  • I'm waiting on some parts for the axle seals and brakes so in the meantime we will take the engine apart and see what it needs.

Hi Kevin I really enjoyed your video I have to tell you when you started to heat the piston and said “you just have to be patience“ and then all of a sudden there’s a1/4 piece of a compression ring on the screen and without any hesitation you say” patience was never my thing “ That was so funny I laugh out loud and thought things like that only happened to me 😀
I really enjoyed the way you dealt with that oil pump that was genius! And axle grease to prime the pump that a great idea also! Thanks for sharing your wisdom I appreciate it more than you know I wish I could come up with ideas to fix things like you do!
How do you feel about fibre gears ? And also how do you put the cam gear back on in the right position? I almost forgot it was good to learn how to measure the bearings! How do you clean up the crankshaft? Carry on Canada 🇨🇦👍

I have had the fiber gears before and just put them back if they were ok. The cam gear only goes one way(next video!), I polish up the crank with strips of emery.

What kind of stud extractor do you use to pull the cylinder head and manifold studs? I need to order one of those. Does it hurt the threads at all?

Its a cheap harbor freight cam style stud puller. Yes it mars them. So then I use a thread chaser to clean both ends. Or sometimes I just chuck the lot of them and use bolts. They came either way over the years.

    Gordon here,
You say you order parts for the tractor, Do you have a special place to order from or is the site on the internet. The reason I asking is I also live in Alberta Canada. I also have old Minnie M-5 tractor . Which is hard to get parts for. Maybe not looking in the right places. I also have 2 ford tractors , 1 a 9n other 8n And when I found your site I save all so I can go back for needed info.

I get parts from Steiner Tractor in Michigan and Just8Ns in North Carolina. You can also find Canadian sellers on ebay with tractor parts and there are some parts on amazon.

I have an oil problem, oil in radiator. Oil psi at 60 lbs - can I reduce the psi with a different spring - hoping to avoid leakage. Any guess where oil internal oil leak is ?. Going to remove head first & install water remp gague.

The only way oil can get into the cooling system on an N is a cracked or porus block. There is no oil in the head or the head gasket. I would do a full cooling system flush and clean, oil change and monitor. If it happens again, the block is likely junk. BUT many times previous owners used dirty buckets to put in coolant and contaminate it with old oil or even mix oil in the coolant thinking it will save the water pump. 60 psi oil pressure is excellent and do not mess with that.
