Having the antenna so close to all of the benchtop stuff will seriously affect it's impedance. It would be nice to see its match when centered on a vehicle roof absent nearby reflective objects ...
Maybe I can get this antenna and start using APRS so every man and his dog can follow me around and know my every movement ? I've always wanted a radio based equivalent of facebook.. Anyway, nice test of this antenna. Quite amazing really. Nice to see some R&S gear in practical use. A nice little video, thanks :-) Now for the tin foil hat....
Well exactly. You never know when the Abwher are going to smash the door in. Yes, I like my privacy and like being out of the light and out of the way of people. That's why I'm on you tube - totally private..... But seriously, why do amateurs want to replicate systems that have been in service for decades ? APRS is just AIS. And 5Ghz links are like 1960's technology. We should be thankful that there's plenty of real estate for us to spread out because it'd be fairly busy if everyone was stuck on 40 and 20m. So I'm happy for people to play Microwave links, APRS and FT8. And let's thank The Gods for the 80m band because without it we'd have all those bed sores on 40m. Anyway, let's not take any more fun out of amateur radio - there's precious little left. Keep making the movies and I'll keep watching - from my apartment in Paris.

Thanks Ade. Why would someone with a callsign like yours want to beacon his position?
