We live in corn country in upstate NY, our neighbor is a corn farmer, we actually live in the original farm house that used to belong to the farm built in 1901. We have been slowly restoring it ourselves so I totally understand the process involved. Love what you’re doing, and what you’re all about. The AC guy is here and he commented on our home renovations and was telling me about his 5acre ranch. I asked him, Do you watch Cole the Cornstar?” He said YES and I was so happy! 😄 It’s the little things. 😄. My husband picks on me a little for watching you guys. When removing plaster make a hole in the plaster with a Hamer, do not puncture the lath. Then take a straight edged shovel and use that to scrape the plaster off the walls. This is way easter than smashing it all with a hammer, this also makes bigger chunks of plaster, so they are easer to pick up.

    • @brettstahl1686
      @brettstahl1686 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I was thinking. I use a shingle shovel and it works great. Then when I do the ceiling, I punch through he lathe and turn the shovel perpendicular and pull down. No need for a ladder that way.

      You’re right. They definitely need to be cautious with those beautiful floors. Drop something on the wood and end up with a gouge to sand out and lose the natural patina. I’ve used 3/8” fanfold insulation to protect delicate floors. It is the insulation board used to install new siding over existing siding. It is relatively inexpensive and does a great job protecting floors.

    One thing you need to do is use cement and make a mound around each post. Raise it about 4 inches that way water won't sit on you post and cause rotting. Your post will last twice as long.
    Hope this helps

    AWESOME VIDEO, Cole!!!! We got to watch two projects at once! You and your friend did such a great job taking down all that plaster! It's amazing that you got all three rooms done in just one day! The guys working outside did an outstanding job getting all those posts in place. It's so fun and exciting watching you work on your house!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing this fun video!!!

    Not meaning to bring up old history, but Nave has a history of breaking, running over, bumping into things.....watching over putting the tele-handler in place is a good idea! The porch and demo work are going TREMENDOUSLY well! Congrats on the beauty of your Kentucky Blue grass! 🏔👍❤️️

    That Noah is a workhorse❗💪👍
    Using the potato fork was perfect. Trying to get it off in larger pieces was great. Using tarp on the floor so you could gather the debris up in it and toss it was a huge time and work saver. Finally tossing it out the window into the loader was another great efficiency plus, although a chute directly into a dumpster would be even better❗👌
    Love seeing all of this work on the house. That's how I originally found your channel. That porch will be done in no time! Justin has a hard-working son in Austin! You are fortunate to have them both❗👍🥰
    Please get a scaffold❗ It will save you time, energy, and wear & tear on your body. Your time frame is too long to rent, but can buy interior scaffolding for ~ $100 ish. You have LOTS left to do and it will be well worth it❗ 👌
