The commercials are as fun as the show.
Wow, I haven't seen Classic Concentration for years, I used to watch it all the time in the summer as a kid, I wish they had it on Buzzr. It was this show that made me want to buy a Pontiac, and I did in 2007. Unlike in this episode, it always seemed like 75% of their cars were Pontiacs.

This episode was aired on August 17, 1987 according to the voice over at the end for Alf and Valerie's Family and the NBC Monday Night movie.
Yep, and it follows them retiring an undefeated champion (Dennis) on August 14, 1987.
Remember, there was a Technicians' Strike at NBC that lasted several months, hence no technical staff.
This show was taped in Burbank. Different unions.
This show used to tick me off because the hosts should have kept their mouths shut and not let on that a contestant might have seen a prize prior. It was a direct form of enabling. Jack Narz did this as well.

Freemantle Media should have picked up Classic Concentration along with the rest of the Goodson-Todman's library when they bought out GT, so it should turn up on Buzzr one of these days. Or maybe the Jack Narz version? As for bringing Concentration back, I've heard that NBC is working on it.

If they revealed #4, I wonder if it would have caused a glitch-the Wild card would keep opening and closing, but not revealing what was behind it. I read a similar scenario happened four years later-the Wild card was the one remaining square in a game, but it wouldn't leave the board entirely; it kept glitching.
A big win in this episode - Craig in the 1st part of this round has won $7,090.

I wonder if Mark Goodson called it 'Classic concentration', after Coke Classic'.
Mark Goodson did a couple of Concentration pilots with Orson Bean, but with a different format. So the show for NBC was called Classic and played just as the NBC original and the syndicated version hosted by Jack Narz, with the addition of the 🚗 round.
The automobiles in this episode:
Pontiac Le Mans (don't care much for it)
Ford Taurus (cool)
Subaru DL (not bad)
VW Golf (today's version of it was better)
Buick Skylark (now, THAT was a car)
Mercury Topaz (don't care for it)
Chevrolet Spectrum (don't care for it, either)
Toyota Corolla (was as lukewarm then as it is now)
I like all but the Le Mans and the Topaz.
The Skylark was the best car in this episode.

He hosted "High Rollers", the 1970's "Double Dare", the 1990's "To Tell The Truth", among others.
