  • In this video, I give a quick walk through of the features of the fjallraven abisko dome 2 tent. I talk about parts I like and dislike. Honest review and a close look at what's going on with this tent.
    Thanks for watching ❤️

    Nice review mate, the weight surprised me didn’t think they were that heavy. 🤔 My Hilleberg Nammatj 2 is 3.4kg with footprint and yeh the footprints are ridiculously expensive. The pole sleeves should be continuous like you say, I imagine there a pain in windy conditions having that gap. Nice tent though and fjallraven tents get really good reviews. No matter what tent comes out there’s always good bits and bad bits I don’t think the perfect tent exists. Liking the microphone placement at the start. 😂 atb Karl 👍

      Cheers mate. Yeah I love the tent, there's just a couple of bits I'd change. The weight is the price you pay for the sturdiness, I guess. I caught a glimpse of the mic and thought, Jesus, that's fluffier than I thought. I might shave some fluff off 🤔😅.
      Cheers for watching Chief!
      Dan.

      I think having the poles sleeves continuous over the top would block up the majority of the roof vent? That blue colour would be the most visible in most changing weather conditions, not great if you are trying to blend in but a good safety feature if going to remote areas.

    • @LakeDistrictOutdoors
      @LakeDistrictOutdoors  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a fair point. Yep, agree that the blue is 100% most visible, great for hitting the mountains, no doubt! I just like to be hidden away, especially when solo. If the conditions were bad enough though I can see the benefits.
      I'm currently toying with the abisko lite in blue. I do like the look of it. 😊
      Thanks for watching buddy.

    Glad you’re enjoying the tent! I have the Keb version in pine green with the groundsheet and am really loving the room. This line of tents is very handsome when pitched.

      Thanks for watching mate. Yeah, I love it. Hopefully, with time, the pitching will get easier. There's always going to be features that aren't for everyone though eh. The Keb is an absolute beast! I was torn between this and the keb. I went with slightly less weight vs the durability of yours.
      I am looking forward to testing mine in the snow. Have you had yours in much bad weather?

      I completely understand your choice with the size and weight. I’m able to just barely secure the tent under the floating hood of my Keb 52 pack. It’s a real squeeze even with the poles strapped on the side.
      Love camping in thunderstorms and have seen some crazy winds a result. The outer tent makes a lot of noise like most tents but the inner is quite stable. Never have been afraid of collapse!
      Your color looks perfect in the Lake District. Feels like part of the land!

    • @LakeDistrictOutdoors
      @LakeDistrictOutdoors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @robertblaine5012 sounds awesome! I'm yet to have it in anything crazy. Apparently, the flysheet does move a bit to allow for some give in high winds. If they were drum tight, the stitching would take all the strain, I guess. I do love the colour, I do a bit of winter camping, and I was tempted by the blue one to be out in the snowy mountains 🤔.

    Get ya drift here with kneeling on the tent like you would be devastated kneeling and putting a hole in it and the rectify option yeah defo looks a nice tent tho to be fair just ashame the designer let these flaws happen rigid tho it's sounded like a drum when you flicked it 😂 I've just bought the one man msr dan and I love it for a solo but I've been told they leak I'm yet to find out like good show around mate honest and straight to the point that's what counts mate good job buddy loving the toggle door idea at the end

      Cheers mate. Aye, there's no point in not being honest, eh? It's flawed, but I do love it, and I would buy it again. I'm surprised the MSR tent leaks. I've never had one myself but know that folk really rate them. Cheers for watching mate. 🙏👍

    Looks like you have removed the annoying strings beneath the tent (assume to keep tent in shape and free standing). I have just removed mine too after tripping over then continuously. I have the Keb Dome 3 in blue, it is massive, used twice, so will use for car camping moving forward.
    I assume removing strings will cause no issues once pegged in and the groundsheet attached. Anybody else had this issue?

    • @LakeDistrictOutdoors
      @LakeDistrictOutdoors  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven't removed them. I forgot to mention them, though. I've used a cloud peak 2 for 3 years, which uses webbing straps in a similar orientation, and I've had zero issues. I must admit, i do get tangled up when pitching. I've not used my footprint yet, so I'll keep you posted on that.
      The keb 3 is a beast of a tent!
      Thanks for watching. Much appreciated 👏

    • @homeuser9787
      @homeuser9787 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LakeDistrictOutdoors Thanks for the reply, I think the strings are a really bad design (get tangled easily as you mentioned), maybe Fjallraven should have used the Hilleberg/Cloud Peak straps example of keeping the tent freestanding. The Fjallraven footprint is excellent and connects to the tend to keep it all as one.
      I got the Keb3 Dome blue half price, I would not have chose blue otherwise, I have seen the blue in snowy Sweden and it blends well, so maybe that is reason for the blue.
      By the way , I have enjoyed your videos.

    • @LakeDistrictOutdoors
      @LakeDistrictOutdoors  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @homeuser9787 I might look at removing them if the footprint attaches and holds the tent shape. I really do like the UN blue. It just wouldn't blend in 90% of the time. I agree that in the snow, it would look great. I may even get the blue abisko light for winter stuff....but I won't tell the missus! 😅
      I'm glad you've enjoyed the videos. That means a lot, so thanks. Hopefully, as time goes on, they should get better. We only started 10 months ago, so it's been a steep learning curve. Cheers, Dan.

      My first night using it i woke up to some pretty crazy wind. The inner was going crazy. Couldn't tell you what the wind was and I didn't film. I will be getting out in the hills this winter though. Watch this space! :)
