Building & Installing Raised Train Track! LEGO City Update

  • In this LEGO city update, I start building the raised train track! In order to do so I have to go pick up a huge amount of pieces from some local Bricklink sellers. The raised train track is proving to be a challenge to install in the LEGO city but I should hopefully be able to get it all done over the next couple of days... but today was a great start!

You should rebuild that train station to accommodate the raised track, meaning the track wouldn't have to curve around it but could instead go through the station and straight on.

For the under table scene if u remove all the trains
Something u could build down there is a desert scene, possibly incorporate any Star Wars sets like the mos eisly cantina, any western style sets, maybe add some yellow LEDs in to simulate that heat
It would contrast well with the underwater scene beneath the other part of the table

Going through the second story of the ground line train station (next to university) would eliminate a lot of curves. It would also allow passengers to switch train lines.

I love the new raised train track as I do like motion in the city. Also I think having seasonal change out scenes on the table is a great idea. Keep Brickin.

You could take out the sag on that curve by having a support on the sidewalk either side of it with a long plate section between them running under the curve and connecting to the track with one of the 2x2 spinning plates to support the track in the centre on whatever angle it happens to be at. Should be pretty easy.

Hey, love the ideas for the changeable table scenes! Some Star Wars, someone else said Wild West, maybe even part of the Medieval scene which could blind perfectly with the under table scene when not on the cubicles. Also, a WWII scene might look cool or even part of an airport. I’ve also seen people say this and I agree: if the raised track goes through the current station, there would be a place to transfer lines and the station would be more visible due to the current low height.

I think if you tired of the raised track with 2x4 in the middle and 1x4 on the sides, both long way so the 2x4 are side by side in pars of 2, it would look sleek as the track doesn’t have the same gravel base because it is raised and it would give it a bit more support by sandwiching the track connections. Additionally, you twins are clearly growing, I’m sure you’re proud of them already. God Bless!
P.S. Yes, this is my second comment.

Suggestion: build a small wooden platform with tall legs that can be used anywhere in the city so if you are working in any area, it can sit ON the city with the legs in the roads, allowing you a quick surface to move buildings out of the way. If that makes sense.

Love your videos and your city progress updates are a highlight of the day for me. Been watching for a while now and you always make some great choices for your city. Just a suggestion for your raised train track, which look great, but the part of your raised track that makes the S bend by the custom train station. Just a thought, you could always have that go over the train station and incorporate a way for the figs to unload/load to the raised track through the train station.

You could build a mini version of the cement walls under the track infront of the platform and you could build a venetian style train station that servers both the ground line and the raised lines. Please like so Bricksie can see this.

Perfect time for logistics. How many elevated stations are you going to have? I recommend putting one up against the cliff wall and have a stairway and elevator going from top to bottom with a station in-between. And maybe just maybe have the "JOKER" dancing on the stairway!

i'm afraid that 1 pillar in the center is too flimsy (it will roll left and right much) and the train will fall down. I'd put 2 at the outside of the track so that's more stable. If the track flex in the middle while the train pass put 1 more in the center of the track but if you cover the center with tiles it should old perfectly even without the center pillar. Love to see the City evolving, great job!

I'd run the track next to the weird turn by the colorful post holding up the house. That post and the whole "alley" can be like a "dirty" part of the city/back alley. The many colors of lego pieces on the post remind me of graffiti. Maybe some graffiti tags on the side of a building. Jus my 2 cents.

How wide is your display table and the underground table?
Might let you work on your Castle Theme, in sections.
Do suggest you buy some Creator Viking Ships and some more Creator Castle sets, so you can combine it with your Ideas Castle and create a town near the sea, with a harbour, that's under viking attack.
Might even let you add in some of your Creator Castles as Town-Wall-Defence-Structures.
Put a ForrestMen Hidout in both the Castle Theme and your Camping Ground.
Maybe another tree build like the Treehouse one, if without the treehouse add-ons, for the Castle Theme.
As for your raised railway track, put the turn-plate on top of the pillar, that way the street edge will still look correct, turn the pillar around, so the V shape is looking right with the track above it.
As for a support pillar, how about a up-side-down U pillar?
Might also let you put the stopsigns of the road crossing, on it, for one.
And you could even go for two such U's, looking from above, as a L, so both parts of the road-crossing(s), are supported.
    Edit:
Put some rounding on two ends of the lower section of the pillars, so the cars are less likely to ram it and thus wreck the pillars, that way.
Might even make the walkway ones look better, with three such curved lower sections.
And if the lower section of the Pillars are in grey, you can even say it's concrete on the lower section.
