No, this was done in 1995..around the time of the highly anticipated Beatles Anthology series and Beatles/Threetles reunion recordings. A clever and timely spoof!
"Wrong lads " I remember this commercial. I was starting to become a big Monkees fan so I thought it was hilarious. I knew who Ringo was but I hadn't fully discovered the brilliance of the Beatles
For what it's worth Peter is a vegetarian too (and doesn't eat tomatoes!) but he did the commercial anyway because of the chance to work with Ringo. Can you blame him? LOL
I forgot about this commercial, it was shot in Vancouver, BC because Ringo could only work so many days in the US-something to do with taxes. Mike agreed to do it but wasn't included because of schedule conflicts. Ringo did not eat the pizza, his contract stipulated that because he is a vegan. Ringo got a very nice day rate, as a bonus he was very professional and fun as were the other "lads".
I love them all!!! I actually got to see them all in concert, Ringo @ Radio City for his 70th birthday (when Paul McCartney showed up!!!!!) and the Monkees (excluding Mike) on their 45th anniversary tour @ the Beacon ;)
Great commerical....I wish someone could find the commerical with Ringo and his daughter Lee in a car. Ringo was being chased by screaming ladies in their '50s.
This commercial is more than 10 years old. So, no, it's not still on. Maybe closer to 20. It was done in the mid-late 1980s, at a time when people STILL wanted a Beatles reunion and at a time when the Monkees WERE re-uniting.
Didn't this commercial came out either early or mid 90's??? Man! I remember Pizza Hut prices were relatively inexpensive...For that time. TIDBIT: There was an interview with Ringo Starr about doing the Pizza Hut commercial...He ALMOST didn't do it because of his "vegan" beliefs (which included not wanting to sample a bite from the pizza)...Notice, Ringo doesn't open his mouth to pretend to eat a slice of the pizza.
All 4 of them were/are vegetarians, but they ate the crust, not the meat. I'm a vegetarian, I have been my whole life, and I eat the crust of the pizza, even if it had meat on it. There is a vast difference between being a vegetarian, and a vegan(sp?).
Just saw the Boy Meets World episode with The Monkees in it. I remember watching it as a kid but not knowing why everyone was excited for these three guys to sing. Mystery solved!
I dont think its that old. I could be wrong, but I remember seeing it on tv. And if had been done in the 80s the guys wouldnt have looked as old. They look older from when they were on Boy Meets World. And that was in the 90s
0:27 "Wrong lads." the only thing Ringo said about the Monkees. John told "Nayuz:" "I think you're the greatest comic talent since the Marx Brothers." Paul said: "I think the Monkees are going to live up to things they didn't expect in the Sixties." And George said, "The Monkees are still trying to find out who they are. When they get it all sorted out, they might turn out to be the best."
Nesmith saw the Monkees as a silly pop-type band, and he was a serious musician. He had several solo records in the 70s which were critically well-recieved.
..WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS?!?!?! WHY?!?!??!?!?!?!?..of course,I WAS at least 6 or 7 when this was made..but still..I KNEW WHO THE BEATLES WERE,AND I ALSO KNEW WHO RINGO STARR WAS..AND I NEVER SAW THIS!!! D;
This commercial (advert) is more than 10 years old and it's a bit late to get upset about it now! I thought it was clever, at a time when people STILL wanted a Beatles reunion and at a time when the Monkees WERE re-uniting.
He was referring to John, Paul, & George. The "wrong lads" were Micky, Peter, & Davey. It would have been cool if Pizza Hut done the commercial with The Monkees--including Mike--instead.
there was micky dolenz, davy jones, peter tork and mike nesmith. i think after the series mike didn't really want anything to do with the monkees (i'm not sure though). no, he didn't die lol.
Hey Dim Sun. The clue is at the end of the commercial when Ringo says ''wrong lads''. He was expecting Paul John & George. And at the start of the comercial Everybody is supposed to think that Ringo is talking about The Beatles re forming. Get it now?
Yeah, I know. I'm only kidding. Ringo could stand as a Tory MP and I'd probably still like him. To prove it watch: 'Macca and me'. It's about macca obviously but you can be sure our geeky love extends to Mr Starr ;-)
because his mom invented liquid paper, and when she passed he inherted the millions since he was her only child, and with his millions he can do whatever he wants including starting his own band. I like to see him with the others as well, but fussing over it isn't gonna make him join them. I just enjoy the others, and thankfully Davy and Micky both have huge personalities, even if Mike was there you probley wouldn't notice him anyways. Love Micky, Davy, and Peter
Micky actually went through a very thin spot on his headin the 80s and did ended up getting a piece or a nice weave, because when I saw him, his hair was thick. I guess he got tired of worrying about it. Micky is cool though!
Or The Grateful Dead or The Allman Brothers Band or The Doobie Brothers or Pink Floyd (post-Waters) or George Harrison's Concert For Bangladesh (which had Ringo) or John Lennon's Live in New York
It was late when I typed original comment, so I made an slight error. The commercial is, I believe, from 1995. So certainly more than 10 years old (as I said) but not closer to 20. But it is so old that Mickey still had hair ;)
I actually remember this commercial. I had no idea the Monkees were on a comeback until I started hearing their songs later.
AHHH I love it. A fan of both the Monkees and the Beatles, I love seeing them together. And 'wrong lads' XD got me
Me too 👍
*Mike Nesmith off camera*
"Hey, I want some pizza."
Ringo travels to the beat of a different drum.
I remember this commercial. It's cool and Ringo and the Monkees had class.

