I guess permanent location retirement in Malaysia is not going to be easy , given the new MM2H requires one to purchase a property at RM1mil & above, and to hold it for a min of 10 yrs. Next best option would be to lead a nomadic retirement lifestyle when one is still able bodied. Abide to 6 months per year, hopping out every other month. Doesnt matter whether JB, Penang, Ipoh, Langkawi, KL, Malacca..... gonna do them all at some time 😊
Entering Malaysia is no problem. My uncle don't have MM2H VISA. He just travel out 1 or 2 time nearby (Phuket beaches, Thai Boarder or Singapore lol and reenter every 6 months a year.
Most if not all Asean countries have a 1 month tourist visa. And most if not all also have a 180 days cumulative entry limit for tourist visas. Which means one has to keep moving around monthly, unless one goes back to one's home country. I guess it can get tiring at some point but at least one won't get bored of any one location.

A lot of places r not made for walking. As a retired person, it's dangerous to walk.

Doesnt matter whether JB, Penang, Ipoh, Langkawi, KL, Malacca..... gonna do them all at some time 😊
👍😍
Entering Malaysia is no problem. My uncle don't have MM2H VISA. He just travel out 1 or 2 time nearby (Phuket beaches, Thai Boarder or Singapore lol and reenter every 6 months a year.
Most if not all Asean countries have a 1 month tourist visa. And most if not all also have a 180 days cumulative entry limit for tourist visas. Which means one has to keep moving around monthly, unless one goes back to one's home country. I guess it can get tiring at some point but at least one won't get bored of any one location.

@corporatebreakoutcouple I've left kl for about 10yrs now. Fig as of 2010
Car (each) proton saga rm750 installment + rm1000 petrol tol and parking
Insurance- we were in our 20s, so rm150pm. But I was paying for my grandma' insulin rm1500 per mth
Housing loan rm500pm for 35yr for a 130k apt (NOT CONDO)
School fees, for it to be same level as sg, it has to be private school with Asian syllabus rm5k per semester ie 3mths. tuition/enrichment (let's not go into that)
So if u r not sufficiently Insured, or if u don't hv an investment in sgd, pls be careful.

Eye specialist, for an eye infection rm500.
OK fine, medical aside.
Car - every 10yrs u sold buy a new car, cos maintenance goes sky high. We settle with bezza cos cheapest and we only use very sparingly. But unlike sg, if we don't drive, we don't get food. A lot of places r not made for walking. As a retired person, it's dangerous to walk.
