Navaja - how to hide a knife

Training methods knife fighting. We are working on restoration techniques of knife fighting Navaja in "manual del baratero" Spanish guide knife fighting of the 19th century. This is a duel battle between two opponents. The guide describes many tricks and dirty tricks.

Keep in mind, the martial art’s you’re talking about are mainly Japanese martial arts that in the early part of the 20th century became more about self improvement then self defense. Basically what Mr. miyagi taught. Before this, they were low down, dirty, and practical. The Spanish Navaja arts are pretty much still practical self defense. There is honor involved, but the focus is not so much improvement of character as it is improvement on f knife handling/fighting skills.

I have the Cold Steel Espada XL. It has a pocket deployable plate on the back of the knife, near the handle. So when you pull the knife from your pocket, it opens with a CLACK! I guess I could use my denim jacket in my off hand. I hope I never have too though.

Using your leather jacket as an arm guard is a forgotten bit of genius. It was really common in the 40's. Some guys would even stab holes in thiers, just to look like experienced knife fighters.
