My Mom introduced your music to us about 15 years ago. She and the family loved your music. She passed recently and requested your song Far Side Banks of Jordan and Fallen Leaves be played, to which her wish was granted. Now each day, I listen to both songs and can hear my Mom singing along. Thank you all for all the wonderful memories shared through your music with my Mom. P.S. She met your group in a restaurant in Pigeon Forge several years ago and it was one of her favorite vacations.
Elvis Presley was a good example of this song he gave. so. much love to the people of the world he was such a kind humble God loving Man. who helped people a gave so much. people used Elvis a hurt him but he was a forgiving kind of man and when he got sick a needed help they all deserted him a left him lonely but he was not totally alone he always had God w him a now he's in heaven a all his so called friends ate all like this song fallen leaves scatter all around. no one around Elvis appreciated him they were all just Jelious of him. Elvis Presley was a spirtual man who showed love to people and was always leaning a hand to help some one. he also was the greatest singer especially. GOSPLE songs that ever lived. his songs a memory still lives. Sandra Miller again fallen leaves should have been a tribute to Elvis. it's a beautiful sad song. thanks again Sandra Miller
This song fallen leaves should been a tribute to Elvis Presley. He was a kind humble man a God loving Man. Who left us a message of love to love a be kind to your fellow man but his so called friends WETE all scattered like fallen leaves up on the ground. He to had God w him and left ALOT behind. But taught us that w out love there is nothing. And Elvis was a true sad example of that STAYEMENT without love. There is nothing. Just fallen leaves on the ground. A Elvis longtime fan a friend wish I would have met him. Someday I will in heaven. Sandra Miller. Johnson city Tennessee.

I grew up in the 70's & 80's in Southern OH with my grandparents. I remember when Grandma had cancer and knew she wasn't long for the earth. She asked for this song to be played at her funeral. That little white church on the hill was so packed, I don't think I'd ever seen that many people in one place. There truly were more friends around than leaves upon the ground. Thanks for putting this up.
My Mom passed away on July 28, 2012. She wanted this song to be played at her services. It was. She was my ONLY BEST FRIEND IN THE WORLD! I miss her SO MUCH! Who could dislike this song?
I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF SEEING THE PRIMITIVE QUARTET MANY TIMES THEY DON'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THESE GUYS!!!! I TRULY BELIEVE THESE MEN LOVE THE LORD WITH ALL THEIR HEART!!!! THEY CAN TAKE ANY GOSPEL SONG AND MAKE IT RING TO THE MOUNTAIN TOPS!!!!
This was a favorite of my grandparents. I miss them both so much. Thank you so much for putting this song on here. It brings back some beautiful memories of them for me.
Prettiest song I ever heard and I've heard a lot of them in my 83 yrs. All their songs are beautiful. God has his hand on these men and their families.
Primitive Quartet was in McMinnville Tn last weekend but I didn't get to go due to illness but am looking forward to the free concert next year along with all the barbecue and potluck dishes..thanks so much as this is one of my favorite songs.
In loving heartfelt memory of my dad's late boss Fermin Wade Jr.The founder of Wade's Body and Frame shop that is in my Hometown. They played this at his Funeral. He was a good man.He has more friends now then leaves upon the ground.

I love this song. It's so touching to my heart. They played this at my uncle's funeral. He was like a second dad to me. I cry every time I hear it and it's been 26 yrs ago.
Thanks for the post. This song was song by a frind of mine in meny church's Would love to hear him sing it again. But He is singing with the angles now. Great song, and love the Primitive. Would you have them singing I was that man?
I love this song, it sure has a message in it. The Primitive quartet are from the same area I am . They have a singing in the fall here. There are not many singer like them. They sing the old fashion way of singing. I guess that would be the proper way to say it. Thanks for sharing these beautiful songs.
I, am just so inspired by the Primitive Quartet, I, truly hope to have this song played at my farewell. I, was actually born on my Grandfathers farm where he donated a corner acre for the community church and it was named Mt. Zion, so the area became known as Mt. Zion. God willing, my ashes will return to the beginning. Thanks.
My papaw and I used to sing this together all the time, it was my favorite song when I was little. I'm 40 and it makes me think of him every time I hear it.
this brings back so many memories....my mother used to sing this on dad's radio program, " The Old Folks and Shut - Ins Hour". in West Virginia., years ago.
My two favorite songs by Grandpa Jones are this one and "Neighbors". For those of you who may not know, the late Louis Marshall "Grandpa" Jones wrote it, and the last few words of this song are inscribed on his headstone.
Thanks Darlene I did not mean to come across as saying anything negative in my comment, it was Joe Mullins singing it at SPBGMA that I got the idea that Granpa might have gotten this great song while attending a funeral.... you think? We do love the Primitives.

Chorus
Fallen leaves that lie scattered on the ground
The birds and flowers that were here cannot be found
All the friends he ever had are not around
They are scattered like the leaves upon the ground
Verse 1
Lord let my eyes see every need of every man
Make me stop and always lend a helping hand
Then when I'm laid beneath that little grassy mound
There'll be more friends around than leaves upon the ground
Verse 2
Some folks drift along through life and never thrill
To the feeling that a good deed brings until
It's too late and they are ready to lie down
They're beneath the leaves scattered on the ground
Simply beautiful. I love this! Grandpa Jones would surely approve.
