To be fair doing interviews pre internet era was considered “selling out” because it was usually set up by the labels with journalists who had absolutely no clue what or who they were interviewing. Nard really was one of the guys who changed that. He’s become a cultural icon since then.

Tyler's ability to name drop album release years, tracks, and their number placement on records is insanely cool. Even with music that is incredibly important to me, I can never remember that stuff. He is smart af, and I'm glad to be alive in a time where he exists. He is just a phenomenal mind to witness. Truly a blessing on humanity.

You can tell the way Nardwuar and Tyler connect on an extremely unique level. Both are super nerds of all things music. What I would call true music enthusiasts. They know all the dates of when things came out, even as far as magazine covers. The both get the set of it all. From alum covers, magazine covers, the actual music, collectors items, trivia, the literature, the photos literally everything. Not just the sound of music, but everything.

It mimics chess grandmasters with the recall ability.
Tyler calling out bridges from individual song numbers on certain albums resembles chess mastered remembering positions they had in games 10-20 years prior. I know they are two completely different things, but my brain instantly connected the recall memory to each of these things. Super interesting and you know they are very in tune with what they do.

Tyler love him or hate him is an artist. He takes everything about music and the culture to heart. If he loves something he doesn’t care if it’s cool or if other people also like it. He loves shit that just makes him think or vibe when he hears it. I’m the same way. There isn’t a genre of music I haven’t heard that I can’t find a certain band that makes it sound good. Jazz, techno, country, death metal, disco, pop I can find a song from all that that makes my head bop and feel good. The reason he embraced nardwuar is because he feels that same passion. One time he asked nardwuar where he got a certain record and he said “it’s from my collection, I think he’s fantastic.” And I remember Tyler just looking at him like “my nigga”.

had no idea what ASMR means so google helped : autonomous sensory meridian response.
its a physical tingling sensation that starts from the head and goes down the spine.
its accompanied with a calming, pleasurable feeling. its often triggered by sounds, but can also be visually stimulated.
reminds me of deja vu. wait, i think im having it now.....

One of the most warming videos between two guys I’ve ever seen. And to think it’s been cultivated and consistent for 7 years. Between Nardy’s numerous gratitude for Tyler and Tyler’s genuine happiness for and with him, there’s just too many words and moments to type and comment on with only 40 minutes of footage. There needs to be a podcast, a show (really anywhere), or some sort of video series with these two. Not only would it be one of the most positive and healthiest collections of content in the music industry, it would be that belly laughing humor mixed in with a type of musical education and recollection of history that’s specific and unique to only these two men. Love this, absolutely timeless and gets better with every watch.

Holy shit, Tyler mentioning _The Box_ fuckin sent me back to 99-00 during a period when we couldn't afford cable. I used to stay up late on the weekend and watch music videos in the living room till I fell asleep. Couple years later I was starting to really develope my music tastes and went searching for it but it had already been off broadcast tv for a while and was super bummed, but I stumbled upon my next favorite music channel _Bohemia Visual Music_ which was a pivotal moment because that's how I discovered one of my all-time favorite bands and eventually the broader genre of post-hardcore.
