⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this was one of the best interviews all year! ❤️❤️ I absolutely love jimmy jam and Terry Lewis professionalism and work ethic. They gave a five star interview showing their brilliance and musical genius. They will for ever be iconic and black royalty of music/producing. Glad to see they have come out with there New album and looking for the album volume two. Great interview breakfast club it was refreshing to finally have someone from the music industry who can actually articulate words and not sound like they just woke up from a drunken weeds/barbiturate/narcotic slump
Great interview. The production they did on The Velvet Rope is as close to perfection as you can get. It's like the musical version of the Sistine Chapel.
I could go on and on, naming situations, dates and people, who are connected to my memories, musically...but playing in the back of my life, is the music from these bruthas. It also needs to be mentioned, that they were just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which to most recording artists, is considerably bigger than a Grammy. These guys are legends.
These 2 gentlemen right here helped to usher in a new phase of the music industry and changed the sound of music and black radio in the 80s. That influence is still felt to THIS DAY 🙂
Hands down if you’re a music freak you should listen to Questlove’s podcast. He goes into depth and asks those musical questions only an appreciative musician can ask.
I'm speechless because my soul has been fed, my thoughts lifted and I have a huge smile on my face. I remember all of their incredible music and memories. I have not heard the album though. They are two very humble and gifted men . Saw them perform with the time back in the day and they were awesome. Feels like family to me and the way they talk about Prince (my favorite artist) makes him seem more human lol
Fact! They did, but they also incorporated that signature “ The Time” and “Minneapolis” sound in that Iconic album and Teddy, another 🐐.. took it to the next level and ran with it.
This was the best interview ever!! Their music has changed my life since I was a child and has gotten me through all the good and the bad! Thank you for blessing the world with your greatness!❤

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are icons themselves. Their work speaks for itself. Just seeing them have an interview on The Breakfast Club for over an hour is great to see. You know gems will shared and great stories...facts or undeniable facts?
This is a fantastic interview. I have been a fan since I saw them perform with The Time at Howard University in 1982. The break down of how songs came together are amazing for a music fan like me. Thank you for this.
Jimmy jam said he went to junior high school with prince 😯, that’s a legendary story knowing prince when he was little , seems like Minneapolis is a small city and everyone knows each other because the when Morris day was on the breakfast club he talked about how he also grew up around the corner from prince when prince was little, Minneapolis have some legendary stories.
@@kellyjones5509 Nah, Terry is what more people should be like.. Genuine. He’s a straight up no nonsense dude. Respect me and I will Respect you. He spoke CANDIDLY about Prince with no chaser, but he also said he loved the dude. He’s a REAL dude.
I'm from the Twin Cities area and while Minneapolis isn't a small town at all (guess it depends on what you compare it to), but back then the black community was small, black folks either lived on the South side, the North side or St Paul.
Prince vs Michael? Yeah, that's tough. I love them both for different reasons. If I want to be entertained I go with Michael. He is the greatest entertainer I have ever seen. If I just want to listen and vibe to music it is Prince hands down. An unbelievable musician and underrated guitarist.

Thru loud stereo homemade speakers in the back of a Chevy Vega station wagon and turn the whole park out Everybody in the park was jamming. That’s what Jam and Lewis music does for me. It always brings good feelings and memories

True and solid friendship that is so rare . Sad it can’t spread to people that need it so desperately . Music is a healer for some it’s definitely a divine art . Enjoy this interview from two very mature men .
Thanks so much dear , if you don't mind i will like to get to know a true fan much better so drop your number in my email so i can text you and get to know you more better. realjimmyjam1@gmail.com
That" Fake" by Alexander O'Neal has one of the best monologue intros ever!! Salute to Jam & Lewis!!
The writing was amazing like “Storytelling @ it’s Finest”.

Very. I don’t know his professional business outside of production, but he has left quite a bit of money on the table with that voice. The voiceover community would love him.
It's crazy that Mary had heard the production for 'No More Drama', years before the album came out, and KNEW that was her song!
Wow! I started my day off, getting ready to work out. I saw this interview and time stopped! I watched the entire interview in one sitting. I LOVE JAM AND LEWIS! They are legends and have made such a huge contribution to music. When Jam said that "OPTIMISTIC" is his favorite, I got chills and my eyes teared up. That's how much I love and need music in my life. THANK YOU Jimmy and Terry! This was a great interview.

These brothers remain my favorite producers/songwriters of all time. To Jam and Lewis, Flyte Tyme forever!
2 of thee best producer/songwriter duos of all time!🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
"Optimistic" is a masterpiece. Black national anthem.
Heartbreak was such a classic album...that was the top of the mountain for me for New Edition, and the tour was legendary
Optimistic is genius. It's in all my playlist. Such a beautiful, motivational, spiritual song
These are reflective of the times we grew up in. Specifically on the interview, they flipped all the pessimism to optimism in a blink of the eye. Media sensationalism is not needed here, we just need the stories in making the music. It was enough to engage me for over an hour and I watched it 3x already. Job well done, Jimmy, Terry & the breakfast club.

