    Definitely going to have to get the C2 before they discontinue it.
    The grip profile fits perfect for me, and I'd like to keep using the mags I already have for my P

    Carry a C2 and like the full-length grip. P is my competition gun. A C with a full-length gun would be a sweet carry gun.

      Personally, I find the CS to be my preferred coneal carry choice, definitely over the C2 and the C. It just conceals better and despite its diminutive size, it's quite the shooter.

    Also the original 2011 magazine is a non 9mm magazine shoe honed to feed 9mm, so it has feeding problems. I think the most important aspect with the c is the fact there is a 2011 out of the box with actual functional 2011 9mm magazines. The new grip module and 9mm magazine is the biggest thing developed for 2011s. I imagine it’s going to find its way to all the duty models.

    • @DrTac
      @DrTac  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have an XC and a C2 and I never had any issue what-so-ever with the original Magazines, which were designed for 9mm & 38 Super...while I, and pretty much every other Staccato owner/shooter I know, have found the original magazines to be 100% reliable, the excessive size of these magazines is completely unnecessary. Who is shooting 38 Super out of their Staccato? These new magazines allow you to cram a lot more rounds in a smaller magazine...for those who like to brag about their big hands and their need for large grips - the magazine size only limits how small you make the grip, not how large...so I see no downside to the new magazines. As for whether or not we'll see a Staccato XC or P with these grips...your guess is as good as mine!! I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

    Still dont understand why the C exists feels like the C2 covers this market. Already have the P, I was saving for a C2 but now Im in between C and C2. The one big difference is the grip modularity that sounds pretty cool but in reality, I dont want to swap a grip module often or pay for an extra Staccato C module probably at $1200 lol Thanks for the video Doc, you explained it better than other TH-camrs

      Depends really on if one wants to be a part of the proprietary mag system they are going to expand across the lineup, or stick with the existing system that can be shared by most other double stack 1911’s.
      I’d imagine that the C2 will get cut from the lineup, considering they never bothered to even update the grip to the tac texture like they did on everything else.

    I wish they had called it the C3...that would have made sense from a model progression perspective. Assigning an already used name in their model naming convention could cause confusion in some circles.

    • @DrTac
      @DrTac  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely, that’s why I’m going with “NEW C.” The only reason I can think of that they chose to use the name C, is to address that contingency of C lovers, who have been hopeful that the C would come back and this is a way of crushing their dreams and making it clear that the single stacked C is not coming back.

    • @Barry_Garza
      @Barry_Garza 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, not a fan of the new confusion between this model and the discontinued single stack. C3 would have made sense - but if you search for a "C3" you get a bunch of hits for a discontinued Sig CCO 1911 so perhaps they wanted to avoid that as well. I would've gone with "M" personally. Medium-ish size and smaller than the "P".

    Thanks for the video. Very informative. Question…is it Staccato intent to change their entire line up to the new 9 mm or “CS/new C” magazine? Is the P next? I just received a P Heritage 4.15 in November. I love it and don’t see myself getting a C for .15 inches shorter barrel. Do we see them offering grip retrofits if they are moving to the new mag? These guns are not $5k but they are also not $600 plastic glocks. They need to be carefuI not to alienate their customers. I also was confused on larger grip of the new C. I thought with the larger grip was compatible to the older mag style (P, C2, XC, XL, etc.).

    • @DrTac
      @DrTac  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So, I have no affiliation with staccato, but I talk to them a lot. I think they’re very happy with this new magazine because it allows them to make grip smaller, yet if they choose to they can still make them bigger, where the old magazines were tied to just the wider grips. My hunch is that the new magazines are going to be the wave of the future. Just to be clear though, the grip on the 16 round NEW C is exactly the same grip as the CS, that’s not where the thickness is. The thickness is on the dust cover under the barrel, that’s where they beefed up the thickness. I appreciate your comment, and I will keep you updated as I learn more.

    • @marcusjohnson5839
      @marcusjohnson5839 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The mags seem to stick out more on the CS and this “new” C, compared to the standard mag for the others.
      The official Staccato video mentioned that the idea seems to be carrying these “improvements” across the lineup. So that definitely says proprietary mags that will only work for CS and newer models once they are done. 👎🏽
      The C2 is clearly on the way out of the lineup. To me the original C had more appeal as a deeper carry/dress clothing option. I skipped the CS and went with a 19’ P, being able to share the majority of mags was more important than their marketing strategy of “1.2” grip at thinnest point…but 1.3” just like the old grips elsewhere”.

  • @Perkuhlerk
    @Perkuhlerk 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I got a C and in my opinion the C2 will bring obsolete. If you want small go CS. If you want to carry a compact to full the C models are the way. The only way the C2 survives is the mag availability- if someone already owns a bunch of that style of mag.

