They are all really fkn cool looking if you ask me, the brick looking one was still really great good color choice
A row is an up and down zigzag on the pattern, but only half the beads are put on each row. I would start with the color on the first bead in the pattern (you can just pick one, cuz its repeating, right?) Once you get that on, the next bead will be two columns over. The pattern is organized in columns, but they zig zag up and down. So the next bead will be two columns over, one zig down and then the zig back up is your next color. I've got several videos that break it down, you might want to start with one of them. If you need more help let me know. I don't bead anymore but I still help people that are learning.
Hey, i haven't seen much in the way of starting or ending a string. Any advise? Also, on your two row have you done it without the border (black) and if so how did it turn out.
you do beautiful beading..ive been beading for 20 years but mostly deal with swarovski...so im bored with it want a new challenge so here I am...thank you
Hey brother. Thank you for your videos. Awesome energy! I'm new to beading. Loving the bright colours and vibrant patterns. I'm using 10/0 beads but I'm noticing a lot of people using 11/0. Do you prefer one to the other? Still trying to get grounded with the whole concept. Anywho...Thank you for being you brother. I'll keep watching and learning
I've got the stuff already to do it, but I don't know that it would be that interesting. I might try one and see how it goes, though, thanks for the input!
Are usually big with the same kind of lighters but sometimes I get a little confused because one time low count 42 beads and it comes out OK hello another time it was I have to use like 46 and it’s the same big size 11 why is there
I love your lighter covers. I use Clipper lighters and can't quite get it right as clipper lighters get bigger as they go upwards. Any idea on what i can do
one of the requirements for tubular peyote to keep a repeating pattern is that the bead count is uniform. I would recommend trying to find some kind of sleeve that stays uniform but still fits the lighter on the inside. I'm not saying that exists, but maybe that will set your mind in different directions.
Lisa Owens Although I do not know how to explain their beading patterns, I think Van would recognize what you are speaking about he just does recognize the name - I have numerous pieces of Huichol art pieces gathered directly from these wonderful native friends I met while sailing and stopping over in San Blas Nayarit MX - traveling in to the mountains - Van, you know the Panther head, and some other pieces I have with the beads - those are from the Huichols.....Ma
***** Finally got to surfing around on it after I saw your comment, Mom. Wow, yeah, extremely vibrant work, I remember this look & feel. Awesome talent in the pieces I saw. Yeah, I'll just stick to my little stuff :).
VaniRex ... Yes, we watched some of your videos ... COOL to see a masculine man doing Peyote 💪🏻 Here, another TH-cam Channel where you will find great tutorials/ideas 😉 th-cam.com/video/zFOaibiJZOk/w-d-xo.html
+Ioannis Manousogianis There's not really a lot to it, especially when they are repeating patterns. Just understand that each new row will have moved one column to the right (or left, depending on how you execute). That's about it. One way to visualize is to draw a diagonal line either one direction or the other on a pattern.
Maby if you try using Les lines and some that actually connect together and just remove some off and maby try arangeing the color differently I do bead work and I see way more ways this can be done and to say only three ways possible try opening up to different ideas and make line your best friend and use drop stiching with colors and numbers to get the pattern your looking for you don't allways need to fallow basick math numbers just make Sher you got high and with and yo can make up anything amaginable with beads like litraly you could do 3d art with then but only having it one demention just some constructive criticism but nice work really pops
Manahuu! Yes you are an artist! Very creative thinker. I'm a beader, More than one kind of beader. How long have you been beading Van? I started beading as a kid in upstate N.Y,..lived on the Hoopa Res. in Cali. where I learned a new appreciation for beading. Lately I fell in love with metalsmithing and I'm finding there are endless possibilities in metal as well. Just have to let my mind go. I admire your work, not a numbers gal. which now after watching a couple of your vids...I realize holds me back some with designing! Your Mom sounds cool!
Deborah Bergen Mom's super cool (most of the time!). I've only been beading for a couple years, but being creative with numbers & stuff goes waaay back, like even to doing Legos and Light Bright, that kind of thing. Metalsmithing is super cool, too! Maybe you could make a video or post some stuff? Thanks again.
I know this is a dumb question......I've been beading for 17 years..LOL.. is 3x14 in inches? I have only begun using charts and graphs, it is a part of my heritage as a native American (Cherokee/Blackfoot/Creek).... I know Heinz 57, but I am proud!
Well, um, I don't actually know how to do that! There are other videos around which go 8nto that, and I have some other videos that go more into designing. Perhaps that will help?
your stuff is nice no doubt, but when i type in how to, i wish that i wouldnt get your videos, because you dont actully show me how to do it, you just talk alot and show what you did. ...nice work tho
+lillyof64 I get very 'how to' in a couple videos, check out th-cam.com/video/T78_eotLUdY/w-d-xo.html for a detailed step by step into doing tubular peyote. However, yes, you're right, most of my videos are NOT about execution, they're more about design, how does one go about thinkin' up new stuff. Sorry to waste your time :).
thanks that was very nice of you to go to that trouble, but I know how to do the stitch, its the patterns I am looking to learn. they seem to be impossible to find.

How do you transfer the pattern from the paper to actually doing the case an answer would be grateful

I’m new to this too. I wish he would have given more info on what he uses and colors etc. Very nice pattern.
U should do a time lapse vid of u making a cover or necklace. U can use the app hyperlapse, it's a really good app
I've got the stuff already to do it, but I don't know that it would be that interesting. I might try one and see how it goes, though, thanks for the input!
