I was only considering looking for a Echo Show 15, but now I've decide that I'm moving forward from considering to buying.. I have the Echo Show 10 in my kitchen and Love it, as it follows me around, whether I'm Chopping vegetables, or pulling items out from the Fridge. I got one for my Mom as well, so it's almost like she's helping me master her Secret Recipes even though we're in two different cities.
Ended up with both. Got the echo show 15 first and I use that in my kitchen. Got the echo show 10 just before Christmas. It replaced my echo show 8 in my living room and I moved the echo show 8 to my dining room to replace an echo show 5.
I’m very happy that you do these videos. Because of you, I purchase the Echo 10 now, because of you, I’m keep the Echo 10 and get the device that turns it. I love that. Thanks
I have the echo 15 and love its size and its great for watching my outdoor cameras,and when its in picture mode it blends in really well in the front room
I think that the Show 8 is better for me personally than either one of these. But, with the right skills, the 15 would be a great information board for motels, doctor’s offices, waiting rooms if all kinds. It plays music, can communicate (“Mr. Smith, your car is ready for pick up), can play media content for a commercial or for those who are bored, can give personalized information (Alexa, please call the front desk), and would allow staff to check the room to see who is there. Unfortunately it appears to remain unachieved potential.
Another great review / comparison. I have the first generation Echo Show 10 and find it is not working as swiftly as it should be... So looking to trade it in and get a new Echo Show 10. Like you I prefer to have the 10 over the 15... Once again appreciate your reviews & comments - you are good man!!
Great video, very thorough ! I just wished you added a last point on hacking and security. I feel a little concern about a device watching me, following me, recognising me, communicating info about me in real time. I know we already have devices the monitor our where about, our internet searches, what music we play and listen continuously. We also have security cam with face recognition. But the level of security can be different device to device and it would be interesting to know what Amazon has done for those devices and how can we best protect ourselves. I just want to be aware of the risk I’m taking.
I was excited for Show 15 I was going to put it in my kitchen on my wall but after watching a bunch of reviews I am going to wait for either some software updates or the next version. I wish Amazon would let it be a fire tv/show hybrid THAT would sell and be amazing! Let it be a TV when needed but a great Show when needed. That is what I want to see.
This functionality was actually just announced. An upcoming software update will allow you to do just that, operate the show 15 with a Fire TV remote and watch TV on it.

My Echo Show 8's keep popping up advertisements and there is no option to turn them off. Do the Echo Show 15's and Echo Show 10's have that same problem?
The Echo Shows reminds me of the complaints about the iPad Pros, great hardware, but an operating system that’s anything but pro. The shows can be great canvas, now Amazon need to hire developers that know wha to do with a brush.
i was looking forward to the release of the Show 15 to be honest, presentation was promising. but i'm glad i didn't go for the pre-order and decided to wait for reviewers like you on their inputs. yes it has great potential yet to uncover but as of this moment i'm happy with my Show 10 which has a great sound and a Zigbee hub.

I was eying small smart tvs for a while got the echo show 15 for $162 to me it was worth it. I like it but I can see why someone with an echo 10 has no need to upgrade especially with the speakers.
The only major issue with these devices is the browser timing out after 5 minutes and returning to the home screen as well as anything you pause like prime video if you don’t keep videos or music etc… playing you end up back on the Home Screen there is no command to resume. I have yet to see Amazon mention or address this major problem. Sometimes we need to pause longer than 5 minutes.
I want the 10 but those bezels just irk me. I’m going to wait for 4th gen to come out. If there’s no change in just going to be rocking with my 8 for a while
I love my echo show 5, 8, and 10 but I will pass on the 15. I've been trying to justify buying it but I can't. I didn't have a single Google device and I felt pretty bad so I bought the small Google nest hub so I could feel better about myself.
I recommend cutting out some cardboard to do a size check. I don't have a wall where it looks good. I am lean towards the Echo Show 10 now over the 15.
On the Echo Show 8 Gen 2 does anyone know if there is a way to get the clock out of the bottom left corner and move it to somewhere else like an upper corner?
Try as I might, I just can’t make a case for getting any of these devices, the interface is just so poorly optimised that I can’t get on board with either of them
I am with you about the interface. The just won't take advantage of the display. Had they made a dashboard, I might not have moved the smart home control to HomeKit.