  • @5.11matt
    @5.11matt 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    On the new C, you can have the “short or long grip”… the short taking the CS mags or the long grip taking “18 round mags”, are these mags part of a new proprietary design of the “slimmer” magazines?? (I fully get the old mags were the rate limiting step in this downsizing process). He had just mentioned “same length as the staccato P grip” but it’s not the same grip, right?

    • @DrTac
      @DrTac  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The NEW C comes in two different lengths for the grip, one is the same as the CS' grip and the other is the same length as the P's grip...However, both of these options are for Staccato's newly designed magazines that are specific for 9mm. In other words, both the 16 round and the 18 round magazines will fit the CS, not the C2, P, or XC (and of course, if the NEW C is optioned in the 18 round length, the 16 round magazine will not fit it). I hope this was more clear.

    Ugh….. first off concealed carrying a P is easy. Second off the legacy magazine bodies are not biased on a 38 super. They are biased on 45 and adapted to 40 9 or 38. Third lots of people still utilize 38 super in major divisions.
    The cs and now c have not made the c2 obsolete. The c especially is not shorter or really any narrower than the c2. Having to have yet another magazine is stupid. Carbon copy of Glock retardation with 43x 48 launch.

    • @DrTac

      I hear what you're saying, brother, but these are Staccato's calls. I feel your frustration. Pretty much everyone I know and shoot with in USPSA shoot 9 major for the higher power factor, but there are some 38 super guys and gals out there.

    Has Staccato given any word on if/when they will discontinue the C2? And when the P and XC will get worked over with the new magazine system and external extractors? I have a P steel and C2, both are tack drivers and the P is softer and shoots flatter than the C2 slightly, but the C2 is well proportioned as a do it all pistol (minus the fat grip) and I like it so much I'll likely pick up a C when they're out.

    • @DrTac

      I have shot them side by side at Prairie Fire. The bottom line is that the CS is more snappy than the C (that is with the C in its smaller configuration with the 16 round grip length...so it's probably even less snappy with the 18 round length grip), BUT the CS is more concealable and it's far from snappy when compared to other guns in its size category. The grip is notably thinner. This is achieved because they are now using magazines that are exclusively designed for 9mm...not also 38 Super. In my opinion, the C2 is a slightly better shooter, which should come as no surprise, as it is a bit larger and the grip has more real estate.

I love staccato but this feels a bit like an Apple product move where you feel like you have what is “up to date”, then they make a few tiny changes and now you feel you need to spend more money to have the “better” (marginally) option. When I was at SHOT Show, they were pretty much telling me (without actually telling me) the the C2 was on the chopping block....either way, I'm keeping both my C2 and my CS!!

      @@DrTac Agree. I wouldn’t sell any of my Staccato’s. I’m planning on buying the XL & P by years end. I will probably get the C but like you said it’s in between the CS and C2, which I have, so not at the top of my list.

    Makes NO SENSE whatsoever!! The C2 is a 3.9” inche barrel versus 4” on the NEW C model. The C2 also uses the preferable 2011 style mags….why would another model with proprietary style mags be an improvement? This is a step backwards for Staccato as much as I hate to say it. They better NOT discontinue the C2 or they will have a lot of very upset Staccato fanboys. In my opinion, this will drive up the prices of the C2 on the used market for those people like myself who believe the C2 is the best of all the Staccatos to date.

      I don't really have any arguments regarding any of the points you have made...but the feeling that I got from the folks at Staccato is that the C2 is on the way out. In my opinion, I don't really see a role for the New C, but the fact that it exists does not bode well for the future of the C2.

      There are actually several reasons why the c is better than the c2. Disclaimer i own a P, c2 and c. The c has a 4” barrel, which many police departments mandate. This also works for ballistics as 99% or 9mm ammo is chronoed at 4”. It also has an external extractor whoch is better for maintenance and reliability. The recoil spring makes it easier to disassemble and maintain. The flush frame adds weight in the front helping with recoil. And lastly and most important, the mags. They are slimmer and made only for 9mm. 2011 mags are notorious for sometimes having issues when a full mag is dropped of rounds sticking out when trying ti insert because it is technically made for 9mm and 38 super. It would be like using 10mm mags for 40cal. So now thw gun is much more reliable and I can attest to that. Fyi I am a firearms instructor and have thousands of rounds through 2011’s alone. As a side effect of the mag being slimmer the grip is also slimmer this fitting more people’s hands. So what is the C? Honestly, it is just an upgraded C2.
      You can argue if you want, but honestly these are just facts.

    In my opinion is boils down to the ability to have a Glock 19/45 size handgun.
