Um, actually the thing that was most wrong about the HunterXHunter question was Chrollos ability to summon fish because that is contingent entirely on his real ability which is to steal the abilities of other people after meeting excessively long conditions for that stealing. Basho's ability is only implied to get more effective the better the haiku, not cease to work entirely if it's not a good one.
People trying to get me on this one are instead exposing themselves as posers because they didn't read the Manga where it is implied that Chrollo lost all of his previous abilities in order to take on stringer requirements to steal a person's nen abilities which allowed him to wield multiple stolen nen abilities at the same time. So no it's probably not even a power that he currently has! You're wrong! It's not even the one he uses most he just uses it one time because it's a super cool way to kill that guy!

I guessed the MHA theme! I mean, I've never heard that particular theme, and have only watched a season of BHNA plus a few clips on youtube, but i have read a lot of fanfics. I also have the english version of peace sign more or less memorized. so I pretty much guessed because a) there was a sound resembling "Deku" in there b) it was upbeat and had a similar tone/style to peace sign and c) it was a high, younger male voice, which isn't actually that common in anime themes. so uh... thank you for your time :)
Um actually, in hunter x hunter, Chrollo Lucilfer’s nen ability is that he can conjure a book that allows him to steal and copy other peoples’ nen abilities as long as they fulfill 3 criteria within an hour: 1) he sees the ability with his own eyes, 2) the person answers a question about the ability, and 3)the victim must touch the handprint on the cover of the book. At the current point in the anime, he is only able to copy one ability at a time, and is required to keep the book open to the page the ability is on, however [SPOILERS] after his nen exorcism to remove Kurapika’s judgement chain that sealed his nen, he developed a new way to use his power which involved a bookmark allowing him to close the book and still maintain the ability (giving him 2 free hands), and could even hold the book open to a second ability at the same time.
Um actually, chrollo’s ability allows him to steal other people’s abilities, and that’s how he can summon the fish. He can summon them, but it’s not his nen ability. Also on Bassho’s ability, the restriction that it has to be a good hiaku makes his ability stronger. When you put a self imposed restriction on your ability you can boost its power in a kind of risk/reward system
Um actually Chrollo's power is a book that steals other people's nen abilities and add them to his collection once conditions have been met and he can then use those abilities as long as the book is open to that page or he has his special bookmark on the page.
Not a correction as much as a suggestion or request. Would you be willing to compile some of the more repeated Shiny Questions into their own video? Like all of the Hear Me Roar in one, or all the Once More Without Feeling?
Me: I bet these question are all going to be about recent shows that I haven't watched because I'm way more into the classic stuff. Show: Up next is a question about Galaxy Express 999. Me: You know what, you called my bluff and I respect you for it.
I’ve never heard of any of these and have spent most of the episode obsessing over all three of their glasses and trying to read background book titles 😊
In the web serial worm, there is a super scientist called Bonesaw who can in fact eject her spine and head and use them as prehensile weapons. Among other things she also carries a liquid that grows into a full lab in her femur.
this this episode is super old buuuuuuttttt um actually Chrollo power is to "barrow" others powers and store them in his book, that he can use them at anytime. rendering the person who had it unable to use it.
Ugh, the Urusei Yatsura one is such an age test. I know a remake just came out, but I haven't checked the music for it. Urusei Yatsura is such an 80s/90s otaku thing cuz we were all up on Rumiko Takahashi works back then. I only know it because my Uncle had a laser disc of all the songs from it and recorded it on casette for me and I listened to it constantly.
They went a different direction with the PSG question than I expected. "Panty can transform her underwear into guns" is also incorrect because she can only turn her underwear into 'a gun' (singular), not 'guns' (plural). In order to wield multiple guns, she requires additional underwear from someone else (mostly from Stocking, but also that one episode where she steals a bunch of underwear from random teens in an attempt to find an adequate weapon to replace her usual one).
Um Actually, that Hunter X Hunter statement is all wrong. Basho is just shitty at writing Hakus so what he creates is trash, and Chrollo's actually ability is to steal abilities with a book after four conditions are met.
