What I learned from this video as a Faust main:
The power of 5P and 2P
For a while I've been trying out f.S and 2H for my midrange buttons so that I can learn how to use my higher risk buttons better, but now it has become a habit (again) for those to be my main buttons. There's an inherent risk in using long range normals with higher recover because of jump-ins and whiff punishes. This set reminded me how good both 5P and 2P are. In this set RF used them to:
*Challenge stagger pressure
*Control space for items (Mini-Faust 5:34 and Trumpet 5:04)
*Low risk blockstrings
*Tick throw
*Steal back advantage at burst range (not the system mechanic) 5:57
*Whiff punish fast recovery moves
Their speed and deceptive range combined make for not just two applicable normals in a lot of situations, but Faust's safest normals. That is why RF uses them so much. Sure it's low risk, low-mid reward, but when your reward is being in midrange, playing with your items, or allowing you to pull more items, that reward might as well be high.
Use 5P and 2P, my fellow doctors.

@@rumblytumbly1636 He's talking about the quick swipe attack. It does low damage, but is still incredibly useful because its speed and range allow it to create space and stop aggro, which is something Faust needs.

I’ve never played guilty gear till strive. I’m not good at it, but I play Faust for the music, the design, and the cool backstory from videos on the lore I’ve watched. Even if he is garbage we Faust people need to stick together. Glad to see high level plays going strong with it.
Very solid patience and defense by RF, could spot quite a few shimmies i'd have blown up to but he held and took back the advantage

That's why I love faust, dumb, thinking on the fly stuff like this.
Even though I haven’t played this game yet, I still love both of these characters and taking into account how bad Faust is, I love RFs dedication to him.

Its not really that Faust is bad, in any other fighting game this iteration of him would be really good.
Its mostly just everyone else in GGST being a LOT better than him.
@@SaviOnTH-cam yeah, but him being hypothetically good in other fighting games doesn't really matter. What matters is how well he performs in the game he's in, and the consensus is... not very well.

The fact that multiple "W-W-What Could This Be?" were inputted, with actual success, it was beautiful.

I’m bad at video games just in general, and that of course includes strive. I didn’t realize he was a bad character; I’ve been working so hard to be good at him this is heartbreaking news

@corruptedspice thats what i personally call the "Dan theorem." Play a notoriously bad character (even if they arent REALLY bad, just needs a reputation for it) and play them well. Now when you go against someone, they underestimate you for playing that character. Then when you do well, they start to panic and lose mental because "HOW AM I LOSING TO [character]???" Doesnt work all the time, and sometimes stinkers really ARE that unplayable, but it has surprising levels of success.

At a glance it seems Faust would eat shit vs sol every time, but honestly from my experience and from watching lots of videos like this, I’m pretty sure it’s Faust favored.

Honest question: is Faust's Scarecrow worth using? Seemed like RF was doing fine without it.
Scarecrow is a gimmick that should only really be used when you have meter or use the slash version on bad players.
By itself? Not really. With items on screen? Yeah, it can be really useful at opening someone up. The way I see it, Faust's move set and specials all have neutral uses and item uses. Scarecrow can absolutely fuck someone up if there's a bomb on screen and you use it for a quick instant crossup if they're sleeping, or even with afro setplay. Faust shines when his items are out, because you can bait the opponent into positions that benefit you or WILL mess them up if they aren't careful.
0:25 pushes when doll approaches, 1:10 DY cancels into scalpel, blocked MH into Mix-Mix,
As a new faust main, I am humbled, and in awe of this lads talent? Was this before or after Faust's buffs?
1:48 can perform a medium after mix, 2:22 D-Med can be followed by N-Med

I don’t play this game but why does this Sol seem really bad, his attacks just seems so.. easy and strong while the Faust looks likes actually trying. I could just be viewing things wrong tho
It's because Faust's animation and pressure makes him look like a headless chicken on crack which makes the sol's movement look tame in comparison.
not gonna find any sol better than this guy his reaction and defense is insane

I dont even play this game but from what ik faust is difficult and i like it bcuz i only cared about the esthetics of the character lmao the best example of my masochism is playing Spy in TF2 as a beginner (not like beginner in spy but actually beginning to play the game and i kept maining that character lmao)
