This exact VC Simple-Date you reviewed here is the ONLY high-end watch I would buy.
I prefer it WAY more than PP and AP.
The silver dial would be my first choice, but would be happy with blue, brown, or black.
Great job, thanks!
Thanks for the comment!
Agreed. Blue would be my choice.
Nice time piece.People who enjoy a watch like this, they are not only having money but also have taste.
I own the blue Overseas. I love it.
Brilliant choice!
Can Yüksel vay be alacam bu saatten. Abi Rolex öldü herkez çakma taka taka bitirdiler
Matti Von enden Rolex in piyasasi cok farkli.
It comes with three bracelets?! More brands need to do that!
The rose gold and brown dial version is stunning.
My Favorite w/blue dial , with blue rubber or leather straps is awesome ! Plus the size is perfect !
the over seas is my grail watch , it used to be AP and PP not anymore
beautiful piece on my radar. forget your hype. They are available new at retail and at a discount to 20%
Beautiful. Underrated. It is the best materialization of the Genta aesthetic concept. IMHO, absolutely superior to the Nautilus and the Royal Oak.
I think both are great,i dont know why but i prefer the ap look, something is wrong on the vacheron, perhaps because she try to look like an ap?
One of my grail watches. This watch is not perfect although the bracelet comes really close. I think that VC should make some changes to the date window. The black and blue version have a white date disc and that shoudl be black or the same blue as the dial imho. The Overseas Chrono is great because size 42.5 is a great size for my 8"+ wrist, but the date window is a mess on the Chrono. VC should stick with the big date like on the Overseas 2 version. The ultra thin 40mm gold version should also be made in steel. That would be a true winner! Finally; this VS overseas with a big date double date or day date or annual date would also be very interesting imho. Thanks for the review.
If the date disc matched the dial color like AP does on several of their models, this VC would be flat out perfect.
they made a mistake bringing the ultra thin case to the white gold variant only. a 40m VC overseas ultra thin in stainless steel would have been a direct competition with the 15202, 5711, 5167 and easily taken market share from the other Trinity watchmakers. at 41mm and 11mm thick, this is more of a Rolex style sports watch, and I don't think Rolex and VC have the same customer base.
I agree.. the first generation VCO was only 8.4mm thick, more elegant and IMO an absolute steal at current prices.
VC really nailed it with the new overseas, absolute love them
Thanks for the comment!
how new are they ? when did the new refernce come out ?
@@andyreiter6253 SIHH 2017
and before that which movement or what did they have ? like do u remember how different was it ?@@IULENZA
@@andyreiter6253 the new recent generation released in 2016 with in-house movement, the previous generation, the movements were from JLC and Fredric Piguet
Saving to buy my VC
I'm confused between choosing nautilus or overseas
It would be perfect if they added an instant date movement and hacking seconds to the movement
And also an hour hand that points at, not overlaps with, the hour markers. Apart from these things it's great.
No hacking seconds and no quick hour hand adjust is a deal breaker at this price.
defenseandsafety what do you mean with quick hour hand?
It comes with a steel bracelet, rubber strap, leather strap and deployant. Who cares about hacking seconds?!?!?
has anyone noticed an issue with the 4500 overseas when you change the time, i noticed if i pull out the crown to change the time sometimes it doesnt engage the hands and the crown just spins without changing the time at all
Yes, I guess, this is normal. Same with my Overseas, if I pull out the crown too smooth and gentle. I double-checked it with two other new Overseas at a local jeweler/watch-shop (with VC boutique): Same behavior!
The watchmaker gave me the tip, slightly (!) turn the crown back and than forward. But just a little bit - like briefly „tension“ the crown before setting the time forward.
Works pretty well each time, for many moths. No more spins ever since. 👍
Are those hands black or silver?
You don't really say why the VC is much better than the AP, apart from the fact that you prefer the VC. There is much more to a watch than the bracelet.
I will try to answer for him:
Antimagnetic,
Better water resistance
3 straps,
Quick release sistem
Half the price of a PP
Availability
I own the blue overseas. It has the most stunning blue dial. And the waiting list is about only half an year. Royal oak blue dial takes ten years for waiting. Why not choose the same level high-ended watch overseas?
Yes
Looks even better than AP.
Can theVC Overseas 400v be used as an everyday watch? Thanks.
The stainless steel versions of the 4500V are for everyday wear. Then again....you could wear a solid 18K rose gold model everyday too!!! I could get used to that! However, once I own one in 18K, I’ll probably lock it in the safe and only wear it a few weeks a year.
Why is the blue dial so popular ?
My grail watch right there!
Overseas dual time blue 🤩
Camera placement needs to be closer... Too many details difficult to see properly.
May I ask what wrist size do you have?
It’s the one of the three that hasn’t dated and doesn’t look like something that went out of style in the 1980s but people still buy because they’re icons. The Oversees is the one that’s timeless.
the previous Overseas does look dated, this one might be timeless but I'm not sure about the markers.
