Ashley Yu learns how to make Mohinga (မုန့်ဟင်းခါး), a Burmese rice noodle and fish stew that her mom, Lily, used to serve at the family’s former restaurant, The Golden Triangle.
Thank you Ashley and Lily. I haven't had Mohinga for years, but your video has inspired me to try making it today. All the best to your and your family!
The best and most informative mohinga video I found on TH-cam - loved hearing their story and family history and its ongoing importance to the daughter, as well as the mom giving such a great explanation of the recipe... thanks!
I learned about this great dish from my Taiwanese friend who has tried it in Taiwan. I am so hooked up by the concept of this noodle soup and I can't wait to try it out during the weekend. (I live in NorCal but I am still struggling to find a Burmese restaurant that serves Mohinga)
I am surprised you didn't put yellow lentils in the soup. Our family recipe has the lentils soaked overnight, then boiled and pounded into a paste to add to the pot as a thickener.
Mother/daughter cooking together is so endearing!
It brightened my day finding other burmese/chinese making a video of my favourite food, can't wait to attempt it myself
I am a Burmese Chinese as well. Mog Hin Ka is my favorite dish and I can have that any time of the day.
Thanks for making my day.

I substituted slices of lotus root for banana stems and it tasted good.
