Lingering Will is easily one of my favorite fights in this game, right behind Roxas. I really don't wanna get into how the loop here works, but basically his RVmax is 25 and I get him to 30 after 3 combos. Learn more here: th-cam.com/video/m6W0pDYj1g0/w-d-xo.html I did this prior to beating Sephiroth (mostly because I'm bad) so I had to deal with more than 2 DMs like I usually do. Didn't take too many tries, mainly because I redo this fight very often. No no, save your applause. Jokes aside, difficult fight made much easier when I know what he's going to do.
1. I love Lingering Will and do this for fun every so often. If I'm booting up KH2 it's probably to fight either Roxas or LW. Unless you mean the entire playthrough on No Damage, in which case I have no idea. Probably never doing it again. 2. LW, like many other bosses in this game, has HP gates -- a point in his HP gauge where the fight changes (usually different effects on attacks, or allows them to trigger their DM). Unlike most other bosses with HP gates, LW will automatically retaliate upon reaching one, no matter how much RV he has. One HP gate is at 10.9 HP bars, or about 5.1 bars of damage done. Once I'm encroaching on 5 bars, I don't want to perform another combo because they're long and unsafe if he retaliates in the middle of one, so instead I cast Thundaga to ensure I reach that point safely. I'm bad at telling where exactly 5.1 bars is, so once I did that first combo, I counted the RV from Thundaga -- if he retaliated before he was supposed to, that meant I hit the HP gate. But in this fight, he retaliated once he reached 26 RV, which he was going to anyway, so I couldn't use that information to determine whether I had hit the HP gate or not, so I opted to go for another round of Thundagas. He retaliated upon reaching 28 RV, and I could tell I was definitely past 5.1 bars, so I figured I had hit his HP gate with the previous round of Thundagas, and thus I just continue the fight like normal (aside from ending a combo early to deal with his second HP gate at 2:37).
This fight is so fun, legit the only reason I even started a lvl 1 run lmao

What a masterclass.
Questions:
-how are you still sane after doing this?
-whats up with this Thundagas you used while he was close enough that you could've done a combo?