I was right there with her the evangelion one was obvious, like before I recognized the shapes through the pixels I saw the color pallet. Also there are bears in Japan
26:46 this segment had me shouting at the screen. Getting the classics wrong is already painful to watch, but having the guesses be way the f off course hurts all the more. 😩😫
Wow, shoutout to whoever was making the decisions for what to have as questions here. I can say for absolutely certain I have NEVER heard or seen the mere presence or thought of series like Galaxy Express 999 and Tatami Galaxy outside of otaku circles. And they made sure the Hunter X Hunter and Galaxy Express 999 were um akshully pronunciation too lol
I had completely forgotten the ending of PSG and went to check, and I was immediately struck with the same feeling of "yeah, let's wait for next week's episode because there's no way this is the ending"
Um, actually, Makoto Kusanagi looses her entire body by the end of the first movie and exists as a Ghost by combining with an AI. She's shown in a child body later (which could not accommodate an adult spine and brain) and several other bodies which she transfers to at will.
Even at the beginning of the movie, the cyborg has what's known as a "cyberbrain" which is a new organ hybrid of an individual's original nervous tissue with cybernetic components. A cyborg's can even have their consciousness downloaded into a new cyberbrain if, say, their previous one has been destroyed. There are indeed some biological elements remaining in her brain, but it is a stretch to say her brain is biological and there is no telling whether it is even her original one.
It's the same in the anime and manga too, she jumps bodies with just her ghost quite frequently; very unlikely she still has her original organic brain (especially considering she was cyberised as a child, doubt the spine would grow to adult size in a full prosthetic body)
Beyond that, the first Um actually.. was right, they aren't a secret group, their actions are classified for sure, but they are known but literally every other agency and government workers. They quite literally introduce themselves as "Public Security Section 9" everytime they see cops or other authority figures
In fact in different adaptions and in the orginal manga the answer is different. In the movie she has her brain and spinal cord. In SAC, she has a fully prosthetic body. IIRC, in Arise they mention that there is some original biological material remains, but the way they say it makes it seem like less than a full brain. I'm not sure about the manga, live action movie and PlayStation game. There are some other differences between different adaptions as well. For example in the movie full body cyborgs can be recognized on sight. Whereas in SAC prosthesis look entirely like the real thing and a cyborg can't be identified until they do something unnatural. For the most part this distinction doesn't matter, but Gouda specifically is a full body cyborg who pretends to have his original body, including disfiguring scars. And there's an episode where Pazu may or may not have been replaced by a stalker.
It wasn't the Good one! What's up People by Maximum the Hormone is so much more recognizable. The World sounds like 90% of any generic shonen opening, like it would fit just fine in Naruto.
I think they were related, but I thought that as well, since I think they establish it isn't the droppings itself and bat poop is kind of liquidy, but it was more a build up of that nitric acid from the bats constantly pooping. To be fair, they don't go into huge detail on that and it doesn't really factor in much as I recall
Um, actually the entire planet was hit with the petrification beam, the area of the beam covered all of earth, yes senku did count to keep his mind active but others weren't driven mad their minds simply stopped functioning and turned fully to stone, senku with his active brain made it easier to become unpetrified by the nitric acid in the bat guano
14:00 in a book called "Legion of the Damned" their cyborgs have what they call "brain-boxes" which are cubes that they effectively smoosh the brain into and comes attached with a handle and a heavy dose of drugs to incapacitate the brain while it is being transported. So when they get damaged beyond repair, their bio-bod (effectively regular soldier that accompanies them) can hit the eject button and pull the brain box to escape so the cyborg can get a new body and continue fighting... it is stated (in the book) that veteran cyborgs are worth platoons of bio-bods and should be kept alive even at the cost of regular soldier's lives... there is an ongoing debate vs the use of cyborgs or tanks as being more effective.
RE the final question. I LOL when people tell me they ate a Kobe burger. The entire point of Kobe beef is the fine marbling of the fat. 1) if it's ground Kobe, it's not from a premium cut. 2) Once you grind it into burger meat, it's pretty much like anything else. 3) You should probably garnish that with some useless gold flake for $200 more.
@@benjdelphi His nen ability might be to steal other peoples abilities, but using those abilities consist of his powers. And if Um Actually is anything it's very nitpicky.
Um Actually Chrollo's ability is stealing abilities and stores them in his grimoire, saying that the Fish Bones is his ability implies he is a Conjurer or Manipulator when in reality he is a specialist.
