This video for #3 went until after midnight and I was tired and "overly stimulated," shall we say. It got to me. I should have deleted that last part, but left it in.

Hello and thanks for the kind comments. I have been consumed by the fact that I have bought this collection because a friend wanted to see it off to people he trusted before he passes. By buying the whole thing, I save him time and effort and his wife hassle in the time coming too soon. Knowing his story is like my grandfather... you see a part of their life in miniature passing in your hands. It just makes me value it and want to preserve it even more.

The rest are either DC (as opposed to AC) or are not digital and need to be converted. I have already received 26 locos, and 25 run. Only one is dead at the moment. I have been cleaning and testing them on my DC loops and my test track for 3-Rail.

It hard when you know its bitter having someones Life time collection, but if anyone is going to appreciate and look after Herb's collection, its you , Herb has picked the right person, he know your passion about German and euro trains and you share with others your passion and herb knows that you will have great pleasure in the collection and enjoyment from running his collection , wow i have run out of words . Maybe it's hitting me even harder than it should, but I have already seen too many collections (not of trains) of friends get split, sold off or boxed off to charities and Goodwill or dumpsters, because I could not intervene or it was not my thing. I knew how much those things meant to my friends and it was said to see those passions go, as it was sad to see them go. This time, I had to act, in a way. I obviously can't do this everywhere for everyone, but I have done it once and I am glad to keep it together.
Indeed. It was a long day and the entire week has been an emotional roller coaster. I guess I should have filmed myself yesterday, it might have been funny. I have been working with the locos (I have received 26 so far), and seeing which ones are fit for duty. I had 2 running on my layout for Arty's stream, I added 3 more yesterday. the DC locos I tested on the "OO" (DC) Loops. A couple of them needed some encouragement, and one I finally got going as I was doing the Dr. Frankenstein bit from the original 1932 movie... "Live!!! Live!!! It's ALIVE!!! IT'S ALIVE!!!" My family had to come downstairs and see what was I on about.

Hi, Tim! At the time, box 3 was the one that really blew my mind at the variety and the import of its contents. Boxes 4-6 will also impress a few people. We do have a lot more beer wagons to come. I have received 26 locos so far, and I have 25 working. 5 are AC digital and now run on my layout. That is not counting the power cars for the ICEs, which I have not gotten to yet. I still have two more boxes to come. I have been tempted to buy a v200 in this livery, and now I have it via this collection. I just have to buy a decoder and install it, as I did with my class 111's. It has been overwhelming, but running some of these locos on both the main layout and the DC loops has been a happy experience! Cheers to you and yours! See you soon, literally!

Box 3 I remember being quite pleased with, but also boxes 4 and 6 stick out in my mind as even more exciting than others. It has only been a couple of days, but it feels like a month, because so much has happened since last Thursday. I have already received 26 locos (and 3 power cars) and 25 of the 26 locos are operational, either upon arrival, or with a little TLC from me. 2 more boxes to come!

Lots of these are still in use for the Sylt Shuttle 10:07 Very early Brawa Kof, not exactly known for their reliability. Can also be used as a realistic car load on a stake wagon 11:05 E412 'Brennerlok' multi system locomotive with 8000 hp. Would be a candidate locomotive for the Rollende Landstrasse train 12:31 Old chassis tanker (re-released by Hornby with close couplers) 14:04 VSOE bar car, this one is actually era 5. This is a rebuilt 1920's CIWL car with modernized underfloor equipment and high speed bogies for rail cruise trains 15:19 Timeframe 'just past reunification', Ex DR dining car in the old colors. Looks like the Roco version (45716) 15:57 Gruppe 36 F-Zug car in very early DB scheme. These were used on the 1950's Rheingold (and other long distance trains) before the famous dome car sets were introduced. 17:45 That type of cars is mostly for internal use, like the night train from the mainland to Palermo... ACME often sells these as multi part sets that can be combined to a complete train, so there might be more

I think the pantograph is an add-on, and potentially Märklin. -The LIMA CIWLs both had the same inserted corridor/cabin inserts, he must have bought a set and added them. They are clearly very basic, along with some other cars to come in another box. -So, the EU43-007 is just a BR412? I read some of these were designed by Bombardier for the PKP but sold to Italy. This scheme is a rare one, it took me a while to find the proper Roco model number (58557). The colors are the Italian flag and match the green of the ACME Treine Notte (Night Train) set I received. It is running on my layout, though one of the cars has a bad bogey which I will need to replace. - The F-Zug is interesting. I knew it was close to post-war, but not sure if it was West or East, as GDR maintained the name "Bundesbahn," while the West became DB. I just know nothing of the GDR trains, other than they tended to be green from my limited view. I have so many coaches from so many boxes, it is hard for me to tell which cars went with which or with anything at all.

The Mitropa coach is actually a Schicht moselle (piko puppet company) coach also sold as Prefo.

Of interesting note is that, though some it it went to Piko, the moulds now belong to Tillig and Samo (Sachsenmodelle).
