Let me explain everyone: you are in a bench and you are rocking back and forth like a swing. The walls spin around you. You don't go upside down but instead are swinging while the walls "move" I had to check if I was going upside down by realizing my hair was still on my shoulders and not in the air.
yes it is. i went yesterday cause I have a season pass. and its a little hard to find. its in CrackleAxe Canyon and then you need to walk far up right near the Tomahawk and the Houdini is in some like OperaHouse building. then you go in and wait in line (there isn't usually a line, I've never had to wait except for once but I waited about 2-3 mins) then the doors open and the ride starts :) Its amazing
The main part of the attraction consists of a drum and inside a porch swing which visitors sit. The inside of the drum is decorated as a room. The drum can rotate completely around its axis and the bank in the drum oscillate. It is located in a building so can not be seen from outside the rotating drum. Because the bank is in the drum seems like the bank rollover when the drum rotates around it. In reality, the bench swings out about 30 degrees, thereby the feeling of turning very enhanced.
The benches are stationary and the room is what spins around you. The floor itself "swings" (very slightly, more like tilts) to enhance the illusion. It is a concept that is actually quite old but just isn't around as much anymore. It was great of Six Flags (New England and Great Adventure) to bring it back like this.
It's all an illusion. The benches only swing about 15-20º either direction, whereas the walls spin around the riders a full 360º. Syncing the movements of the walls with the seats creates the illusion of the entire room being flipped.
Wow, today must be houdini day. Earlier today I edited a video I was originally going to post tomorrow but gonna save it until thur that has Houdini in its title. Then woot is selling some houdini lock product today and now your video haha.
Hello everyone if you don't know this type that's one of the very 1st illusion flat ride, that's is called a MadHouse made by Vekoma, the 1st made is going to be surprising, the 1st one is from Germany and this madhouse have different name the 1st one Ghost swing, then Rotating house and the true name MadHouse, the world 1st madhouse in Germany opens in 1894 that's old!
@birtchfall123 no its an optical illusion when you just go back and forth the room is actually spinning so ill hav 2 say it is yet it isnt a moving house but the ride is pretty fun i just whent on it a few days ago
You do not go upside down i went on this yesterday. You just move like the buccaneer (ride) and the walls continue to move to give you the illusion that you are flipping. Its amazing how it works. It feels though you are flipping. I rate this ride 11 out of 10! :)
@soccergirlz119 Not true. The walls assist in the illusion, but the floor/seating gallery is moving as well...upwards of 45 degrees from level in both directions. The walls do the rest of the work in extending the trickery on your brain - quite masterfully I might add. I've been on these at both SFNE and SFGA over a dozen times each, and once I begged to watch from the control room - and they let me. Hang something on your handrail and watch during the ride - its movements will surprise you
I went on this ride with my wife and kids. When it first started my stomach dropped just like the seating. I had to look to the side to ruin the illusion, this stop me from getting really dizzy. The wallpaper rotated and the benches dropped, all got white faced. Jeez!
I was on this today and there was a guy standing near the exit after it was over and he looked like he was ready to puke! Great ride and go on it every time I make it up to Great Adventure.
really . its just the walls movie your seat stay were it is but the walls rock creating the illusion that you are moving but your not .i been on it I LOVEIT
When I first went on this ride as a kid, the ride broke literally the people I was with got stuck and couldn't get out and it was so it weird because the illusion gave off the vibe that we're stuck upside down but everyone got out anyway. It was so freaky then.
LOL i went on that a few days ago, because i live like 25 minutes away from there. But anyway I was screaming because I thought I was ACTUALLY upsidedown! Then i saw the exit sign and I was like " aw damn, that was cool while it lasted"
Here's a video that shows how it works, the version in the video is Hex - The Legend Of The Towers at the Alton Towers resort in England, its the exact same type as this (a Vekoma Madhouse). /watch?v=rUXw_5SLoZ8
if your talking about the supposed "Upsidown part" you see the trick is the room itself, you see, the room is rotating around you, giving the illusoin that you are going upsidown. it tricked me my first time on this. :3
I just went on this yesterday and I thought we were actually movingg. We didn't move at all, it was the walls that were moving and it actually felt like we were moving.
i went on this for the first time today. the beginning made me feel kinda sick, then i really honestly thought we went upside down and i was like how the f are we doing this? it was really fun, i would deff do it again (:
omg in the new england on in MA, I felt really embarassed cuz I was screaming my head off and there were like 4 year olds and they looked at me like are you kidding me?
I went on this yesterday for a class trip and my friend was already sick to her stomach from Bat Man, and i told her "This don't go upside down it's inside!" Well i was wrong, and she started crying and felt like she was gonna throw up....opps!

They don't ruin anything and even adds a bit as they also rotate, just like the whole scenery. The illusion is just incredible.

I don't know why but I was beyond terrified on this ride
starrlitestarrbright same. The video is fucking scary
Went on this ride 3 days ago (Saturday) Scared the shit out of me... I was dizzy for an hour. But... I LOVE IT!!!
Haha, I remember dragging my friends with me on this. They were SO freaked out the whole time. Such a good ride! :D
@HeadDaniel I wanted to hear the intro to the preshow and everyone was talking xD
I went on this the first time just about a week ago and I was so disoriented..
Going again on Saturday with my friends, hope they trip balls too
They did.