It’s a shame. It leaves the door for Apple to make their Echo Show and destroy Amazons. Apple doubled their smart home share last year. It’s going to get bigger if Amazon doesn’t listen.

What I would like to do is to scan or type up her old recipes from her out of control recipe box and find a way for her to be able to pull them up by voice. Is that even possible? There are probably over 200 recipes. Also, with Amazon Photos Family Vault, can my sisters and I all push our photos to the Show, making it like a digital frame with unlimited storage? Can I do that with a Show 10 or a Show 15? After watching this video in leaning toward the 10, but only if it can also serve as a photo frame like the 15. Thank you so much for your help!!!!!
Lol, maybe it's the cheapskate in me but I still think a Fire tablet mounted on the wall would be better device for a kitchen. It's probably just not the device for me. What I would pay money towards - that security helicopter thing if it ever comes out. I will start a Go Fund Me page to, no offense, buy one for Paul Hibbert. I’m really surprised that you didn’t at least touch on Amazon’s forced advertising on the 8 and 10 Show devices. Yes I’m aware of the settings that we are able to change, but after talking to amazon CS for over 30 minutes they admitted that the will not allow us to change two of the settings. As for now the forced advertising is full screen and rotates through the screen with no way of turning them off. The “card” which is also full screen is an “Alexa for your day” recommendation. So essentially when you have your photo slideshow rolling along you will get full screen advertisements for each of these items. Usually about every 3rd or 4th photo. Until Amazon allows us to actually control these units that we purchased and “own” mine are all relegated to rooms that I don’t use. It appears that the 15 screen stays the same as I can see one of the widgets for the card I’ve mentioned. Does it appear full screen if you are using the device in slideshow mode?
The reason I did not touch on it during this video is because it wasn't an issue 390 days ago like it is now. I made this video over a year ago and at that time they were annoying with cards, but you could turn them off. Later in that same year I covered the changes that were coming that started this whole forced advertising. If I were to make the video now, I would definitely point it out. Thanks for watching.

In fact about a month ago they announced they are drastically reducing staff associated with these devices and smart products altogether. Yet they snap up companies like iRobot or the Roomba specifically. I’ve been developing a smart home since they first started coming out and just wish everyone would get on the same page. Once the forced adds started I got two in a row then decided it’s time to find a better system. I sent the Google max back after 30 minutes. It’s so invasive and limited. Apple could really change the globe if it wanted to as it’s the most secure and private but it’s extremely limited.
I really hate that Amazon does not allow you to customize the clock. The clock numbers are just huge and ruin whatever picture they are in front of. Sure, you can go into photo frame mode. But if you want to use this device, the 15, as intended, there's no way to turn that clock off. The clock numbers do randomly shrink into the upper left corner. I don't know why or under what circumstance, it seems to be random. But most of the time, it's these huge numbers. I don't need a clock. I know what time it is. I want to see my photos and the widgets. This is consistent across the board with these Echo show devices, these huge clock numbers dominating the screen. I mean, look how big that clock is. And Amazon refuses to let you get rid of them. Very annoying.

I tried google max for 20 minutes then boxed it back up and sent it back to the mother ship. It simply doesn’t compare. I wanted to switch away from amazon after they started the forced advertising screens.

That is a big issue and huge oversight. Things like that make the screen not very useful outside of video. They need to fix that.
Does the 15 have a widget for Ring or any home security cameras?
Can you add 3rd party apps to the show 10? I use the Plex app religiously and would buy if the show 10 allows me to use it
There are some skills available, but I don’t think there is a plex skill. There is no other 3rd party support.
I’m gonna purchase the 10. I’m using the 8 at the moment
The 10 is a nice upgrade. I would go for it over the 15. Especially for sound. Hope you enjoy it.

It is 100% retail mindset. They don’t care about the refining. They have set the hardware bar to low to do what is needed. It is such a bummer.
I wish you could truly make your own custom wake word rather than just the few choices they give you.

The 15 would be nice when electric is out hookup to power bank but no sd card slot as usual with Amazon. No sale!
