I love it!!😂 first noise i hear as soon as u started fishing that guy puking! My cousin and I bett and who we think will puke on the charter boat first!😂😂🎣 tight lines
My advice for any newbies heading out that aren't sure if you're going to get seasick or not: DON'T sit down during the boat trip out. The rocking motion of the boat causes your senses to send mixed signals to the brain causing confusion and queasiness. If you stand, your whole body will simply just sway with the waves and prevent this mix-up in signals.
Looks like the ideal day of fishing, nice-sized, delicious fish. How did the other fishermen fair? Most importantly, how were they cooked and how did they taste?
nice. went out of monterey the other week, first time and sadly most the day i was like the guy on your left. haha. but i did manage the 2 biggest lings
Lol, my buddy only lasted about 20 minutes this trip vs last trip he didn't even get one cast in. He went to lay down for the rest of the trip due to motion sickness. Nice work on the lings bro.
Nice video bro! Thank you for sharing! By the way, what gear were you using? Like the reel and the pole and the fishing line. And what do you think of the setup? Thanks.
I was mainly using my Okuma Citrix paired with a Shimano Cardiff 400 and spooled with 20lb Pline CXX. It's a good setup for the price and it can take a beating.
dthao92 thanks for the reply bro! But i checked the specs of the reel, it's a nice reel, and very light! But I prefer reels with fast retrieval because I usually fish 200 feet deep on a boat. I have a one reel with a retrieval of 29'' per crank and I plan to upgrade to a new one with at least 42'' retrieval per crank.
Irod has a lot of good options. They have something for everything you want. And they also have a saltwater line out called the Kaimana. Check that one out if you're going to be using it for salt. bigger guides for heavier lines and big connection knots.
+Seth Meyer thanks for the reply. i ended up picking a dobyns 867. it handled wonderfully. also thanks for the info on the new irod kaimana. just gotta find out where they sell them
+Joel Jimenez oh nice. Depending on where you live, I know a few places that sell the kaimanas if you want to message me, I can tell you what's around or you can go on their website and look up dealers. I'm not sure if all the dealers have the salt series but that will give you an idea.
Hey Dthao have you ever thought about investing more into mics and camera for better footages. I feel like you can actually go far with this channel but just my opinion. Nice footage btw
y do u go on party boats? they take u to the worst spots plus, there are too many people save up money and get a small boat you will get ur limit in like an hour or 30min
One of the best fishing videos ever. No BS, just fishing done well. And I thank you for blasting rap crap music.
I love it!!😂 first noise i hear as soon as u started fishing that guy puking! My cousin and I bett and who we think will puke on the charter boat first!😂😂🎣 tight lines
I shore fish for rock fish and bass off the Dana point harbor jetty, it is sometimes closed, but when it's open, they love to bite

Sucks that it got away.
Nice video, liked
What jig setup are you using? 20 pound line on a cardiff. But what was the jig? And how deep were you fishing?
nice. went out of monterey the other week, first time and sadly most the day i was like the guy on your left. haha. but i did manage the 2 biggest lings

dthao92 haha I see. So Im guessing I should be better next time. Maybe towards the end of summer. Supposed to be better fishing by then.
Title should reflect "Fishing for ROCK, rockfish and lingcod"
Lmao! too funny
that deck hand needs a redbull!. good video though
Nice video bro! Thank you for sharing! By the way, what gear were you using? Like the reel and the pole and the fishing line. And what do you think of the setup? Thanks.

What’s the lure you’re using for the lingcod and the boat you went on?
I didn't know you can use lures on those charter boats, i thought it was strictly bait fishing. What charter was that
Yeah, you can use lures, lures will get you bigger fishes. This was out of Avila.
What were u using for the lings jigs? Bait? Sambiki rig possibly
We were using everything, but they came mostly on Irons and Magnum Flukes.
how deep where you fishing
How deep were you guys fishing? When I was up there I was on the Fiesta and 90-150' was the norm.
Yep, sounds about the same, i think we were at around 100-130
Love the shallow water rockfishing up there.
People pukin and everything!! ahh the good old Uki Puker boats!!
what kind of reel is that
Hahaha I was waiting for that big one hahaha
how did the citrix work for you. looking to buy a heavier swimbait rod to go out. currently have a phenix but only rated 1-3oz. was looking at an irod
Irod has a lot of good options. They have something for everything you want. And they also have a saltwater line out called the Kaimana. Check that one out if you're going to be using it for salt. bigger guides for heavier lines and big connection knots.

+Seth Meyer. thanks bro. do you know of any online retailers? irods website list only two and they dont carry any
The Citrix gets the job done, kind of heavy, i prefer my Dobyn's 806 for the salts though.
What kind of rod and reel are you using?
Hey what do you prefer braid or mono for lings? Please get back to me
singha4now I prefer mono...if u get snagged with braid it's too hard to break off...if it doesn't break you'll have to cut off a ton of line.
how much for the boat trip?
Hey Dthao have you ever thought about investing more into mics and camera for better footages. I feel like you can actually go far with this channel but just my opinion. Nice footage btw
Thanks bro, I have not thought about investing in mics and camera's. Maybe in the near future as i will be commentating more in my videos.
+dthao92 you should man best luck to you bro.
Thanks brother
Oh and btw when I have a heavy line I just put my rod on the rail and wind it works for me but only if you have a good feel and rod with spectra
LOL, @ 7:09 dude to the left of you throwing up. Couldn't handle the sea
He was a warrior. He continued to fish till the trip was over...lol.
+dthao92 is that a shimano Cardiff you using? what was you rod setup with what size line? I've been want to take a charter for some time now
Yeah, i was using a Cardiff 300 paired with my Dobyn's 806 and a Cardiff 400 paired with an Okuma Citrix. Spooled with 20lb Pline CXX.
Get on one, It's an awesome experience.
He was chumming the water
what charter/location did you go with?
It was out of Avila. I dont know much of the details because my friend just books it for us.
Sounds good thanks
Looks like Patriot Sportfishing out of San Luis Obispo
Wait is that Catalina??? I don't recognize that pier
This is out of Avila
You literally caught a rock fish. LOL.
Hey bro ! What's ur rod and reel ?

Nice lings breh
Thanks bro
Where is that out of?

This was out of Avila
Slowest deckhand ever. And was he the only deckhand on the boat? Nobody was around when fish was caught.

This one is Avila.
Is that guy in the background barfing
He's chumming...lol
y do u go on party boats? they take u to the worst spots plus, there are too many people save up money and get a small boat you will get ur limit in like an hour or 30min
I dont do the salts much and it's my first time this year. Just trying it out with some friends.
how you liking that reel for lings? does it hold up?
Gets the job done at a good price range.
why are you guys just tossing that rockfish back like that they're going to die that's the reason why our Fisheries are crap
hehe Puke boat fishin.. lol
I'm going tomorrow for the first time
Lmao literally caught a rock fish
When your rock fishing don’t pump your rod up and down. Just keep on winding
Unless you got a lingcod then yeah u gotta pump
Thumb on spool bad