What a fantastic interview!
This should have lasted for an couple of hours. Jam and Lewis have so many stories and they are the most mellow legends around. I can listen to them talk all day.
True!
I love the calmness of these dudes and the partnership they established...that’s his success is achieved.
"Open my Heart," is the song I listen to when I'm going through stuff l, it never fails.
Just finished listening to it! That podcast was so good!!!
Hell yeah, Quest is the best for getting legends on his show!!!
There is a Questlove Podcast with longer versions of all of these stories.
Lol I was going to say the same thing. QLS
I just said the same thing on another comment!!! He has the best podcast on music.
@@pryncessdi9358 I need to check this out!!
Thank you. I’m going to check it out.
Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis were actually the real inventors of New Jack Swing with that Janet Jackson Control. Teddy just perfected it.
Fact! They did, but they also incorporated that signature “ The Time” and “Minneapolis” sound in that Iconic album and Teddy, another 🐐.. took it to the next level and ran with it.
yeah but they used Princes sound, so basically Prince invented new jack swing? lol
@@DjIceCnS What prince song is new jack swing (tryna get songs in da playlist)
Their the reason I love Janet Jackson so much, also that Janet Unbreakable album is a classic I wish that album got promoted in a bigger way
Indeed
Agreed. It’s one of her best albums.
I think this is one of my favorite interviews ever. It will be a dream to meet and talk with them. Thanks Breakfast Club, this was amazing
This was the best interview ever!! Their music has changed my life since I was a child and has gotten me through all the good and the bad! Thank you for blessing the world with your greatness!❤

This interview was so impactful..These gentlemen are two Goats..Thank you Breakfast Club for restoring hope in good people and great music
“Jesse! Now, Jerome!” - What Have U Done For Me Lately? - JanetJackson 🥰🥰. I literally grew up listening to “Control”.

Why is the screen blank?

These stories about Prince and Michael Jackson are proof they are like Batman and Superman, or Vegeta and Goku
Talented beyond belief, but self centered and somewhat limited by ego
Besides Envy ALWAYS NOT being in the moment and asking the WRONG damn questions, THIS WAS ONE BC'S GREATEST INTERVIEWS 💯
It's Envy being Envy!! Like that moment of silence when he asked about hip hop artists, then they had to tell him about NAS and Mary J.!!! Come on man! LMAO!!!
@@Skeezer66 I have no idea how he got that job. He sits there like a lump most of the time
This interview was phenomenal, Jimmy & Terry are legendary pioneers major respect and love!
Love the Michael Jackson & Prince stories.
Yolanda Adams, Open my heart got me through a very hard time in my life. I played it all day everyday and it was my mental therapy. They are 2 BEAUTIFUL humble BROTHERS
Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis is the reason why I am an aspiring Producer today and why I continue to chase my dream in becoming a producer these guys are my idols along with the Neptune’s and the fact that they approached every artist with giving them there own sound or tailoring a sound for them is the type of producer I’m striving to be this is by far my favorite Breakfast Club interview for the simple fact that I have so much love and respect for these brothers now only if I can find me a producing partner and create magic like they did and continue to do 💯

My favorite productions are with Janet! Especially When I Think of You. Timeless music!
One of the best conversations I've heard on the breakfast club!!! 2 of the best to ever do it!!!
Terry seems like he isn't to fond of Prince. lol
@@kellyjones5509 Actually Terry and Prince were really friends, Jam has always said how much Terry stilled talked to Prince before his passing.
A major conduit to the 80’s and 90’s soundtrack of many incredible memories
The very morning, noon and night Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis contributions are pivotal and the actual pinnacle of emotional intellect set to music💯🥇♥️🎶👑💯
When I saw 1 hour and 14 minutes, I knew this was going to be a great interview. I'm a huge Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis fan, I thought I had heard every story, but they turned me on to some new ones
Envy has to ask the same question to every guest, ALWAYS!
I didn’t know they did Open Up My Heart with Yolanda Adams. That song is incredible. Great interview.
One of my favorite songs actually is the Jimmy Jam and terry Lewis remixes of Janet Jackson’s control with every song remixed from the album. I played that song in Franklin Park in Columbus Ohio. Thru loud stereo homemade speakers in the back of a Chevy Vega station wagon and turn the whole park out Everybody in the park was jamming. That’s what Jam and Lewis music does for me. It always brings good feelings and memories
one of the best interviews you guys have ever done!
I was born in 95, so I knew a little bit about the music stories from 60-90 , and those came from my parents and my big brothers. Every time I get to hear this kinde of interview. I learn something new. So thanks so much for that. By the way this comes frome an African from Rwanda who lives and was raised in Norway. Sorry for my english, but anyway this
