- Ruby Weaver has man trouble: she tries to fix them, so she's stuck herself with a string of losers. Her current lover, Sam Deed, seems different: he's sweet, tender, just in from Dubuque. But, as Ruby tells her therapist about Sam, in flashbacks we see someone not quite of this world. In fact, Sam informs Ruby that he's from the future, 2470 to be exact, traveling back in time to avoid prosecution for his sister's death, and to find Ruby, whose photo he saw back home. Ruby's sure he's delusional, but most of the time she wants to keep him - and maybe fix him. Although he seems sane, maybe Sam hasn't told her the real story: what's he up to, and who is Chrystie Delancey?

I remember watching it with my then girlfriend on the classics section of Netflix back on my room at the Tesla 3 Hotel on Mars 50 years ago.

I can hardly believe this had such a limited release. The story, the acting the writing are all excellent. Everything about this story works perfectly. He is just the right kind of crazy, she is just the right kind of romantic and jaded. THIS is why you watch art films! This film is why you GO to art houses to see real acting. Can you imagine what a pleasure it would be to watch this on a rainy Sunday afternoon at some little art house? THIS is why we love movies.
I agree it had poor promotion but I'm not writing to tell you about that again. Some one is going to tell you something you shouldn't know and you will not respond . Its been almost 12 years Child. You must respond this time. Please respond. You must you wish.

This is one of the most underrated movies of all time. I still think about it to this day.

this is actually a really good movie, the twist the turns, lots of laughter and drama. give this a 9/10

Vincent is such a great actor...Not that he hasn't had a great film career but I think hes still to underrated.

I only recently realized that Vincent is the fat tragic character in Full Metal Jacket. He gained 80 pounds for the role. He said he owes his career to that role.

Totally agree! It doesn't catch the feeling of it for a second! More like the opposite. If I had watched this trailer before seeing the movie I never had watched it! And the people that watched it after seeing this, believing it would be anything like it would also definitly be disappointed!
i thought the same thing about the movie: veronica decides to die..next day i wanted to watch a movie and i decide to watch that movie just to prove my self that iam right....but i was so wrong bad trailer but movie was awesome. r.i.p. english :)

+BADSTINGTV - Yep, only thing is "Happy Accidents" came out in like 1999. I think "Safety Not Guaranteed" was definitely influenced by this movie. "Happy Accidents" is my all time favorite though.
