Beautiful rant about the industry monopoly lack of ambition into pushing the fragrance market into new levels of creativity and product quality. I mean, there's over a thousand ingredients available today, several times over what just a few decades the classic perfumers of the last century had on hand to work with - so depressing.
I really want to get my hands on a sample of Belle Âme... what a first impression description! Here's wishing samples are available in EU soon.

I agree with your disappointment I'll say that to start.... But I'll offer a different perspective respectfully... Expecting large corps to be and do anything other then what they do, which is appealing to as many people willing to spend their money , is an exercise in futility. As enthusiasts and connoisseurs with the inclination, wherewithal and will should just do our part in moving the needle by supporting smaller and more dedicated entities like Eugen. Not spending my money on that mass appeal bs is the best way I can say no... Great review Ramsey. Keep up the good work. Hope you feel better ✌🏻

Being a cheapass while marketing your product as the greatest thing ever is a wonderfully profitable venture! All it takes is a reputation of illusory quality. It's the whole gravy train analogy. All you have to do is get it going and then ride out the reputation. The fuel ran out long ago. Important to remember that perfume is a side gig for designers and how many normies would care anyway with chems getting increasingly bad press? Much more disappointing when niche brands do it, but times do change and we all have to adapt. I'm personally very interested to see where the average consumer will be putting their money in the future as that will likely determine the strategy of the remaining big corporations. Will people eventually start sniffing and thinking for themselves? Or will the "everything is better than ever" mirage endure? My hope is that it'll be the former, and the recent increase in indie brands could be emerging evidence.
Absolutely agree and great point about frags being a side biz for many of these houses... your point about the rise of indie is spot on... and the rise of vintage prices show many are catching on as well 😊

OMG, I could not agree with you any more! We have all been “taken” with everything else going on in the world, it is pretty sad when our beloved hobby of fragrances are doing the same thing. However, that is the way in the world with everything at the moment. Ramsey, fix yourself a hot toddy and you will feel better. Some of the ingredients are tea, whiskey, honey and something else. Google it or ask Alexa what the ingredients are. It really works.
I adore Iris. So would an Iris lover love or like this? To me, a beautiful Iris could bring tears in my eyes.

Think I am going to go with 31 ... but Belle Âmi is very good 💪
small independent companies don't hardly spend money on advertisements, and therefore they are able to use high quality ingredients in their perfumes. so for large mainstream companies, they spend 10 times the a mount of money for advertisement comparing to the actual cost of materials. so for a $250 perfume bottle, they probably spend $200 for advertisement, and the other $20 is the cost of the materials.

Ram. Ok look. As I said, I just got Eugen’s sample pack yesterday. Iris is my favorite note 100%. I just sprayed this on about 20 mins ago. The dry down could smell like literal shit, and it’s nonetheless full-bottle worthy. This opening is like having a religious experience. This is sublime. I’m speechless.
It is an amazing perfume... I would love a full bottle one day

totally agree on the industry teaming up and just absolutely blasting their prices through the roof for less quality. I don't know if it's the instagram effect. recently i have been feeling very much like that with FM, which I still love. Anyhow, I just ordered samples of all three Les Abstraits and super excited after your review

The midnote sounds very interesting.
Furthermore, to truly know if they used high quality orris (iris) is to spray it on clothing, wear it all day and the next day after you wash your clothes if the iris still there then it is a high quality iris otherwise it might be synthetic mixed with iris butter.

Belle Ame is just superb, its my favorite from the brand. Very addictive, reminds me of the moody iris from La Pausa
Have you sniffed Musc des Sables ? The chocolate Musky Iris reminded me of Belle Ame instantly...both are good...but that style is not my favorite

