Pizza Hut commerical with Ringo Starr, Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones & Peter Tork. (Beatle & Monkees)
Known as "Alternate Title" in the UK, where their record company decided it needed an alternate title as the chosen one is somewhat rude. The Monkees didn't spend too long thinking, they just called it "Alternate Title".
Trash song from actors pretending to be musicians terrible terrible music.
As a girl I loved to try and sing along to this, as an old lady I'm still trying same with lazy scouse git. Great singer❤
18 years later and TH-cam recommends this to me. Such an amazing group.
Micky wrote this song
Top five Monkees' song, for me.
the best of their songs
Banned on UK TV.
If he sounds out of breath to you, that's because he IS. This is all live and in one take! 🤘
All the girls were beautiful!
The lyric is " the seats are nauga (google says naughty) hide, a synthetic leather.
Great early jazz-rock-blues fusion song 🎵
These guys are bad.....
Peter Tork was good friends with Jimi Hendrix.
I miss him so much makes me sad thank you Steve Irwin you were such an inspiration for the younger ❤️💔
Crazy way to set up your drums
If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus Is Lord" and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans10:9
The 4 Kings of EMI? Paul, George, John and Ringo.
Remember waiting for the reruns during the summer as a kid. This is one of their best.
This is a brilliant song.
A highly underrated song from an underrated singer and an underrated band, The Monkees, although they were very very popular way back and sold millions of records. Mickey Dolenz, he's not only a good singer he's a good performer as well. This song is an amazing song as is the lyrics: "Sock it to me Floatin' down the river with a saturated liver And I wish I could forgive her, but I do believe she meant it When she told me to forget it, and I bet she will regret it When they find me in the morning wet and drowned And the word gets 'round I'm goin' down I'm goin' down Comin' up for air, it's pretty stuffy under there I'd like to say I didn't care, but I forgot to leave a note And it's so hard to stay afloat, I'm soakin' wet without a boat And I knew I should've taken off my shoes It's front page news Goin' down Goin' down Hey, hey Hey, hey Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey, hey I wish I had another drink, it wouldn't be so hard to sink I should've taken time to think, besides I got the picture straight She must have had another date, I didn't need this extra weight I wish that I could see the way to shore I don't want no more Goin' down I'm goin' down And now I see the life I led, I slept it all away in bed I should've learned how to swim instead, and now it's really got me stumped I can't believe why I jumped, I'd like to get my tummy pumped I can't believe they drink this stuff in town This dirty brown Goin' down Goin' down I'm goin' down Goin' down, hey, hey Goin' down Goin' down Goin' down Goin' down Goin' down Goin' down I wished I'd looked before I leaped I didn't know it was so deep Been down so far I don't get wet I haven't touched the bottom yet This river scene is gettin' old I'm hungry, sleepy, wet and cold She told me to forget it nice I should have taken her advice I only wanna go on home I'd gladly leave that girl alone What a way to spend the night If I don't drown, I'll die of fright My pappy taught me how to float But I can't swim a single note He threw me in to teach me how I stayed there floatin' like a mama cow And now I've floated way downstream Know this has to be a dream If I could find my way to shore I'd never, never do this anymore They give you three, I've been down nine I'm goin' down just one more time Goin' down Goin' down, back Goin' down Goin' down I'm goin' down, back, back, back Goin' down, back, back, back, back, huh Back, back, back, huh, back Back, back, back, huh Goin' down Goin' down I'm goin' down home I'm goin' back home Back to my friends Back under the warm And I can do with it, too I'm goin' home, ah Now the sky is gettin' light And everything will be alright Think I finally got the knack Just floatin' and lazin' on my back I never really liked that town I think I'll ride the river down Just movin' slow and floatin' free There's a river swinging under me Waving back to the folks on shore I should've thought of this before I'm floatin' on down to New Orleans And pick up on some swingin' scenes I'm gonna know a better day I'm goin' down groovin' all the way Goin' down Go-go-go down I'm goin' down, back, back, back Down in New Orleans, back, back, back, back home I'm go-goin' down, hey, hey, hey, hey Goin' on down, hey, hey, hey, hey I'm go, go, go, goin' down I'm goin' down Goin' down, go, go Oh, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey Got to, got to, got to, got to, got to, got to Got to, got to, got to, got to, got to, got to go Got to go, got to go back home, I'm goin' down Down, down, down, down, down, down, down the river now I gotta go, gotta go, gotta go, gotta go, gotta go"
Takes us back to better times...
The Beatles wrote it for them...
That's rubbish. Micky wrote it after attending a party with the Beatles. He actually refers to the Beatles as "the four Kings of EMI".
This was a poetic song, almost Dylanesque.
llove thislove it
December 2024, Mickey is still alive and performing
This song never gets old.
Great songs but This is my favourite song
Still hurts to this day just thinking about this. He was my Idol. I dressed up as Steve Irwin on Halloween as a Dedication.
Edgy. Who knew?
Does anybody know what Randy Scouse Git means?
To an American, it would be something like "Horny Jerk from Liverpool".
It would translate roughly to to "horny, Liverpudlian jerk". In the US it retained the original "Randy Scouse Git" title because nobody knew what it meant, but in the UK the song had to be given the somewhat vague "Alternative Title" for the single release to avoid controversy.
@VirreFriberg In the UK, it's "Alternate title", not "Alternative title".
We need 2:31 minutes of lightness in 24/7 darkness...
This is a Masterpiece
❤🎉
He sung it AND wrote it. What about that. They were a class act. X. Bye!
I'm 64, in 1986 I was 26. Our band at the time was rehearsing at S.I.R. Studios on Santa Monica Blvd in LA. We were taking a break, I was walking down the hall and out of the bathroom comes Micky Dolenz. I said "hey man, you're Micky Dolenz ". I told him my brother and I grew up watching their show in the 60s. I thanked him for all of the great music and for making us laugh with the show. He said they were rehearsing for the tour. We talked for just a few minutes. He gave me an autograph and a handshake. Way cool cat!
Micky has such a sweet voice
This is called alternate title
Only in the UK.
1:15 I wonder if this was recorded late at night, nice big yawn from Mike.
James Brown!
One of the few times Davy is playing the drums! LOVE IT!
2024 anyone? Still love and miss watching his shows so much ❤
Whoa! My 90s cassette tape version of this tune was only the first minute or so and fades out... 30 years later to realize there's so much more to the song! So awesome! Can't stop playing it!
His name was Manfred Von Riktovin
This is live singing! It’s slightly different to the studio recording. Bloody amazing!!!
The Monkees were far more musically adventurous than they get credit for.
I’m gonna cut a hole in a table cloth and spin around singing this
This is actually a live performance!! Mickey Dolenz is an absolute GOD!! 😍
Breaking Bad brought me here
Watching Breaking Bad and this came on… I recognized Mickey’s voice in an instant. Great tune and performance
