Do the staccato points always belong to both notes if there are two together?

at 19:05 it kind of sounds like some sort of rock song, I can't exactly put my finger down on what... but it's something. Maybe Tesla's Love song, the acoustic version. Idk tho, this is a fantastic piece

Moroney ends the Chaconne with a Picardy third (major chord), unlike the score, at least this one. I realize that there are often variants in different manuscripts. Could that be the case here? (I don't object in any case. I love Picardy thirds.)

It doesn't sound like Bach.

Rather the complaint that this piece is "derivative" or "sterile and academic" as 9/10ths of the garbage produced since 1900, we can enjoy a few more Beethoven like moments. Czerny scores with a somewhat lighter hand than Beethoven with a few more borrows or steals from others of his contemporaries, chiefly Rossini. As I have said elsewhere, these belong with the symphonies of some Swedish composers; Berwald and Stenhammar. They deserve a much wider audience and this performance is really good too. Best

In my opinion Débora Halász's versions are way better than Wooley's, plus she plays in a 16' stop Hass harpsichord which is fabulous. I'm looking forward to the 3rd album.

You tend to go faster on eighth notes. Every note is important in this style, even every short note.

Interesting work - lots of inspiration from JSB BWV 546 Prelude and Fugue in C minor through a quasi-Mendelssohn-ian lens. But effective nonetheless.

Great tempo. Well balanced accompaniment and voices. Solos are excellent especially the men. Glad I found this recording.

The Fugue theme reminds me bwv 564 fugue theme

This performance seems to be by a baroque specialist who frankly ignores the composer's marked dynamics (like a clearly marked crescendo, requiring a swellbox at a minimum) and manual changes (a dialog similar to Bach's indications in the Dorian P&F) that are in the score. I'll argue that the first few bars are fantasia like, and shouldn't be played metronomically, but with virtuoso, evenListzian panasche. If played as a duet the musicians have to synchronize somehow, and steady rhythm is the place to start, with freedom the more often the musicians perform as a duo. Since this performance was a solo work a studied and practiced performance would have more verve and take advantage of the showmanship built into the piece. The work has a lot of delightful features, including a buoyant fugue in 6/8, and I'm grateful this was posted, but just mournful that more of the structure wasn't executed as marked.
