The idea of frye fighting us with the dead corpse of octostomp is surprisingly grim if you think about it

I mean the game lore is literally we all went extinct while the dab lived on this is already a pretty grim game
I imagine the dlc version of her fight is gonna be a combination of her and octostomp redux, with this intro quote being:
(Third time's the Char- "Insert eels flying out of it's face" AUAGH7AGSJDURBRIS-)
And a thing that could happen is that when the coat (which is noticeably bulging) buckle is broken it let's out a huge flurry of eels which act similar to tenta missiles
Technically it could be an Octostomp shell, since Captain Cuttlefish mentions that that the Octostomp Redux is AN Octostomp.
Typically you only use “a” or “an” when referring to one out of many.
E.G.: “A rabbit.” “An octopus.”
5:46 He said "AN Octostomp," and "Agent 3 took down ONE OF those back in the day" So it's possible that the one in Splatoon 3 is probably a random one that Frye found, meaning the real Octostomp is probably okay.

Fun Fact: The Octo Stomp has appeared in Splatoon, Splatoon 2, Octo Expansion, and Splatoon 3, beating D.J Octavio as the boss that has appeared the most.

@@lwfcanes8514 frye uses the octostomp in the same way regular octostomp does. They do it smarter as they use their eels as the main attack. This is really up for debate whether it's octostomp or fyre that's the boss but I like to think it's both

Octo is the ever returning boss of this franchise, but i felt sad when just the shell appeared in Splatoon 3.

@@veleroxin107 I don't think he's necessarily dead, just turned off. Octavio has no Zapfish to power the Octostomp, so of course, it's not going to be active.
Maybe Frye found the dormant Octostomp and decided to use it as a nest?
@@GideonOfnir or perhaps octostomp wasn’t in his shell, we usually see his legs sticking out of the armor/shell, so maybe he’s just looking for something better.
For everyone worried that Octostomp is well and truly dead in 3, worry not, I do believe those are other Octostomp shells in the background, meaning this is likely another Octostomp, one that either died or was never used. Our favorite mighty man is still out there somewhere.
Plus, in Octo Expansion, Cap'n Cuttlefish says it's "AN Octostomp", implying that there are more than one.
Sadly I am pretty sure those aren't more octostomp shells because they are round but the reply above me has a point

When I saw Frye's fight with the massive husk I was like "what'd you do to my boi octostomp!" I certainly hope dlc brings him back in all his stomping glory but only time will tell as of now
if frye is in the dlc I hope the octostomp holds a grudge against her and wants revenge for using its shell to house her eels because the octostomp can come back from the dead because hes a special boi

Some of us will wonder… if it’s the Octostomp shell in Splatoon 3, what do you think must have occupied from the inside? I’d probably imagine an oversized Octotrooper occupying the unit, but consider all the moving parts involved…

Well dj Octavio did say someone kidnapped or stole his troops so maybe one of his troops were controlling the octostomp which is why it’s only the corpse

POTENTIAL SIDE ORDER SPOLERS
i think the Octowhirl actually returns in Side Order? There's a boss called the "Pinging Mariarcle" which looks very similar to it (i watched the overview trailer so i know this!)
We need a DLC or something where the entire story is about Octostomp. He isthe most recurring boss in all of Splatoon, beating DJ Octavio himself. Don’t know how the could do it, but they could most definitely pull it off. Plus, octostomp could work great as a final boss. Just make him supersized
Octostomp is like the Axe and Bridge Bowser battle it has so many ways you could change it to make it more fun or difficult or just change it to see what would happen so there is so many things you could do for Octostomp battles that the other Octo weapons don't really have especially the Octonozzle
I hope Nintendo keeps this chain going for all of the Splatoon franchise.

remember that octo stomps are just giant armor for giant octarians, so in 3, thats probably just an empty armor, its like seeing an abandoned tank in the war.

in octo expansion cuttlefish refers to the octostomp in a way that makes it seem like there's more than one ("an octostomp" "one of those") so im assuming between 1 and 2 the numbers of octostomps increased, and they're some kind of elite soldier

Just saying, love this character development for Octo stomp, went from easy but neat to still neat but a little harder, skip a few steps and he arrives at his penultimate form, a long dead husk being inhabited and controlled by parasites

@@thenooblet7535 This fight is the only time someone ever says there are multiple. Even in base Splatoon 2, he's referred to as THE Octostomp, not AN Octostomp, so it's probably the same.

It is amazing how the game evolved from just a unknown nintendo game to something very popular. Even tough i miss playing splatoon 1. I mean yeah seeing the spaltoon 2 trailer before it released made me feel hyped for it and nintendos like:
