@AquariumCoop tank cycling . The question is , it's not putting fish In fresh clean declhlorinated water that kills them right it's the spike that happens when parameters spike and there is no bioload to manage it? Sitting here starting another tank and I always use my oldest tank for water. But I was wondering I've never had an issue getting a tank started but everyone makes a big deal about cycling.
Corey you make us all feel better because you, like us, are always friggin' with the riggin'! I think for many of us that is a big part of the enjoyment of the hobby
@@susanstaples6171 my husband says it's a very demanding hobby because I'm always fiddling with stuff and I told him no, that's not required, that's just my aquatic gardening hobby. 😅
I spent tons of time today setting up a SECOND emergency quarantine tank. It's true, the first one is in use. But I honestly think I did it to play around with my equipment! I had to dig deep to get all I needed and enjoyed every minute! The stress relief from fishkeeping never ends!
Congratulations, my friend! I've been following your work for several months now, and I truly appreciate the valuable contributions you make to our hobby. Your insights into various aspects are enlightening and have enriched my understanding. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion with us. The G Man wholeheartedly approves of your efforts!
Love these fish room videos, always gives me new ideas. Thanks for all your hard work Cory, it motivates me to keep my tanks looking great and fish healthy and happy!
Awesome video thank you for sharing. You have some beautiful fish! I love tinkering with my tanks from time to time and trying to make them more pleasing to look at. I could watch fish for hours it’s so relaxing.
I love how real you are. ❤ Wondered just today if I could use an air stone with CO2. 😂 I will take that as a yes! Also, what?! Its the skylights in my living room ruining photos and videos? 😅 Got it. Your tank wall is amazing. I adore it so much! I love the process. That you share the process. It's appreciated so much!!
The one snail in the 800 gallon is seriously living it up lol. Ive always liked the idea of having a huge tank for just a few little fish. Been thinking about setting up a 80 gallon with just shrimp, snails, and a betta. That betta is gonna be king sh*t!
I like it so much better with the sky lights covered. Have never liked sky lights in general. Like these vid of you seeing what you’re up to the fish room.
11:35 Keeping the air collar clear has been the only pain point I've had with the Aquarium Co-Op Sponge Filters. A toothbrush has been my current solution, but it only lasts a few days to a week before the flow decreases. Excited to try the syringe method, and any other tips appreciated!
Update: It works great! Even though my Aquarium Co-Op Dual Outlet Air Pump is well above the tank, I incorporated a check valve in each line to keep things moving in the outward direction during this process, preventing particulate ingestion into the small holes of the air collar. After water was pumped through, I sent a few pumps of just air though until I saw bubbles again to clear the lines, and flow was restored - all without having to get wet!
Cory .. do you have already or could you do a complete video guide to bleaching an aquarium & what items of aquarium things can & cannot be bleached. Thanks!
Why would you want to bleach things in your tank? But gravel and fake decor can be put into a bleach/water solution then after they sit for half an hour the bleach needs to be neutralized (some water conditioner will do that but you should look up how much youll need) then any items need to be thoroughly rinsed but i will ask again, why would you want to do this to your home aquarium
What sort of growth rate do you see on your red root floaters? Mine double approximately every week. I scoop out and sell half every weekend, and it’s full again the next.
I got some massive female guppies from a store semi local to me. Texas aquatics. I bought two with the promise one goes to my brother but I'll have to see if they have more next time I'm nearby. The two females are easily double to triple the size of my full grown female guppies from other sources. Hoping to breed my own monsters from the one I'm keeping.
Regarding airstone and co2. I have each co2 and air pump on those WiFi timers. So air stone pump shut down 1-2 hours before light go on (also on WiFi timer). And the co2 goes on. The idea is that the co2 levels take time to increase and when the light goes on then we are aligned for plant growth. Then we can turn of co2 a hour before light goes of (remember slow process). And when light goes off then the air pump turn on. To give oxygen and to evacuate the co2 that is redundant.
I worked at a fish shop in Oregon and a local guy brought us some enormous guppies he had bred. They looked like red tailed tuxedos but they were the size of mollies.
I've been told by lots of people that co2 just rising to the top like you have is a complete waste of co2 and that I need the filter flow to blow it around the tank so it dissolves rather than rising to the top and bursting. Can I please get your thoughts on this? Love your videos btw
Hey cory i keep eels myself and they usually never bury regardless of substrate once they are older. Its usually the younger ones or when there is too much going on in the tank / water change.
Cory have you had Blue King tetras? I want to pair them with Diamond Tetras and one or two female Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami. Would these fish work together in a 29 gallon tank?🤷🏼♀️🤔
I thought I couldn’t keep Java fern alive because they kept turning brown, but I realized they were simultaneously making a bunch of babies. Cut the brown ones off and attached the babies to the same spots and they are doing their thing… slowly.. 👀 but apparently I didn’t kill them!!
Cory, do you sell scud? They will clear BBA from plants. Also, antibiotics will kill bluegreen algae but this works too; Ultralife Blue Green Slime Stain Remover.
I think that could be a good topic for the Sunday live stream, co2/air stone ect and why/why not. I got a comment on a video saying I was pretty much wasting the co2 because I was running a sponge filter. Still sorta new to co2 and don't totally understand it. I run it very very low because I'm removing it from the tank to set it up else where.
In the beginning of the video in the smaller aquariums, what kind of background are you using? Great info in the video and I agree that Rosy barbs will make short work of that hair algae!
I saw monster guppies at The Wet Spot in Portland, Oregon in fall of 2023. I had to get an employee and ask them to see if my eyes were playing tricks on me. The employee said yup, standard female guppies. They were raised in ponds, and they were nearly as long as my ring finger, and they were fatter than my thumb. They were pregnant which made them look even bigger, but either way, they were massive. I bet each female in that tank gave birth to at least 75 babies.
Hi Cory, I have purple dragon guppies that I am breeding. My females are 2-3 inches. And my male although a lot smaller than my females is a little bigger than my other types of guppies.
@Aquariumcoop , what about a dwarf puffer tank like red eyed red tailed puffers or a puffer similar in size ? I also have some pretty big female guppies breeding in 210G if want some of them cory .
Good going! Ty also for video. I HAVE A QUESTION.... I HAVE A BUBBLER IN MY MM TANK AS my fish do better with it. Ever evolving fishroom.
Was wondering, is it better to have a 48" light or 2 x 24" lights on a 55/75?
48 inch saves money, two 24 inch is more modular. I'd probably buy the 48 inch.
If you had to get a CO2 regulator and didn’t have your own, what would you get?
I'd probably buy a GLA regulator.
