Fun times. The southern red bellied dace is what got me interested in micros. Always fun thinking about those urban areas that no one else, or hardly anyone else has ever considered fishing.

Enjoyable video... never heard of a Gulp Maggot, but now I need to get a bag. It sounds like it will solve my problem of the bait coming off the hook when micro fishing.
Great video! Such awesome red shiners! I've caught males in MO and KS but none as vibrant as those fish. All the American minnows that get so colorful like those red shiners I would think are likely difficult to keep in the prime breeding condition in an aquarium. Water temps are probably easy to maintain ,but do they need seasonal temp changes or photoperiod light changes. Also how much does their natural diet dictate their coloration? I do enjoy finding those colorful native species and sharing with others that may not expect such diversity in our local waters.

Awesome vid. We have red fin minnows here in Cape Town area and I have caught 2 species so far. Unfortunately they are both on the endangered list..

Those are def aquarium eligible with those colors!
maybe with owner floater you will have easier fishing experience and can use as a indicator
im surprised i have not seen red shiners in the aquarium hobby
