I currently only have a 75 gallon setup and I test it once a month or so but that's about all I do. I haven't taken water out of my tank in 4-5 years, no gravel vac or anything of the sort. I have tons and tons of live plants, so many that it's hard to see the fish sometimes. The 20-25 kuhli loaches love to sift through the detritus. I add water about once a week that I treat with a dechlorinator and liquid plant food.

@@MakoyUnggoy Previous water parameters don't matter in the slightest. it does have to be RO or distilled only as ONLY h2o evaporates and when only h2o evaporates the minerals are left behind to build up. @@MakoyUnggoy Yes, I honestly think he should start replacing EVAPORATED water with pure RO/Distilled water FOR REASONS I'VED ALREADY STATED. He can save money and simplify things by not using the dechlorinator and using RO/Distilled. Either you're smart enough to get what I'm saying or you aren't. You have proven that you aren't and that you like to argue points which you've already lost. So one more time just for you : Continuing to refill with tap water is adding minerals which CHANGE the PH and hardness over time. What I just recommended FURTHER STABILIZES the system he has which currently keeps getting harder and harder over time.

I would caution against boiling it or being aware of what your using some pots with leach of of their metals into the water affecting the ph and gh, you can use a few drops of bleach let it sit for 30 minutes - 3 hours then use a neutralizer to get rid of the bleach, some water conditioners act as a neutralizer to the bleach, and when i say drops i mean drops like the same type of drops youd use from an api test kit

Sorry in advance for posting a long comment, but I’m afraid nobody will see nor address my issue, on the forums.
I am having issues with browning of leaves of plants that I have had for the three weeks now which are my Ludwigia Arucuata and some of my Anubias Nana. Before I acquired these plants, my tank overall was suffering from a nutrient deficiency that I couldn’t quite pinpoint. I thought it was just potassium, but it was micro nutrients. I waited a couple of weeks and dosed Easy Green more consistently, as well as turned down my light intensity from 100% ( over a month ago) to now 60% (past 3 weeks).
However, both plants seem to have their leaves slowly but surely turning brown, more so in the middle to near top region of the stems (not really the bottom/new growth) for the Ludwigia and brown trimming along the leaves for the Anubias Nana. I’m not sure what could be the issue. Is my light intensity still too high or am I suffering from another nutrient deficiency?
Side note: Some of the darker-colored leaves on the Ludwigia Arucuata are red, from their emersed growth, not brown.
    Water parameters/routines/conditions of my 55gallon:
    ph: 7.8
    Ammonia: 0ppm
    Nirite: 0ppm
Nirate: 40ppm (Easy Green 12 pumps after a WC on Tuesday or Wednesday and 10 pumps on Saturday)
GH: 14dGH (Sometimes I use Equilibrium)
    KH: 6dKH
    Phosphate level: 1.0mg/L (I dose Flourish Phosphorus once a week/ 3 capfuls)
    I dose Flourish Iron & Potassium 3x a week 3 capfuls (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday)
    Water temperature: 78*F
    Aquarium Co-OP 48in light at 60% intensity (8 hours a day 12-4pm/10pm-2am)
I have a Seachem Tidal 75 set on moderate flow
    No CO2 additions
    50% weekly water changes

I think the forum would be better for this. I went to our forum and didn't see a post. Pictures would help. How long have you had the plants? You mention emersed growth, is this from t he plant being new or from it growing up out of the aquarium?
What are you dosing for micro nutrients if that's what you've identified as being lacking? I'd use our brine shrimp salt to cover that, because I have it on hand.

    • @twoface9959
      @twoface9959 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@AquariumCoop My post is under plants, algae, fertilizers section titled as “Browning of leaves part 2”.
I mentioned emersed growth, because I posted in the forums pictures of the plants, and I didn’t want anyone to mistake the red leaves (emersed growth) towards the bottom as the leaves I’m referring to as bad/dying.
For the micro nutrients, I just utilize Easy Green. I identified the issue as micro nutrients deficiency, because I had others like iron and potassium deficiencies before in this aquarium that I managed to resolve. If I have to use something separate like brine shrimp salt, then I will, but I thought Easy Green would be enough.

Hey so I'm fairly new to the fishkeeping world, especially that of planted tanks. (had a few small tanks when I was around 8 or so?) and I was just wondering what your opinion would be of keeping 2 dwarf honey gourami with a few kuhli loaches and maybe a school of small fish like ember/silver tip tetras in a 20 long? If at all possible without overstocking I'd like to have a few otocinclus to clean up any algae on the plants but I'm not sure if it's possible for the size. It'd probably have at least 2 sponge filters adequate for the tank size and I do have a few HOB that could work as well. Would obviously be doing regular maintenance for water parameters and all that. Probably will end up at least medium to heavily planted and will have a good sandy substrate for the kuhlis. Any and all advice or recommendations is appreciated. :)

Sounds like maybe new tank syndromes where kH has dropped causing pH to drop. That can happen in a new tank or over time with new driftwood / BB causing acidity.
Stick some crushed coral in the filter (if it suits your tanks inhabitants). It will keep the pH stable at 7.

First I'd make sure it's a problem. Most test kits report back calcium and magnesium together. Is there an adverse effect you're seeing on your fish or plants? If so your options are to use another water source like r/o water or buy water. OR you can balance your aquariums and do water changes infrequently. lets the parameters drift down by not changing water and having the aquarium and plants consume stuff. Then only do small like 10% water changes to remineralize the water.
