These were the days where we could relate to our music. Connect to the artists and everyone around us. Where we could discuss the lyrics with each other and build friendships upon our tastes. I'll never forget meeting Underoath years ago in New York City at a pizza parlor and when I went up to them they were writing music while enjoying a slice. They put so much time into there music that they couldn't even eat without writing down ideas. They wanted to connect with us. They wanted to reach out to us. Who cares if they are Christians or not, they found a way to bring us all together. This is music people. This is what music is all about.
This song is what got me into post-hardcore and rock music in general. I remember being a 12 year old playing Madden 07 and when I heard this song, I went into the soundtrack manager to disable every other song. My brother would make fun of me for just playing practice mode so I could get gold medals while this gem would play over and over again.
This was the band that got me started in the post-hardcore scene. Their lyrics so aptly described my life, one can instantly tell they were written from their souls. Glad they've come back together :D
Wow, they feed off themselves, the power of UnderOath, Such a sweeeet song, when I'm traveling to heaven I wish for this song to be playing in my ears. love UnderOath
Brian Nelson basically you want a song about regret to be your song on entry to heaven, We turn the pages left to right, this ground we tread upon is filling up to our necks.
InsidAero Of course it is! :) they are gonna do a reunion tour in 2016.. can't believe it's been 10 years since they've released this album.. what is your favourite song ever by them? Mine is "A moment suspended in time". :)
The time has come for you To sit this out To fit inside your mold And would be to sell myself short This ground we tread upon Is now filling up our necks We turn the pages left to right We see everything Oh, my story's growing, it is On my last request Don't make me feel so contradicting There's no room for cheating and being Yourself Failure leaves such a bitter taste in their Mouth And on the last hour We write so many new chapters again And on the outside Wehre there are no surprises Oh, it's getting longer To see it through their eyes Would bring me so much closer You can do this night after night Failure leaves such a bitter taste in my Mouth Taste and see, I swear I know what's good Be still and know that they won't lie to you Every single time you're facing lies I know why you never take your eyes off me I've used my lungs for everything but Breathing I find myself dried up in this conversation So pull me out, pull me aside
I listened to this when I was struggling with my brain cancer and now my friend was recently diagnosed in 2016 and I will be showing it to her as well. I still listen to this song today. Love you guys! I hope to see your show again someday!
This is the band that got me into rock/metalcore 13 years ago. To this day this song still gives me chills and Define the Great Line is still one of my favorite albums of all time.
This album broke me out of shell for drumming. I can play at any level of loudness but i really loved the power that aaron projected. Every sense then i hit with power that brought serious confidence to playing. Never changed it sense.
I just remember a chick from school who liked me came up to me in class one day and gave me a burnt cd with all her favorite underoath songs and I just never been the same
i can't explain with simple words how much underoath have changed my life...their music help me to find myself in a dirty and black wood with no way out..it's hard to explain..i'm not even christian but their lyrics, their music, their feelings are so deep and powerful to dig inside my deepest fears and insecurities..now they broke up but their music will remain for ever alive (at least in my heart)..goodbye underoath...i've loved you,i still love you and i'll forever fucking love you
Underoath got me through highschool !! Can't believe it's been 10 years since I first heard this song! May Post hardcore live forever !! 2016 underoath ❤️
It reminds me of the fandom in 2010 when we all got online and watched the stream together and met a lot of fans from around the world. 11 years and some of them and I are still being friends! Thank you, Underoath
I'm in love with this band, they have saved me from forever biting the dust by my own actions. To this day, they're still the band I listen to when I'm depressed. They're the only ones who understand me and my struggles.
lembro quando passeava pelas lojas americanas e dei de cara com define the great line, comprei na hora, engraçado como underoath mudou minha forma de enxergar as coisas, com certeza as melhores letras.
0:55 that thrash breakdown/bridge up to the chorus been giving me chills for 16 years and will continue to do so. I love this shit and to this day I love and appreciate the era I grew up in and the fact my pops always pushed me to learn how to play actual instruments as well. br00t4l hahaha
I remember seeing this vid as a young kid on MTV and the wires/ropes freaked me tf out but loved the sound. Was my first memory of Underoath I can remember as well as writing on the walls. Been listening ever since 🤘
Its like eating a 3 course meal, you feel satisfied and full. ❤ And to me, idk about anyone else, but to me, if praise and worship was like this (with the levels of passion they display) then i would be FRONT AND CENTER every time! With hands in the air and love at my side! 🤗
Was fucking awesome hearing this song live a week ago. And the whole album for that matter.. So much more to it than the vocals, all of there songs are solid. Can hear that southern vibe at some points with those chunky power chords.
I listened to this album everyday afterschool when I was 17 after I walked to the subdivisions river. The song "To whom it may concern ' felt like listening to a rebith/funeral song. It was deep.