"Wrong lads " I remember this commercial. I was starting to become a big Monkees fan so I thought it was hilarious. I knew who Ringo was but I hadn't fully discovered the brilliance of the Beatles
Ringo, Micky, Davy & Peter. What a very cool combination!
i love pizza hut and it's so cool that this commercial has ringo, davy, peter and micky! i love the beatles and the monkees!
For what it's worth Peter is a vegetarian too (and doesn't eat tomatoes!) but he did the commercial anyway because of the chance to work with Ringo. Can you blame him? LOL
Not at all!❤
Never saw this. Awesome commercial !! Thanks for uploading!!
I forgot about this commercial, it was shot in Vancouver, BC because Ringo could only work so many days in the US-something to do with taxes. The commercial that united both Monkees and Beatles fans.
I totally remember when this video used to be on tv! Beatles AND Monkees, perfect combo!
Now all they need is Donovan and a Beach Boy😆!
A really fun video Beatles and Monkees fans will enjoy. Proves that the Beatles and Monkees were great friends.
I love Ringo's low-key self deprecating humor...clever ad.
Best Pizza Hut commercial EVER!
I love them all!!! I actually got to see them all in concert, Ringo @ Radio City for his 70th birthday (when Paul McCartney showed up!!!!!) and the Monkees (excluding Mike) on their 45th anniversary tour @ the Beacon ;)
wrong lads
This video is funny to me because my dad met every Beatle except for John, and I just met Peter Tork last week at a Record Store.
Great commerical....I wish someone could find the commerical with Ringo and his daughter Lee
in a car. Ringo was being chased by screaming ladies in their '50s.

Between the above commercial and the below comments, this is EASILY the best TH-cam page on the site.
So the Montles aren't getting back together? Nor the Beatkees? Rats!
...Oh wait.. the Rats never broke up
Oh, that's cute. I don't think I"ve ever seen this one before, but I like it.
Oh my Gosh...this is such a treasure!! Thank you!!!
The Beatles were NASA and the Monkees were Star Trek ;)
;p I havent seen this ad in ages thanks for sharing this
Yeah, around the same time he got his teeth done. Around 86-87. This was before his pony tail phase.
"Wrong lads" that's classic
Actually George was still alive when this commercial was made.
Both bands had great songs, and that's what counts.
Just heard that Davy Jones has died. I had to watch this again. RIP Davy.
So did Peter.
And Micky would say, "Dignity? Since when did we ever have dignity?"
Didn't this commercial came out either early or mid 90's???
Man! I remember Pizza Hut prices were relatively inexpensive...For that time.

If Ringo merged with the Monkees back then, that would be awesome!
Just saw the Boy Meets World episode with The Monkees in it. I remember watching it as a kid but not knowing why everyone was excited for these three guys to sing. Mystery solved!
Well, Ringo was part of the Beatles, which was better known than the Monkees. I wish they had Mike there.
Fun fact: Ringo is actually allergic to onions, garlic, and spices. He stated that he’s never had a pizza in his life.
so, he's great for this "crust first" thing, it's really the only thing he could eat
*snort* I love this. Ringo, you rock.
I dont think its that old. I could be wrong, but I remember seeing it on tv. And if had been done in the 80s the guys wouldnt have looked as old. They look older from when they were on Boy Meets World. And that was in the 90s
Great commercial! And I normally despise commercials.
that was weird, scary, and epicly AWESOME, all at the same time.
GREATEST COMMERCIAL EVER!
Mike Nesmith was like, "Sorry. I still have some dignity left."
"....wrong ladds!" Love that!!
I guess Ringo was hinting at a Beatles reunion. But wasn't the only other surviving guy at this time Paul?
George didn't pass on until 2001.
love it!
I wonder who really ate the Monkees' pizza for them.
Beatles should have got together on Occasion like Simmon and Garfunkle .
The musical loss of their seperation is tragic.
That is the best ad ever very funny i wish it was on is australia
good bye Mr. Jones...
RIP....
I LOVE RINGO :)
0:27 "Wrong lads." the only thing Ringo said about the Monkees.
John told "Nayuz:" "I think you're the greatest comic talent since the Marx Brothers."

