Why is it always about how loud or which one got the strongest bass?! It's about sound quality and here the sony wins. Jbl got zero equalizer functions, it's just a great partyspeaker for loud music. On low volumes the bass is too strong, just like with Bose. Gets exhausting for your ears. Sometimes you want to listen to music at a lower volume and here the sony clearly wins. Just put it on stamina mode and play around with the equalizer... Nearly perfect audio. I got two ones in stereo on my terrace, sounds incredible. And if you wanna party just activate the extra bass. Sony for life. My favorite brand, got a portable discman from 92 and it still works!!
Everyone's ear is different. You have to determine what's important to you personally. The JBL Charge & W-King X10 are slightly more powerful speakers with deeper bass. But they also tend to distort at higher volumes. This speaker plays distortion free from 1-10. It also has more tech. It's really an individual choice.

The xb41 is great. The battery does last close to 24 hours played quite loud. I use it when travelling for a whole year. Doesn't take up too much space in checked baggage. Carry on suitcase or backpack doesn't leave much room, lucky it's light. Love the lights on it too. Good lil party speaker for the hotel room / pool / drinking areas where I stayed for a year.

I saw the same comparison with these two speakers and an xb40 and the xb43 definitely seemed louder and was clearer. It was noticeably better than the xb40 and xb41.
Allow the drivers to get a bit loose, it will sound louder eventually, same thing with the XB41 when I bought it back in 2018, it's significally louder now, the bass just wasn't there in the beginning, it also improves when you set it to audio quality playback mode. Anyway I'm also buying this one, I loved it. Good video as always, brother (:

Twist is in the end- I was looking for a speaker this week and watched lot of video reviews and comparisons. I had short listed JBL Xtreme 2, Sony xb43 and Bose portable home speaker. I spent an hour in a electronic shop standing close to these 3 and compared back to back with no ones interruptions. In my personal opinion Bose was the top and then the Sony and then JBL. All of them were loud enough so loudness didn’t matter. I played around 4 songs in each and I felt the quality of sound from Bose very very evident to me. Good quality music is what makes you listen to them for longer. I also felt Sony had better quality than the JBL. Here all 3 are priced at $399. So I made up my mind to get Sony. I do have JBL flip 3 from 4 years ago. Apart from battery and usb loose connection I didn’t have any issues. I went next day straight to the Bose and spent about 30 mins between Portable home speaker and 500 home speaker. The quality of sound in both were almost equal but the loudness in 500 was next level and I could not keep full volume because it was too loud. So I was confused again. So I dropped JBL from my list and kept sony, and 2 Bose speakers. After comparing for a long time, I finally decided to spend more and bought Bose 500 home speaker for $599 and I can say it’s brilliant and it’s got built in google home and Alexa too which makes song search really easy. The base quality is next level. It’s everything one needs, it is very very loud and very very high quality sound.

I've been looking for a xb series comparison. The more in depth the better like xb 30, 31,32,33 compared to 40,41, 43. Mostly interested in 33 to 43 and I see why it may be a bit redundant but I don't know that.

I think the problem with the loudness test is you only had the mic in one place, and Sony changed the speaker configuration. It would have made sense to put both of these in a corner of the room (instead of the middle) like they were designed to be used. Then put the mic measuring the sound directly in front of that. In my car, I put my XB-41/43 on my dashboard and used dual audio to play the same songs at the same time. The mids and highs were way clearer on the XB-43 and they were roughly equally loud. The bass is also more subtle, and doesn't distort the higher notes. In terms of balance, it is much better. Since it has a bigger battery, it is a better phone charger as well. USB is extremely convenient, and most of all, the edges are rubber. My girlfriend had two catastrophic events where she dropped the XB-41 and each caused a rip in the fabric that eventually grew over time. This XB-43 may not look as good, but it's more rugged, convenient, and has more of everything.
I've had my xb-41 going on 2yrs this December 2020. It works great it did get a software update L-dac 5.0 and battery can go for a long time it took me 2 whole days to get below %70 . I'm grabbing a few more when the price point drops a little more . As far as not having the highs when I connect them to a source like tv or pc you can select it to be the mid and low and adjust your source with lower bass . Or to your taste
This was worth waiting. My refurbished JBL Xtreme 1 has taken me far and is still going. But if the battery goes bad, I'll upgrade to the XB41. I appreciate the seperate tweeters of the Xtreme 1.
I still use 2 JBL xtreme 1's as my home theater and for the skatepark and am looking forward to the design change as I was disappointed with xb41 sound not distributing as wide/loud as xtreme at skatepark hoping these do better as I want the party lights
Hello! It seems to me that XB43 is a step back, because 43 ferrite magnets on the speakers are the same step back , 41 have neodymium read on the Internet, yes 43 have high-frequency speakers, but they give +10 db in total, 41 in the application settings you can raise the same +10 db and all Carl +10 db gives a sound like 43 why overpay and they are almost the same in volume, I checked it myself, thanks for the video! All the best from Russia!
Are you sure the drivers were broke in when you tested it? Because if it’s twice the weight there is probably bigger drivers and bigger magnets. I really think it’s sad that it wouldn’t get louder for being twice the size and weight. That’s so dumb to me.
@John Lewis someone else reviewed this speaker and used proper mics and songs :) Comparing the speaker out of the box is just misleading as the drivers do have a break in period. So the XB43 has better bass, mids and highs. It does everything better, it is similar in loudness but everything else is better. He's lied about less bass....
I have an xb30, xb41 and xb501G and I prefer the 501G as the subwoofer on it is able to shake my room which makes the music better with the sub able to provide the low frequency’s well, letting the other speakers on it handle mid and highs, giving the sound quality a real boost.
@@parraces the 501G is different from the normal speakers, it doesn’t have party mode like the usual ones, it has chrome cast instead which allows you to pair goggle speakers only with it, you cannot pair other Sony speakers with it unless it’s another 501G.
XB 41 sounds muffled if you paired it with iPhone. But if you paired it with Xperia phones and customise the equaliser. Boy ohh boy the sound that comes out of it is amazing !!!
Great video like always. I found the base on the 43 dispointing too. I'm curious tho, how does it sound when you use the speaker vertically? Can you compare it to the Xtreme 2?
Got the xb33 the other day. Probably gonna get another for stereo effect but not sure if I should get the 43 instead. The 33 sounds so much better than my charge4 it’s pathetic.