I wanna suggest a question/statement "In syfy's the magicians there are multiple niffins the chronological order of when they became niffins are 1.The niffin that learned how to never be boxed (don't remember his name) 2.alices brother 3.Alice 4.quintin Coldwater" This will be a hard one because of multiple reasons 1. Fans of the books and not of the show will not know about Quintin Coldwater being a niffin 2. The order of how the niffins are shown are as follows: Alice's brother, Alice, the guy who learned how to permanently stay a niffin and finally quintin Coldwater 3. There are time resets in the show and in timeline 40 Wich is the timeline we are following Quintin Coldwater never becomes a niffin 4. In timeline 23 however Quintin Coldwater was a niffin, and that timeline took place before timeline 40 The correct answer would be "um actually it is 1. Ok am I crazy? I was 100% certain that in the original ghost in the shell movie Kusanagi is fully cybernetic. There's a whole thing where she wonders whether or not she's real because her mind is uploaded. At what point is it established that her brain and spine are organic?

I guessed the MHA theme! I mean, I've never heard that particular theme, and have only watched a season of BHNA plus a few clips on youtube, but i have read a lot of fanfics. I also have the english version of peace sign more or less memorized. so I pretty much guessed because a) there was a sound resembling "Deku" in there b) it was upbeat and had a similar tone/style to peace sign and c) it was a high, younger male voice, which isn't actually that common in anime themes. so uh... thank you for your time :)
Great episode, loved seeing Orion on the show.
Um actually, Chrollo's fish does not consume the person but rather keeps them from dying
It does consume the person, but also yes, they can't die or even feel pain as long as the ability is active.
Um Actually Pom Poko (tanuki parachuting) is a Ghibli film!
Not me finishing s11 of supernatural and then watching this episode.
I knew the MHA one because that's one of my favorite MHA OPs
I love that they couldn't recognize the DN intro and it's the only one I recognized
Um Actually I got my Um Actually Boardgame so now I will be the new Mike Trapp. The old Mike Trapp will be put to rest.
Among other things she also carries a liquid that grows into a full lab in her femur.
this this episode is super old buuuuuuttttt
um actually Chrollo power is to "barrow" others powers and store them in his book, that he can use them at anytime. rendering the person who had it unable to use it.
Give us another one with the same shiny! Loved this one
Fun fact, this episode came out during Youmacon. A huge anime convention in Detroit.... Good timing
The tanuki testicle paratroopers are from Pom Poko and it is a ghibli film (just not Miyazaki)
Um Actually, that Hunter X Hunter statement is all wrong. Basho is just shitty at writing Hakus so what he creates is trash, and Chrollo's actually ability is to steal abilities with a book after four conditions are met.
Indeed
Um actually, in that first shiny question the other anime talked about is pompoko wich is a studio gibli film. Have a nice day (:
I was right there with her the evangelion one was obvious, like before I recognized the shapes through the pixels I saw the color pallet.
Also there are bears in Japan
The Anime episodes are my favorite
The name “Orion Black” is so awesome. 😌
The Ninja Ostrich being able to talk isn’t that impressive since there are a number of speaking animals in Naruto.
Isn't part of it that Motoko isn't even sure what her original body looked like? It's very transhumanist in the idea of identity
I turned away and when i came back everyone was talking about Supernatural, yet the Supernatural anime hadnt actually been mentioned at all???
Missing the Death Note theme song was unforgivable
I was SCREAMING, my sister loves the band that did that song, so I'm familiar via proximity.
It wasn't the Good one! What's up People by Maximum the Hormone is so much more recognizable. The World sounds like 90% of any generic shonen opening, like it would fit just fine in Naruto.
@@AlmostOtaku7 I also became a fan of Nightmare after starting to watch the show.
Oh my god when they didn't get death note and had so many other more obscure answers.....
um, actually always makes me feel smarter about nerdy topics lol
how did they miss death note
Bros, I watched Paprika literally yesterday and today is Friday, so obviously I am drunk. This is amazing from the first moment. 🥰
Um, actually there was a real adaptation of Supernatural into an anime! It was called (creatively) Supernatural: The Animation or スーパーナチュラル・ザ・アニメーション
Great guess there at 13:28.
