    In what scenario would you use choose over xlookup .. I'm struggling to see the benefits of choose given you can't just use ranges so think I must be missing something?

    The disadvantage of CHOOSE is that you have to hardcode the number of options in the function which usually is bad practice. I only use it whenever I know there will never be more options and I don't want an unsightly lookup table in my file, like for example when calculating the end of the quarter for any given date.

    I run into a 254 value limit is there a way to add more values to exceed 254 value limit?

    How to use Choose function if the list is long...50. hard to key in individual value in the formula.

      Don't. Instead you could use FILTER()

    Why are you locking the cell? What may happen if I do not lock?

    • @ajayvishvanathan1991
      @ajayvishvanathan1991 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you dont lock, and you drag the formula to update, it'll also move the referenced cell in the same direction, it'll not pick up from that cell, it'll pick up values from the one below/beside it depending on which direction you drag the formula. Lock will ensure your input is constant.

    Great video for the function CHOOSE. Still not clear with XLOOKUP if you have multiple students with the same score...

      In that case you want to use FILTER and MTRANS ( so that they are displayed next to each other). MTRANS(FILTER($A$2:$A$28,$B$2:$B$28=H4))