Ive had the xb41 for two years now, bought the xb43 recently and it's a major upgrade in terms of clarity. The bass is left to be desired for given its almost twice the weight and bigger. You get what you get. No one listens to these speakers at max volume.
@@d20207 ive placed in multiple places around my room, and the srs xb43 does sound noticeably wider to be fair. It also gets deeper at higher volumes. Clarity is where this speaker truly shines. This review was very well done. Soni has some great headphones. So far I haven't purchased any speakers yet. This speaker sounds worth saving up for. I'd turn off the lights as I'm blind. It did get pretty loud which is cool. Audio books would probably sound good on this speaker as well.
*Can either of these speakers turn on with our iphones? Dude, the XB43 is the biggest upgrade inhistory over the previous model year product. The XB41 sounds like crap compared to the XB43. I've heard the XB41 when it came out and I bought the XB43 two weeks ago cause they finally added tweeters and sound difference is night and day. They XB41 sounds like its playing underwater.
This is a very close shot, the XB43 could've been perfect, but it just needs to be as loud or louder than the XB41, then it would be a worth it purchase
Do you have an xb33 review? Ive been waiting like crazy with money burnin a hole. The last couple sony's didnt impress me enough to trade in my flip 4. I love the mids and highs on that but no bass.
I waited around and got the 41 for $120. I like the look of the 43, but it doesnt sound that much better to me. I'll probably wait for a price drop on this one too.
Thanks for making this video. Would you consider making a video where you Party Chain connect an XB41 with an XB90? I wonder how those highs and lows mix. I always thought that is why the XB speaker series sound how they do. In order to take advantage of the Party Chain feature and mix them up. As well as the LR option on same model units. I'm so bummed to see that Sony has decided to change wireless environments to Party Connect however it sets them up for new age of wireless speakers. I wonder what a potential new XB91 or XB100 could look like. Owning an XB90 will prevent me from purchasing anything in the new Party Connect environment.
You would hope each year the tech and speakers just improve. Not stay neutral or go backeards. Or make it so you need to buy all new streakers in same brand of you want to connect them all. This feels like a companies way of being sneeky & doing subscriptions. Making you buy all new speakers (of you buy just one you have but ask sizes & doubles etc) or they won't connect & for very little of any improvement. Like they change the system each year. I think it's a sneaky way. Plus they can deny it as just new and better tech. Just make apart connection method and then stick to it for at least 3 years but preferably 5 or more. If it works and it fits work fine minor upgrades are silly if it means no backwards compatibility. That's why if they start doing it each year or second you know they are making it a sneaky firm of subscription or whatever you want to call it so you have to replace everything in the line again. I might sound like a conspiracy nut but this is how companies think. Just like getting rid of 3.5mm jackd on phones. Samsung did on Note 10 then bought it back for lite. They do it to sell $200 buds & $20 dongles. Well this is the same type of crap. I mean if you are suddenly buying 2 or more speakers for part mode because no backward compat. Then they are doubling or more their profits. Is great and genius without full deniability. If they do it again next year you know they are. Engram every 2 years is unacceptable.
I do think it’s very important that you compliment Sony or any other brands for supporting more BT codec and to call out JBL for being very stingy / deficient in this regard. That will add pressure on manufacturers to the benefit of all consumers!!
What's the rated Voltage and Amperage output on the wall charger? I have a type C power bank and I wonder if it would keep the speaker topped off while plugged in