@@toobalkain Ha! Ha! Ha! This dial - and particularly on the 18K rose gold version - is the very definition of “timeless” if we’re talking about good taste and understated sophisticated style. It’s not even a contest. But the AP Royal Oak bracelet IS TIMELESS AS WELL. Don’t fool yourself. AP has earned their reputation the hard way. People DON’T “just buy them because they’re icons.” Of course, that’s a factor, but people buy a watch for a host of reasons and iconographic status is probably way down the list in most people’s minds. The VC Overseas Ref. 4500V is absolutely the best value on the market today in the haute horological space. They’ve raised the bar with the 41mm case and three bracelets. PP and AP had better wake up. And I don’t care what ANYONE says: the Caliber 5100 movement with 60 hours power reserve from VC is far and away a superior movement to the old, aging Royal Oak caliber they use in the 15300ST/15400ST and although the 15500 uses a much improved movement, the indices on the dial are TOO LONG. That dial looks unbalanced because the case is so freaking massive across the wrist due to the extended flares where the bracelet begins. The Overseas has a grace to it’s 41mm that draws you in to the dial and bezel, while the bracelet shimmers in the light in much the same manner as the Royal Oak bracelet; the Overseas bracelet isn’t as heavy but it’s just as substantial, albeit smoother, with less dramatic lines. As always, VC clings to the archaic because they KNOW their customers and their customers have very refined tastes.
@@closer71 I love VC and I agree with most of what you're saying, but I was talking about the previous time date model, 2nd gen three hander, the one with numbers and asymmetric date window, for my taste that designed just isn't as timeless as, say, Royal Oak's or Nautilus'.
those corners would attract dusts so bad
Royal Oak is overdone by AP..Vacheron on another level
These are easily available in the boutique because they're just not as in demand as AP or PP
Inaccurate. They’re tough to find, especially the blue dial, and even at the boutique.
I'm a VIP and had to wait 6 months to get my pink gold blue dial chrono.
Oh, that is very, very nice ...
It’s the “better watch” if you go into the details like water resistance, antimagnetic, extra straps, movement and such. But unfortunately the AP and the PP are just overall better designs in my humble opinion. They are just so well designed I highly doubt there will be a better sports watch design in the future! So at the end of the day it’s all about that! Then again, in my humble opinion!
Great review btw!
The PP design looks old and out of style. Sure it looked amazing when it was first produced same as a Testarossa but when you compare it to the interior of a Mercedes w222 the Ferrari looks like it was built from LEGO. So does the PP.
VC Overseas is certainly very good 'value prop' compared to Royal Oak and Nautilus etc... the only thing is it wears big/poorly for small-medium sized wrists.
True. The thing looks monstrous on a moderately sized wrist. 😁
@@roelhoremans5887 it looks reasonable on Watchbox review Tim's 16 cm wrist... it's true, though, that I've seen some horrible wrist shots around the internet of dudes with skinny wrists rocking this beautiful watch, but wrist sizes are rarely mentioned. What is in your opinion the smallest wrist that could handle the 4500v?
I don’t know... I’m 6’ 1” and only 185 lbs. and I wear a Ref. 16600 Rolex Sea Dweller 40mm everyday and have for decades. It doesn’t look big on me at all - this Overseas’ 41mm case can’t be much bigger, can it??? We’re talking only ONE mm difference here...?
@@qxuzjaekquxq_99 To each its own, if they enjoy the watch, let them be. who are you to call it “horrible”
I have medium size wrist and it fits perfect
20900 it’s overpriced it’s beautiful but AP PP still nicer in my opinion hold there value better after you leave that boutique your losing at least 8 grand
Wrong. On Chrono24 today, there are three VC Overseas with white dial, pre-owned with box and papers up for sale. Asking prices are all between $15.5k and $15.6k. That’s about $5k less, not “at least 8 grand” as you say.
asking price not selling price@@davidofglenbrook4487
@@davidofglenbrook4487 those people who sold it to the middle man took an additional 10-15% bath so yah, it still works out to $8k as soon as you leave the boutique.
VC is for watch lovers to show off to other watch lovers. No way it will retain value.
Really? That's not true. Find me one that is about $12K-$13K, as you suggest, and I"ll buy it for you. More like $16K-$17K on the secondary market.
@@aaronmunro5818 again, probably the first time was too difficult to understand. Anything you find online is from a dealer. The dealer is making 15-20%. So the dealer bought from the private seller for $3k less than what they are selling for.
You can't buy it (except private) for $13k but you sure as hell can't sell it for $16k either.
Curious about the robustness of the movement of VC, i heard PP and AP movement can be quite delicate . At this level the service cost is no joke.
A service runs $1,500 to $2,200 but these VC movements go 5 to 7 years between servicing. In my experience, the VC is much more robust than either PP or AP. But a PP is usually much stronger than an AP caliber - AP movements tend to need service A LOT. And each event is $2,500+
@@closer71 yes AP watches are very bad quality and have a Lot of issues….and the service cost are crazy expensive compared to most other luxury brands.
beautiful top watch ❤️
the top of the Holy Trinity .. VC.
Beutiful watch
Thanks for the comment!
Both the blue & brown dial rocks!
i still don't get why VC is better then PP or AP. i saw closeups in VC and these are just horrible in detail.
Tristan Pouw probably referring to sloppy finished logo and applied lumes in other videos
Watchmaking aristocracy.
It's obviously better since it came out so many years after the AP. At that level, it's not about logic. It's about emotions and AP still wins hands down.
Girard peragaux lareauto is better then all 3
Sorry but a 100 dollar orient has hacking and this vacheron doesn't. Pretty inexcusable for the price they're demanding