"I know why you!!! never take your eyes off of me! I use my lungs for everything but breathing!!!!" Love this song every lyric is great on define the great line
These guys are absolutely amazing definitely one of the best metal bands in existence I've been a fan for years and years I usually will go through bouts of listening to a specific band or bands and stop listening to them for a long time and then start listening to them again and repeat the cycle because I get burnt out overplaying their music but underoath is one of the very few bands I listen to constantly and have always listened to constantly I never got burnt out by them
I was 16 when this album came out. I had already been a fan since TOCS, but this album was different. Really defined my high school years. Helped me through those lonely years. 34 now, and it’s still crazy to look back at those times.
Still remember the first time I ever listened to this band was way back before the original singer left. Still love this band after so many years of listening to them, just never gets old or boring to me.
Remember waking up in the morning in 7-9th grade MTV or Fuse or VH1 playing the morning music videos , that's how I got into many different genres of music, this shit is still amazing to this day, the memories it's brought back
Got the chance to meet them for the very first time two days ago in NYC. Their performance was extremely amazing (: and they played many of their older songs. Can't wait for the future performances! UO for life 💕
Ikr it sucks for me cuz I started to listen to their music a little bit after "Lost In The Sound Of Separation" came out I barley got to listen to them while they were still a band xc
Destiny harris I know what you mean in a sense because I caught wind of this band right when they released "They're Only Chasing Safety" around 2004. Underoath had a presence like none other and I basked in it. Their sound was original and they generated their own energy without mockery and still backed the name of God. I did research on some of their stuff prior to 2004 and I can totally say that with every proceeding album, their message grew stronger. I was 12 in 2004 and hard times came my way with the passing of my father. The band has totally helped me finish growing up in the past decade and no matter what that is something I will cherish them dearly for!
Arlene Payne It's shameful for me to admit but I discovered Underoath while going through ''One time song mixing duo THE legion of doom internet band'' which had ''Dangerous business since 1979'' so I went to check original version IM SURE GLAD I DID and that was 1st time I heard Underoath and i'm hooked since . The album ''they're only chasing safety'' is my main playlist while going on trips off town. And I discovered Underoath persay Early 2012 before that I was obssesed with The Used And Escape The Fates Very 1st albums and still am. And it was sad that I got to know underoath for so very short as they went to disband in 2013. ANYWAY it's the best melodic metalcore I ever heard and I'm GRATEFUL on imesurable scale.
Same. I've been listening for a couple of years now and I think they're great. Baffled why some of their best tracks have less than 2 million views. Undescovered gem's I'd say.
This is the first “screaming” song I discovered when I was younger, little did I know what a door it’d open up. Thank you Underoath for being such an important part of so many lives.
I’m 31 now and haven’t listened to this since I was 19. The awesomeness of this song/band coupled with the nostalgia...no words 🙏
brooooo never stop lol
Never gets old

The most awesome band in the world but original underoath is just as awesome
This song is what got me into post-hardcore and rock music in general. +guesswhaaat You know they're back together, right?
InsidAero Yes but i love their older stuff with Aaron, especially Define The Great Line, my favourite album.
guesswhaaat Oh of course, same here, I just thought it was awesome that they're having a reunion!
InsidAero Of course it is! :) they are gonna do a reunion tour in 2016.. can't believe it's been 10 years since they've released this album.. what is your favourite song ever by them? Mine is "A moment suspended in time".
:)
guesswhaaat Hmm, tough one...But it's gotta be either this song, Reinventing Your Exit or Writing On the Walls. Absolutely in love with those songs.
This is my favorite Underoath song, hands down! Ugh! The feels!! I was in high school when this came out
Same here man! I feel ya
The time has come for you
To sit this out
To fit inside your mold
And would be to sell myself short
This ground we tread upon
Is now filling up our necks
We turn the pages left to right
We see everything
Oh, my story's growing, it is
On my last request
Don't make me feel so contradicting
There's no room for cheating and being
Yourself
Failure leaves such a bitter taste in their
Mouth
And on the last hour
We write so many new chapters again
And on the outside
Wehre there are no surprises
Oh, it's getting longer
To see it through their eyes
Would bring me so much closer
You can do this night after night
Failure leaves such a bitter taste in my
Mouth
Taste and see, I swear I know what's good
Be still and know that they won't lie to you
Every single time you're facing lies
I know why you never take your eyes off me
I've used my lungs for everything but
Breathing
I find myself dried up in this conversation
So pull me out, pull me aside
Whether it's about god or not, I love passion in music, and you can definitely hear it from underoath.
Listened to this album straight for a year on a CD player every day for sophomore year, I've kept it in memory
Basically happened to me too.. :) UØ will always be an amazing memory
Your not alone on that
+SAIYANLINEAGE \\\\\\\\ I was listening to sound of separation non stop but decided to branch out and this is my fav. thanks
