "laissez-faire" is actually the best I've heard from an anglophone. It's pretty much perfect. Also, I would like to see the rest of this campaign.
It would have actually been possible for you to get portugal at 7:26. There exists a mechanic called reverse sway wich works like this. If you have a relative large army (conscripts count even if not raised) scare the AI. You can use this by demanding what you want from a country and then imediatly siding with the enemy. This will cause the AI to get scarred due to enemy suddenly having way more power (due to you) causing them to accept your demands. This is especially powerful if you use this to get free bankrolls from great powers like Britain, France and USA. They are fairly easy to pick by having interests in texas (for USA), north africa (for france) and for brittain basically everywhere, but the easiest one being south china at the beginning of the game. Why did you keep taxes on high when you filled up your reserves when you could have lowered them and benefited from the growth and the increase in loyalists?
@@SmithySmith he forgor 💀 But it does help to keep your taxes as low as physically possible so your (especially poorer) pops spend less on taxes and more on goods and services while you tax the things rich people are most likely to consume (wine, art, luxury furniture, etc.). That way you get increased pop wealth which leads to higher access to education for better pops, higher SoL and literacy, etc. And as for the budget, if you’re not at a (manageable) deficit, you’re not doing good enough. Definitely don’t go into debt as an unrecognized/minor power because interest on debt will kill you, but if your revenue is in the green, you’re not spending enough
It doesn't really matter that much, because the reserve is actually a soft cap, not a hard cap. You keep accumulating money even when the bar is full. The only downside is that your profit starts decreasing the more you get beyond that.
So as a monarchy, you can do something a little silly. If you can find a way to really piss of the Intelligentsia enough to revolt, you can abdicate witch will give you an event that basically lets you skip the reform process entirely.