I miss Davy and Peter.
ringo is still around
'wrong lads' ... i love ringo.. hes so moody in interviews.
Hey lads, I want to eat pizza with you!
that's a hoot! I remember that one!
"Wrong lads" lol
I'd order that combo...it already has extra cheese!! Love it!!!
This made my day
Me too
The fans will dig it they waited long enough.... Ill just say lads the time has come! To eat are pizza crust first
The Beat-monks!
lol i love the monkees!
Nesmith saw the Monkees as a silly pop-type band, and he was a serious musician. He had several solo records in the 70s which were critically well-recieved.
Im eating my pizza crust first from now on lol!
..WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS?!?!?! WHY?!?!??!?!?!?!?..of course,I WAS at least 6 or 7 when this was made..but still..I KNEW WHO THE BEATLES WERE,AND I ALSO KNEW WHO RINGO STARR WAS..AND I NEVER SAW THIS!!! D;
*starts giggling uncontrollably* Ringo I love you! XD
i like it.
@starlessons Because The Monkees appear at the end of the ad (well three of them anyways).
makes me hungry :)
Absolutely.
I like the beatles and the monkees
This commercial (advert) is more than 10 years old and it's a bit late to get upset about it now!
I thought it was clever, at a time when people STILL wanted a Beatles reunion and at a time when the Monkees WERE re-uniting.
I like it. By the way isn't Ringo a vegetarian? Lol he's about to eat a Peporoni pizza.
I just have to say this...
I don't ask for much, I only want CRUSTS and you know they now come cheesy...
👍😆😆😆😆😆
I love how there's a guy wearing a wool hat. Must be a idden tribute to the missing (from this commercial) Monkee Mike Nesmith.
i am so ordering from pizza hut from now on
omg i remember this commercial!! even tho I was only 10 at the time! ;)
right on, the Ringmonkees!
He was referring to John, Paul, & George. The "wrong lads" were Micky, Peter, & Davey.
It would have been cool if Pizza Hut done the commercial with The Monkees--including Mike--instead.
AMAZING. RIP Davy
Davy,George and John RIP.
Jill Hammer AMEN
Jill Hammer true I miss them. The world would be probably different I they were still here
I wonder why they did Ringo instead of Mike.
The joke wouldn't work...wrong lads? 🙄
And that commercial and they're making a Ringo a monkee in that commercial
there was micky dolenz, davy jones, peter tork and mike nesmith. i think after the series mike didn't really want anything to do with the monkees (i'm not sure though). no, he didn't die lol.
cute.
Why did Ringo say Casey Junior's "I think I can," line?
Hey Dim Sun. The clue is at the end of the commercial when Ringo says ''wrong lads''. He was expecting Paul John & George. And at the start of the comercial Everybody is supposed to think that Ringo is talking about The Beatles re forming. Get it now?

I just enjoy the others, and thankfully Davy and Micky both have huge personalities, even if Mike was there you probley wouldn't notice him anyways. Love Micky, Davy, and Peter
What other lads would he mean? He would have fit in with the Monkees quite well back in the sixties.
Micky actually went through a very thin spot on his headin the 80s and did ended up getting a piece or a nice weave, because when I saw him, his hair was thick. I guess he got tired of worrying about it. Micky is cool though!
@ann2shoes yes with Peter Sellers. His best role was in That'll Be The Day with David Essex. Mind he's always Ringo isn't he.
I thoght both Davy & Peter were vegeterians
They are. At first I assumed they had veggie pizzas but I saw Davy's was pepperoni. I reckon they only ate the crust part for the commercial.
Or The Grateful Dead or The Allman Brothers Band or The Doobie Brothers or Pink Floyd (post-Waters) or George Harrison's Concert For Bangladesh (which had Ringo) or John Lennon's Live in New York
He was the hold out at the time. Didn't want to play or do the tour. Maybe he just couldn't find his hat.
It was late when I typed original comment, so I made an slight error.
The commercial is, I believe, from 1995. So certainly more than 10 years old (as I said) but not closer to 20.
But it is so old that Mickey still had hair ;)
They had the same agent at the time,David Fishof.