This XB-43 may not look as good, but it's more rugged, convenient, and has more of everything.
xb41 fits just fine in my book bag.and it looks better in my opinion.but the xb43 is growing on me.and the xb41 gets very loud
How do I update my xb41
GamesWizard ya I bet he didn’t even wait for the break in period.
Ive been using this speaker for the last two weeks daily. Its had time to break in before the sound test was done
GYMCADDY ok then why does every other review say it has better bass and a little louder. Do you think yours is messed up
I have an xb30, xb41 and xb501G and I prefer the 501G as the subwoofer on it is able to shake my room which makes the music better with the sub able to provide the low frequency’s well, letting the other speakers on it handle mid and highs, giving the sound quality a real boost.
I think xb30 is the best. The first one. I had 2 but one fell out the boat to the sea...does the 501g pairs with the xb30? Thks
@@parraces the 501G is different from the normal speakers, it doesn’t have party mode like the usual ones, it has chrome cast instead which allows you to pair goggle speakers only with it, you cannot pair other Sony speakers with it unless it’s another 501G.
@@parraces Also in my opinion the xb30 is good but upgrading increases audio quality and loudness as going from a xb30 to xb41 was a huge jump for me
@@Jeessh- thks mate!😃👍👍
I need it with party chain...so, which one would you take...de 41? Or the 43? :))
XB 41 sounds muffled if you paired it with iPhone. But if you paired it with Xperia phones and customise the equaliser. Boy ohh boy the sound that comes out of it is amazing !!!
because of cheap bluetooth in the iphones, android phones has Ldac codec and audio quality us so much betterrr
Great video like always. I found the base on the 43 dispointing too. I'm curious tho, how does it sound when you use the speaker vertically? Can you compare it to the Xtreme 2?
I use it diagonally.
Got the xb33 the other day. Probably gonna get another for stereo effect but not sure if I should get the 43 instead. The 33 sounds so much better than my charge4 it’s pathetic.
Get the XB43 for more bass
the XB33 is a decent upgrade from the XB32
I have 3 Xb32 , do you think is a big deal sell my 3 speaker to buy only one xb33 ?
Ive got the xb41 and have no plans replacing it. When i put it in the corner if my room it actually vibrates my desk on the other side of the room.
Should ditch it and get a ue mega boom or a hyperboom
Xtreme 2 is my pick
How long the battery last you?
Mr Alex The sony xb43 and xb41 are better tho
2 speakers of SRS - XB41 and 1 of SRS - XB 43 can be connected in a group through Music Center to output the same Music
Are you asking a question or making a statement? Because I have been unable to do what you've said and would like to.
SRS-XB43 is on sale at Target for $189.00; lowest price currently in the U.S.
Looks like xb41 reallv was the end all be all. That's why they never made a xb42 they had already perfected it. I have an xb31 and it sounds great just not quite loud enough, so I just ordered an xb41. Can't wait till it comes!
I love my xb41 and I don’t use the usb charging I just use what it comes with since I don’t have to charger it for 3-5 days
in slovakia the xb43 normaly costs around 150€-200€. Is it worth it in this prize tag. Im curently choosing between jbl xtreme 3 that costs 300€ and the xb 43 and the xg500 that costs 330€. So what do you recomend more?
xb43 is great. Xg500 also good, but much bigger
I have my Sony xb43 from the day it came out it works perfect I watch own reviews on everything I buy before I buy it there's no bad reviews and my speaker works perfect if you buy something and it does that soon as you take it out the box is broken or defaulted take it back to the store and he'll give you a new one plain and simple
I'll stay with my xb41, great speaker❤
Ive had the xb41 for two years now, bought the xb43 recently and it's a major upgrade in terms of clarity. The bass is left to be desired for given its almost twice the weight and bigger. You get what you get. No one listens to these speakers at max volume.
Hello, Im about to upgrade my xb41 to the xb43. Do you definitely recommend it? In terms of volume and bass, is worth the upgrade? thank you!
@@d20207 ive placed in multiple places around my room, and the srs xb43 does sound noticeably wider to be fair. It also gets deeper at higher volumes. Clarity is where this speaker truly shines.
I managed to pick up from curry's for £129 instead of £199 in which case is definetely worth the upgrade.
I love my xb43 excellent sound quality...comparared with my xb41, new tweeters make a difference...
yeah they do and the XB43 sounds better... but its very quite for its size and price
@@GYMCADDY The volume seems good to me and in quality I really like it, but if it is true that it is heavier than the xb41, although the xb43 feels more premium, my collection now is: xb41, xb43, partybox 300, later I will get the boombox 2 already I like indoor bass ... greetings !!
