Hi I'm Wendy a resin artist and crafter.
In this video I am mixing resin, copper and aluminum to make blanks for turning. I have always had a curious mind and love challenges too so this gave me both.
The is also a challenge for two lucky people in the video so please listen carefully and I will pick two people at random.
I use my record power coronet herald lathe with easywood carbides and a Taylors Mirfield pen kit.

Time you want to twist strands of wire together, try using a drill to hold and spin the wires together.

Just a tip from a metalsmith… next time you work with wire throw some in the chuck of a drill and the other end around something round in a vise. It will cut your twisting work down to mere seconds!

I make sculptures with various types of wire and resin over them. Haven’t had any problems. In fact I sometimes seal my wire sculptures with resin depending on what the piece seems to need. I wonder what carving those blanks will be like now tho. Mine aren’t really blanks
If only I was a carver I could answer that, but sadly I am not.
Resin does carve well apparently though. Why not try it out 😀❤️👍
you can use a drill to twist the wire together clamp one end in a vice or strong grips and the other loose ends in a drill chuck

Your completed pen is stunning. Very well done. It always interesting to see what folks insert into their resin and how they work out. Thanks for sharing these.
I just watched Huw’s video (which was a fail) and I’m positive he got the folded blank. Based on the 2 videos, I’m going to guess that the epoxy just doesn’t attach to the wire well enough. Yours worked because it was just wadded up and was finer wire to begin with. I’ll be watching to see if Waynes blank works.
Hope you can get it sorted and that there will be more log these coming out. When they work they are BEAUTIFUL!

Question: In a previous video, did you use a silicone spray to keep your molds in their best condition for storing? I don't watch too many channels, so I am hoping it was yours. I use the silicone oil made for treadmills 😂😂 wipe it on the after about 10 minutes wipe off the excess 😀👍❤️
