Valencia was one of my favourite United players from that era. Underrated by many who compared him unfavourably with Ronaldo, and who also erroneously criticised his defensive awareness (never his commitment) - but I think that's also rather unfair because he wasn't playing his natural position when he played that role at United (which he did more towards the end of his career). I think the fact he could play almost as a right back (or wing back) bares testament to his footballing-IQ, his speed, strength and character as a team player. Indomintably strong on the ball and could beat players too. I just loved they way he could blast in a low cross, and he could pick players out, too. Plus, he scored and assisted some absolutely iconic, goal of the season contenders.
