SCheco3 oh, another idiots thinking every sample is just a complete rip-off😂. Its only like the first several guitar cords that are sampled in Hellboy. Plus, you know even classic artists have used samples before right?
God, these lyrics speak to my heart so deliberately. Years ago, after a darker time in my life, when I was lost, I rediscovered my faith and was reborn with an enthusiasm and fire for God that nothing could extinguish. Now, because of complacency as a result of my life's improvement, that flame has slowly flickered down; I feel I am once again losing my faith: "How the freedom we had turned us up as dead men". I am still so grateful that I was saved, but my heart still yearns for the relationship with God I once had. I know there are others who have experienced the same. I pray God will bring us home once again. We won't forget our forgiveness!

After Define the Great Line (my favorite and also the first one I ever heard of them back in 2007) this album sounded even darker and sometimes more chaotic. It took some more listening to appreciate its greatness.

From reading the Lyrics, this song really resonates with me. I go away from God because of my pain, but I find that he is what gives me life/hope/purpose. I go back to him because He is the only one who would still be there at the end of everything for me.
Not sure if Ill ever give up Underoath, they've meant so much to me throughout my teen years until now. Much thanks to the band for writing and performing music which has had such an enormous impact on me.
Even tho I'm not Christian I definitely want to join the choir at my mothers church just to play songs like these and introduce everybody to new styles instead of modern Christian pop. I just really hate how the Christian pop sounds. Why are they trying so hard to copy mainstream music? From my expirience with christians, christianity clearly isn't about being mainstream and "normal" 🤣 so the music should probably reflect that and not copy every aspect of pop music.. I don't care if it caters to most people because "if they're Christian they should just deal with it if they don't like the music because worship is worship." -mother. I mean youre not gonna like EVERY song. these are people who think this genre of music is satanic which is just completely wrong. So many bands from this time that were emo or rock and such were also Christian or had Christian members like the devil wears prada, we came as roman's, breaking Benjamin, Emery, copeland, and skrillex!

Shit, Great Fucking Song! When I was 17 this was big for me too. I'm now 23. my older brother's name is Brandon also. we always listened to this music together when we were younger... crazy shit man...
People should really give this album a few more spins. It's easily the most underrated album I've ever listened to. It's heavy in a way that's somewhere between metalcore, symphonic movie music, and the chariot at times. They did so many creative and intense things and it's one of, if not the only unedited album I've ever heard.
Jake Mannix yeah check out the behind the scenes videos for this album. The amount of editing and mastering is minimal to the point that the producers took issue with it. Most of the guitar tones and feedback are recorded from mic feeds outside of the amps rather than line into internal effects and the vocals are pretty untouched. I thought this was a fitting first song to listen to as a farewell. Playing all their albums today, this band helped me through a lot and made me who I am today. If you can't find yourself, find god. I'm agnostic (if I had to label myself...). I found myself instead. I understand why people choose to believe in god but let's not make it into a cult. You don't need religion, you need god. By god I mean a force after life that fills the void. I believe in that, I just don't need anyone else to know, or respect me for these beliefs. Religion is too self absorbed and dangerous to be what any higher power would want. Just my opinion. This song is awesome by the way :)
I always find it interesting reading the bible how angry god gets with empty sacrfices, going so far as to say that he wishes someone would close the temple so people would stop pretending to worship him until the poor and sick were cared for. So as a devout christian I agree, God doesn't want self absorbed religion. :)
I appreciate your honesty and openness. I enjoy this song very much, great meaning, and good rock build up musically. Personally, I understand what your saying about religion bogging things down. We are not cans of soup - we don't necessarily need labels. In this life, we should focus less on the labels of religion and more on the relationships at hand. Personal relationships with others, and a personal relationship with God through Jesus' works on the cross. The first lines: "Good God, if your song leaves our lips If your work leaves our hands Then we will be wonderers and vagabonds." This life is ultimately meant to point others to God - so we can all spend the afterlife with him.
Underoath is considerably religious metal. A lot of there music "including this song" derives from there beliefs. You can listen to the music and enjoy the sound, and even enjoy the message you feel it brings. But that doesn't change the actual meaning of the song. No need for cocky people to come and smite religious folk. And no need for religious folk to feel the need to defend a song.
Underoath from the psychiatric ward in 2008 to all over states in the U.S. with Jesus 2023. Non stop. Good album.Jail with Jesus and psychiatrics. Petty. But I'm out of it. I been through that. Still hearing the LITSOS album. Underoath is kool. Later gators.
I remember discovering this song while browsing the "On Demand" channel from my cable provider (TWC). Good times. Many wont know what I'm talking about.

I always find it interesting reading the bible how angry god gets with empty sacrfices, going so far as to say that he wishes someone would close the temple so people would stop pretending to worship him until the poor and sick were cared for. So as a devout christian I agree, God doesn't want self absorbed religion. :)
I grew more spiritually reading a couple verses from the bible than I did my whole catholic school teachings.
I'm a non believer and ive always loved Underoath. So talented.
Good God, can you still get us home?
This comment is ironic with your picture being dark souls art
James is awake?
My grand children will know of underoath.

Art in the most beautiful form.
We're still here...
2019 and still epic
My trails of late have been very dark, this song always brings me conviction as I turn to Him for what I need.
Song of the current ages. How the freedom we had turned us up as dead men.
