This cantata is one of Bach's most baffling and moving creations. This recording is 'top three' (imho), the other being Herreweghe (of course!) and Koopman (for once not too fast).
This is my first hearing of this cantata. It is one of his grandest. The noble chorale is long, and the movements are long in consequence, but they are never prolix. One can luxuriate in their length, orientated by frequent appearances of lines from the chorale. I am reminded of the great chorales Vater Unser in Himmelreich and .Dies sind die heiligen zehn gebote in Clavierubung III
