    Masalong snake shadow. It has a sharper curve more akin to the traditional design, razor sharp and is pretty cost effective. The regular ones are 24 dollars and change up to around 25 and the damascus version is a little over 40 bucks I think on Amazon. It's my personal favorite for a low key, compact, fixed blade karambit. I'm seriously considering the top-tac karambit on this video as my second favorite just for its shear size but I'll save my thoughts till I can get my hands on one. (I'm not an advertiser or anything I just really like the knife)

      Gotta agree. I've owned several K-bits over the years, both folding and fixed. Including Emerson's venerable Combat Karambit. Though, in my experience, nothing even comes close to Fox's 599... Think you should send me one of each so I can compare them!
    Like your presentation videos. This was blessedly quick paced & gets to the point(s) so to speak. Much better than listening to so many ‘reviewer’ prattling on about a whole lot of nothing and seldom doing more than “ohhhing & ahhhing!” over most anything on their tables. They’re not all like that of course but you sure do have to wade through a sea of silly to get a bit of info.

    I just got a Spyderco Karahwak and a CDHK Karanto. They both have a lock back design, not liner locks. I must say I am not impressed with the Spyderco. It has a faint and shallow sounding "click" when the blade locks open. It only requires a slight press of approx. 1/16 of an inch or less to unlock the blade. And as it wears in it will only be less. The lock spring is not very strong and it is a thin blade. The CDHK Has a strong & thicker blade lock with a louder "click" in the open locked position. Instead of a 1/16 , it requires a 2/16 - 3/16 of an inch press to unlock the blade. And it's not easy to press it to unlock the blade but then again I was never in a super hurry to close the blade. I wouldn't want spring tension to be sacrificed just so I could close the blade fast.
    And when holding the Spyderco in a traditional manner like you see in this video your thumb rests on the blade itself. Putting pressure on the blade trying to close it. The CDHK has jimping and my thumb rests right on the end of the handle and blade lock spring putting pressure on it. That pressure helps keep the blade lock in the down position to keep the blade closed and locked tight, not adding trying to close the blade on your own fingers! Sure the Spyderco is super fast and it's blade is super thin allowing it to slice with ease. But how do you make a lock back really fast? Give it a soft spring with not much tension, make it thin to reduce drag between blade and lock back, and make it have minimal travel from lock to unlock position.
    I'm sure it's great for some people. It's fast to deploy and you'll like a true pro when removing it from your pocket really fast when making a video but for me I just don't trust it. It reminds me of a fishing reel with a week bail. You go to cast it and the bail closes. I hate that!
    Maybe I just worry about it too much, that's why I do not have many knives with liner locks. For some reason I really like my fingers. And I like them uncut. I wish I could check out a Fox 599-XT with the lock back but none are available as of 4-2020.

    I don't think I've found my ideal kerambit yet. While I love the design of the huge ass monster kerambits on this video, the whole point of carrying one of this is that they're supposed to be easy to conceal and carry, while still packing quite the punch and enabling you to do certain things that you wouldn't be able to do with a straight edge. I think the next one I'll try is probably gonna be a fox kerambit replica, since they look like the best design for EDC (but there's only one way to he certain).
    My favorite kerambits so far are the cheap butterfly kerambits (because they're super fun), and the Chinese inexpensive kerambits that are pretty much identical to the first one shown in this video (only problem is that they're too big for a kerambit, and the sheath sucks ass and breaks easily).

      I need to ask besides the folding action and quick deployment of the fox 499 or fox whatever number what makes it better than a fixed blade karambit once it is opened? I have the Honshu Karambit at number 10 and its a beautiful blade I personally prefer fixed blades over folding because the locking mechanism is nonexistent and it will never break thank god I have never had to use it to defend myself but I would honestly like to know how your fox karambit is better

    • @chrishatton865
      @chrishatton865 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Quinn you just answered your own question.. apart from the quick deployment and the bonus of it being less than half the size of a fixed blade and its ease of concealment their are no more benifits over a fixed blade.. also if you live in a country like a do the U.K. You have no chance of carrying a fixed blade in public so that is also a bonus of the folding fox

Check out a few Doug Marcaida vids, get a dull practice Karambit and a training partner AND sound instruction. Then practice for at least a year. Otherwise, just collect them and don't carry. Same goes for firearms, BTW.

    If anyone wants to learn about Jesus Christ read the Bible or reply and I’ll send you some Bible Verses. The outline of Noah’s Ark was found.

      "Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses."

    Of course there's no disclaimer--to make sure it's legal to carry and use in "self-defence". Too many meatheads out there . Naive. With an "action film mentality". Have no idea what happens after a situation even if one of these knives ARE used to defend. E.g. the super expensive court costs, the psychological trauma from being in their first knife fight...and in the case of this knife..having just gutted another human being...assuming it's a one-on-one fight...rarely is...
    I bet most meatheads think what happens afterwards is...LEO talks to you for 2 minutes and lets you go on with your life. That's it. And you're not traumatized. Like in a cheap action film.

      That's why you subscribe to a legal defense program like US Law Shield to cover you no matter what weapon was used assuming you were not carrying in a prohibited place and what you were carrying was not prohibited in your state or jurisdiction