Just received a sample. Wow. Very special. The quality of ingredients stand out immediately. In fact, my wife caught a scent as I walked by and said, “whatever you are wearing smells very expensive.” I get a 70’s cypher vibe but it’s soooo much more than that. I get more rose than some reviewers have. There is a artistic quality about this fragrance; smelling this makes me feel like kouros used to make me feel…like I was on edge of something new. There are a handful of short stories( The Dead as an example,) that I have read that make me experience the entire gambit of human emotion and this fragrance manages to do just that.It’s a must have for me, and I mean I must have hit…it’s not a choice.
Wow what a beautiful comment to read... i think much of the community almost suffers from PTSD from hearing about these youtuber brands like Galleria and Navitus and then being so dissapointed... Les Abstraits is the real deal and they are a brand for people like us... perfume lovers...not the masses 😊
@@RamseytheRam right, unfortunately TH-cam is overrun with millions of channels selling various crap. There is a cadence and a language to the format. The frag community has its share of guys hawking sweet laundry detergent frags, but there is a subset that is authentic in their passion. Your channel opened me up to this subset. I want to thank you for that.

You sounded really good and you look healthier and more like your healthier self. I hope I can find and order a bottle of Eugene’s perfume. Antoine Lee has always been amazing and I have several of his earlier perfumes but his newer ones, but not his most recent ones, although I am sure they are incredible, they are way beyond my budget. Follow your nose !! It always knows. Fruit loops were awesome back in the day. Btw But I really don't like smelling like one. Except i bought one of my favorite Ralph Lauren Big Pony #2 & # 4 kinda smells sweet and spicy fruitloopish 4.2 oz and came down with covid right after buying these expensive bottles and almost lost my mind trying to understand why I couldn't smell it and wound up wasting those bottles . I also bought Encre noire and totally disliked it a few months ago but now I understand it and love it.
Yes! That covid story is brutal 😥
But congrats on the encre noire ... one of the best vetiver scents of all time 😁

Slightly powdery but not to much to put me off .. the descriptor i forgot to use in the review that popped up later in my head was nutty .. very interesting frag for sure 👍

Haven’t tried the scents. I don’t generally go in for TH-camr perfumes. It’s just that there’s so much to try as it is.
I understand... but for me the love of perfume comes ahead of everything else. I would never put my integrity on the line even for a friend. If they were bad I would say they were bad. In fact, that is the whole reason I started my youtube channel I was tired of the shills. That bottle of La Douleur Exquise I showed in this video, I bought that with my own money. It was not a gift from the brand. I have zero reason to be dishonest or fluff up a fragrance. In fact if you watch the review, i compared it to a Chanel and I ended up buying that Chanel (should be here next week) over Belle Âme...
Long story short this brand is really perfume for perfume lovers. If you know the story with Anotine Lie & Remy you will know the ingridients are top notch. This is not office for men lol.
Unfortunately its a hump Eugene and the brand will have to get over, this discrimination against youtube Brands. From one frag head to another I can tell you they are worth sniffing. If you get your nose on them and you disagree, I would love for you to report back on your thoughts. But if you love fragrance and lets say you have sniffed 100s if not 1000s of perfume... You will instantly see what these are & I think once you have sniffed them you will understand where I am coming from 🍻
@@RamseytheRam Re: TH-cam brands, a bunch of bad actors have poisoned that well for the foreseeable future, as far as I’m concerned. I’ll probably miss out on some good stuff, but I never have to worry about getting conned by shills. Shame for the guys whose hands are clean, but I’m not sure it’s wise to make the leap from reviewer to creative director in the first place. Ebert didn’t make movies and promote them in the same space where he did his reviews, you know? I prefer the two worlds not meet, but these guys will do fine without me :)
Impressed you’d be able to publicly criticize a friend’s work. I couldn’t. I have enough trouble being frank to friends in private when giving feedback on creative efforts, so I can’t conceive of publishing an online video where I negatively critique a friend’s work. I don’t have the reviewer’s spirit, I guess.

I understand what you are saying but there are 1000s of trash frags a year ... i am telling you these are worth a sniff.... i would say the same thing whether it was a 20 dollar Animale fragrance or a 1000 Roja. I do think its silly to let a few of the handfull of great fragrances that come out per year to slip past unsniffed just because its a "youtube" brand but to each their own 🤷♂️
BTW Eugene knows any sample he sends to me I reserve the right to say anything I want about it... good or bad ... thats my rule 🐏