"Presence in the Some-Kind-of-Container" is one of my favorite shows too.
Um actually, Supernatural does indeed have a full length Amine series. ... And its really, really good.
That's how Chilean Sea Bass became a thing and how southern eateries can make eels as catfish
I can’t believe he gave points to Eli on FMAB without him saying Um Actually. It’s the one rule!!!
um actually... dr stone wasnt brought back by bat droppings but nitric acid found in the guano cave
Getting to Um Actually the Code Geass question totally made my day 😁
Um, actually the entire planet was hit with the petrification beam, the area of the beam covered all of earth, yes senku did count to keep his mind active but others weren't driven mad their minds simply stopped functioning and turned fully to stone, senku with his active brain made it easier to become unpetrified by the nitric acid in the bat guano
I mean, not all of earth's population was petrified, since the group we see was outside of the earth's main atmosphere, since they were in ISSR
Galaxy Express 999 was the original concept of Kino's Journey lol. Both are philosophical adventures with action and comedy on the surface.
I knew the Evangelion one right away as well. Now I have the It all returns to nothing song stuck in my head.
"The Graveyard at the Bottom of Gravity" is such an amazing name, for anything.
Supernatural being described as live action anime has me deadddd🤣🤣
You should do more anime centered ones
There're enough crazy ones, it could definitely be done
@@ToHoldNothing They should do a whole spin-off series just about anime. I'd watch that.
@@B3RyL Would need a rehaul. Honestly haven't seen any new episodes, even from their backlog, recently
Um, actually it's not Chrollo's power that make the fish, that is the power of someone he stole the ability from, his power is to steal abilities.
But he CAN do it. So it's not technically wrong.
@@Kento300 I loooked at that but the begining of that was a description of their powers specifically. Super nit picky.
@@benjdelphi His nen ability might be to steal other peoples abilities, but using those abilities consist of his powers. And if Um Actually is anything it's very nitpicky.
@@Kento300 Then Um, actually, the fish are made of Nen and not bone. But I guess it doesn't say Nen Ability it does say powers.
I got every one of the songs right immediately. I'm not sure if I should be impressed or disappointed in myself.
Um Actually Chrollo's ability is stealing abilities and stores them in his grimoire, saying that the Fish Bones is his ability implies he is a Conjurer or Manipulator when in reality he is a specialist.
This is so precise in its "Umm Actually". Absolute perfection.
Um, actually Pom Poko IS a Ghibli movie!
So many good anime being referenced ~ Can't believe Tatami Galaxy was mentioned o: whenever I talk mention it, no one knows it
I wanna suggest a question/statement
"In syfy's the magicians there are multiple niffins the chronological order of when they became niffins are 1.The niffin that learned how to never be boxed (don't remember his name) 2.alices brother 3.Alice 4.quintin Coldwater"
This will be a hard one because of multiple reasons
1. Fans of the books and not of the show will not know about Quintin Coldwater being a niffin
2. The order of how the niffins are shown are as follows: Alice's brother, Alice, the guy who learned how to permanently stay a niffin and finally quintin Coldwater
3. There are time resets in the show and in timeline 40 Wich is the timeline we are following Quintin Coldwater never becomes a niffin
4. In timeline 23 however Quintin Coldwater was a niffin, and that timeline took place before timeline 40
The correct answer would be "um actually it is 1. Niffin who could never be boxed/ found a way to live forever 2.alices brother 3.quintin Coldwater 4.Alice"
I just really want an um actually question based on the magicians
Eddit: Alice's brothers name is Charlie, niffin that could never be boxed is frair Joseph
This is the only time I’ve ever gotten the blurred image. And somehow even faster then the contestants. Helps that I watched evangelion recently tho
Once again, Eli comes from a lineage of winners. Good game everyone.
Um, actually... In "Paprika", it's not for "viewing" someone else's dreams. It's more about immersing into them. Get it right, Mike!
Ok am I crazy? I was 100% certain that in the original ghost in the shell movie Kusanagi is fully cybernetic. There's a whole thing where she wonders whether or not she's real because her mind is uploaded. At what point is it established that her brain and spine are organic?
Finally one about Anime!
28:42 This is the worst day for all of anime. How could one not recognize such a classic as this?