@@perrodukegordo how is the battery life
can xb 41 and xb 43 connect to party chain?
@@perrodukegordo I loved my xb41, but it was stolen. I almost wanna just get them both because the new one seems good but I loved my old one. What do they sound like when chained together?
I strongly disagree. While using extra bass mode and playing at 90% volume I was happily surprised by the time the battery lasted. About 6 hours in my case
Good review for being truthful with what you hear and see ppl on here really defending a down grade, went with the xb41 thanks
If 2 hours battery life at full volume is not acceptable could you please list which other speakers last longer at the same SPL?
it lasts 6 hours at fmax voume, not 2, dont know how gc got those false information
SONY XB43 VS JBL XTREME 2 🔥
Waiting for xtreme 3
The Sony was better😁
Copared to an xtreme 2 would be interesting now
This review was very well done. Soni has some great headphones. So far I haven't purchased any speakers yet. This speaker sounds worth saving up for. I'd turn off the lights as I'm blind. It did get pretty loud which is cool. Audio books would probably sound good on this speaker as well.
I have 10 days to take the 43 back to Best buy and keep my 41, and this review is confirming what I was thinking, back to the store.
Can you also use this as a bookshelf speaker and keep it plugged in all the time?
Yes and you can also turn on with just connecting it throu the bluetooth.
shiiiit, just sold my xb41, and realized that's the best one in the category, I have try xb33, its a crap , but i like xb23 because its very portable
*Can either of these speakers turn on with our iphones? In other words....if I'm working around the house and want music on/or off....can I turn on (or off) this bad boy with my cell or do I have to physically walk over to the speaker and turn the speaker on/off with the button?* (Like I"m able to with my old bose-pill.) Thanks!
I'll buy the xb43 next year when it drops $100
black friday is coming up in a couple months
@@walter8779 True. On my birthday I am going to buy it😁😂
This is a very close shot, the XB43 could've been perfect, but it just needs to be as loud or louder than the XB41, then it would be a worth it purchase
Do you have an xb33 review? Ive been waiting like crazy with money burnin a hole. The last couple sony's didnt impress me enough to trade in my flip 4. I love the mids and highs on that but no bass.
nah my XB33 video isn't out yet. Maybe next week. Im working on it
@@GYMCADDY Right on, looking foreward to it!!!!
Sounds like xb43 has deeper bass, and xb41 has more punch 🤔
It just seems that xb41 has more punch but that is because there’s no treble so you only hear bass
Maybe srs xb 43 vs the srs xb 501g?
I waited around and got the 41 for $120. I like the look of the 43, but it doesnt sound that much better to me. I'll probably wait for a price drop on this one too.
Are they still having same problem of when battery gets to 20%, the lady goes (Time to charge) and no way to disable that feature?
Not on xb43
Whats the best way to remove/clean all the fluff that gets stuck on the speakers fabric?
So i found that a lindt roller does the job perfectly
Buddy, the hair this collects is as ridiculous as it is that we have six cats.
@@chubsy 😂 so true its ridiculous aye
Anybody knows what’s the “ live” feature for? Is it for outside mode?
It's a 3D surround effect. 3D surround effect. This function is more useful for watching movies than for listening to music.
The 43 sounds just as loud as 41 in other test. It also shows the same DB so?
Which one has more bass?
Xb41
Got one today its hard to find a new one but got lucky got mine on ebay £189 sony srs xb43
Is XB-33 coming in for a review?

Hi I hv a question. Will the battery life get affected if I connect the power source to the speaker all the time?
👌🏻honest review...the 23 & 33 perform well as compared to the 43...
I bought the xb43 for 125 brand new at my local Walmart
Bargain
Can I connect my Sony SRS-XB21 to Sony SRS-XB43?
No only XB_3 models
Is the xb43 good value at $149?
Absolutely
What's the rated Voltage and Amperage output on the wall charger? I have a type C power bank and I wonder if it would keep the speaker topped off while plugged in
The output is both 50w and seems to have been turned off by Sony's function, which automatically turns off when music is not played for 15 minutes.
Is xb43 stronger than xb41 like is a real upgrade or you don't know ?
Witch one is the best?
Xb41 e mai buna
Pop music & Classic -> SRS XB43

How about using a powerbank to compensate with the battery life?
@Paul Mathews I do have a powerbank with that capability. 👌
@Paul Mathews It can power my bigger bt speaker with ease when I tried it at 18v how much more with the xb43. It is a smart powerbank.. So I'm all good now.. Thank you.. 😊
I love my xb43. Shit bumps hard and sounds amazing
Saved me 250 great review
Which ones louder?
xb43 battery lasts 4-6 hours at max volume, not just 2