Jetoye Andrews it was just in my history 😂
Regardless it makes me happy 😂
Yeah I was also disoriented myself but I had fun
OMFG! I've been trying to find the name of this ride because I loved it. Thanks!

Wow! I work in Italy in the "Magic House" (Gardaland Park)...It's a sister ride! =) And...I love mad houses!!! Yeah :P
This ride literally just takes your mind... and messes around with it. God.
love this ride!

The first time I've been on that was 4 or 3 years ago I was 7
The first time I went on it I was so little and i cried haha I went back on 2 years later realizing how cheesy it was
felt like I sold my self to the devil on this ride
i literally just went on it yesterday and im still trying to figure out how that happened
it not going upside down, its just pushing you back and fourth
I loooovvvveeee this ride! I'm always the youngest on the ride and all of the teenagers try to scare us. :(
But this ride is theee BESTTTTTTTT
I missed this ride I was about 15 when i rode it :)
After the ride was over the bar that was holding us in didn't come up. I was so scared. Everyone left and my friends and I had to climb out.
Is this at Six Flags New England?? Please say yes. Lol
Wow, today must be houdini day. Earlier today I edited a video I was originally going to post tomorrow but gonna save it until thur that has Houdini in its title. Then woot is selling some houdini lock product today and now your video haha.
I went on this ride a few years ago. It was awesome haha.
I still enjoy it though :) Favorite ride there!!! I live in Maine so the one in Mass is closest to me

I've been on that ride and it is so fun!
I just went on this today. It's a great optical illusion. I wonder how it works....
holy shit i didn't even remember writing this comment. thanks, but i had already done some research after posting it and figured it out. xD
@birtchfall123 no its an optical illusion when you just go back and forth the room is actually spinning so ill hav 2 say it is yet it isnt a moving house but the ride is pretty fun i just whent on it a few days ago

Oh wow, did they update recently?
I went to the same place in New Jersey around 2006/2007, and I don't remember the whole key thing.
The room spins around you, your just tilting back and forth
You like 50% of upside down the room does the rest
I went on this today and was mind blown, couldn't figure out if we were actually upside down or not lmao
I rode this ride today and after I got off I was so confused and had to ask my mom if we actually went upside down.
your not the walls are moving
What happens in the ride part of it cuz when I went it was broken
what happens on the ride part? i cant see it becuz its too dark
i went on this ride a couple of day ago i got such a big headache on it
@rollercoastersrock haha you said one direction ./. sorry I'm so stupid haha
I went on this ride with my wife and kids. When it first started my stomach dropped just like the seating. I had to look to the side to ruin the illusion, this stop me from getting really dizzy. The wallpaper rotated and the benches dropped, all got white faced. Jeez!
best ride hands down :D
i loved this when i first got on it...but seriously im dying to know how this ride works
You rock back and forth in the benches but you only rock 50% of actually going upside the then wall say "you know what I wanna spin"
i was so freaked out when i first walked in and this guy got out cuz he was scared but its really good
when i went on that ride it was the most asome ride i ever went on
The ride does move. It rocks back and forth. The walls move more though. That's what gives you the illusion.
I was on this today and there was a guy standing near the exit after it was over and he looked like he was ready to puke! Great ride and go on it every time I make it up to Great Adventure.
really . its just the walls movie your seat stay were it is but the walls rock creating the illusion that you are moving but your not .i been on it I LOVEIT
i just went here today it was pretty fun
It’s the same technology as the Hex ride in Alton Towers. Your platform spins and the room also spins around you, leaving you disoriented.
BEST RIDE EVA
When I first went on this ride as a kid, the ride broke literally the people I was with got stuck and couldn't get out and it was so it weird because the illusion gave off the vibe that we're stuck upside down but everyone got out anyway. It was so freaky then.
Yvng_yoshi 21 no it does not, it is an optical illusion. also there is no need to call them names.
LOL i went on that a few days ago, because i live like 25 minutes away from there. But anyway I was screaming because I thought I was ACTUALLY upsidedown! Then i saw the exit sign and I was like " aw damn, that was cool while it lasted"
I went on it on 2 days ago
when my friend and I went on this we didn’t know it would go crazy like that and started shrieking
Here's a video that shows how it works, the version in the video is Hex - The Legend Of The Towers at the Alton Towers resort in England, its the exact same type as this (a Vekoma Madhouse).
/watch?v=rUXw_5SLoZ8

@underworldluver aww that sucks but ur not going upside down if u were then u wuld hav an over bar
if your talking about the supposed "Upsidown part" you see the trick is the room itself, you see, the room is rotating around you, giving the illusoin that you are going upsidown. it tricked me my first time on this. :3
This looks like a disneyland ride! Cmon! Six flags! U can actually beat disneyland!
I just went on this yesterday and I thought we were actually movingg. We didn't move at all, it was the walls that were moving and it actually felt like we were moving.
You do rock like 40 or 50% of being upside down
nice
i went on this for the first time today. the beginning made me feel kinda sick, then i really honestly thought we went upside down and i was like how the f are we doing this? it was really fun, i would deff do it again (:
No it's in NJ soxflags great adventure
My six flags Houdini ride actually moves side to side but the flipping is an illusion, plus the people are farther down from u and I have to hold on
I had a major shutdown on this, so my friends made me go on it again. Lol.
you have to ride it to really experience it trust me
i went on this yesterday i like it

BOTH the Seats and the Room Move. You do NOT actually go upside down. The Room Does
My little bro thought we will go up side down
