The hunt is real! I spend hours and hours each week, combing through thrift stores, estate sales, auctions & flea markets ... to bring home the goods and prepare them for selling in my Ebay store, which fully supports me!

Hello Karen. My Goodwill prices are extremely high. $6.99 for a used Tee Shirt from Walmart that was bought new for $3.99. Insane!
I go to other Thrift Stores in my community that help others in need.
I pay $1 or $2 for men & womens pants & shirts, sometime new with tags. They also sell hard goods for reasonable prices. I also shop at Consignment shops when they have their 50% off sales. I find name brand items for under $5 to $8. Also new with tags. Great Deals!
Goodwill for me is not a good place to shop in my area, mostly all junk items.

I don't shop goodwill. Prices off the charts. I go to resale stores only.
I wonder if it has to do with location? Mine has same prices for certain types of items. For example most home decor is $4.49 and most furniture is $8.79 I'm in Northern California.
Our GW has lost their mind w prices although sometimes they are deals because they don’t know what things are.

I believe the brass “ loud bell” is a cow bell. Brass scissors for grapes they were a gifting trend in the 80’s.
That is your basic cowbell as worn by an actual cow. They don't bring much but people do buy them for farmhouse decor and some people collect bells. Some antique bells can be valuable.
Those 2 jars with pearls and ice pieces would make lovely fillings for your clear Christmas trees.
I always buy stoppers in good condition if the price is low. Sometimes you find a decanter missing its stopper.

I am starting to get away from Goodwill because of all the price increases! I am fortunate to live in an area with a lot of non-profit stores and they have great prices. Goodwill is getting ridiculous! Question for you about the clothes you sell. Do you wash and iron the clothes before photographing and mailing to customers? I’d love to know your process for clothing!! Thanks for all the helpful videos!!
IMO The best thrift stores are in UT; the Deseret Industries.

It;s NOT just the prices: Goodwill FILTERS. There are signs posted in the back room "DO NOT PUT OUT OLD TOYS , COMIC BOOKS, DOLLS , Designer labels like DIOR, CHANEL, Tiffany , etc. " . My joke here is in Bizarro World Goodwill the signs read "DO NOT PUT OUT COFFEE MUGS that SAY ' You're 50 - don't think of it as 50 Years - think of it as 5 Decades!". And don;t put out those ugly LOLITA wine glasses, broken figurines from T.J. Maxx , jars of half used lotions and cremes, clear glass dishes, Christmas guest towels with stains, ashtrays, coasters , broken Pyrex or wooden bowls.
When it gets cold and rainy I want to make a big bowl of chili, and a glass of milk or hot chocolate after and curl up on the couch in a thick blanket with a big sweater and large wool socks LOL!

I like the elephant lamps enough to touch up the missing color; good profit, but too heavy to ship? Nothing wrong with your inventory system as long as you are able to find everything, which you do quite well!
If those lamps were nicely colored - they would be OK. I hate that "T.J. Maxx fake antique Made in China" gold color- it's so muddy.
People who decorate in the farmhouse white might have liked the white birds.

That leather box is a playing card holder. I have one in my house purchased at a 2nd hand store with playing cards that have Dogs Playing Poker on them. Just thought I'd share that. Thank you for your videos, they are so full of great information.
I have just started to use my custom label option. It has saved me so much stress from looking for items. I now walk straight to the bin, drawer, etc. A time saver.

The piece of pottery at about 20:50 is from Colonial Williamsburg and is drip glaze pottery. I picked up a piece at an estate sale recently, and it has the same marking on the bottom. I haven't sold mind yet though! Hopefully I will...

Karen just a little advice, Elephants with the trunk up bring good fortune you never want to get any type of elephant with the trunk down. Would’ve loved to purchase those lamps for my entryway💛

now higher on vintage items-than my flea market booths! This is insane, and
they take the good vintage and post it online! Here, it is much better going
to garage sales, and last day estate sales! Glad your are finding treasures

I believe the large cobalt vase with sunflowers was Majolica and did have some age.
Maybe not majolica...but def vintage.
No, I dont think so. I have a ton of antique majolica and that piece was definitely not majolica. The colors and pattern are the wrong style and the glazing is also wrong.

I am a first time ever shopper on the Goodwill website, and I had NO IDEA they were AUCTIONING!!! You have to BET on items; almost nothing is just for sale. I fell for it, and placed a bid on several things that no one else had bid on, and within hours, others were placing bids against me under secret names and secret bids!!! I had no idea that it was that kind of business on their website. DO NOT GET ENTANGLED- I suspect people are driving up bids on purpose, if you know what I mean.
I don’t mean to insult but a lot of us follow you to learn. My expectations are- you are successful by knowing what to grab.

Hi Karen, New subbie here however I have been watching your videos for quite some time. You choose the most lovely pieces. I see you pass up the items that will not bring as much re-sale value. Also, your shipping room is excellent. So neat and organized. May I ask if you launder and iron your clothing? Karen do you have an assistant to help you?
I steam, wash ( a few things I hand wash 😂) dry clean but mostly with Dryelle
My daughter Lisa photos Approx 5 hrs one day a week but no assistant, it’s just me 😁

Can't tell you how much I love the fact that resellers don't like the clear isle. Lets keep it that way sellers out there. I have found so many beautiful French Lilque, Freres, & sometimes even Galle glass pieces over the years. They have sold for such high prices. I don't sell a lot of things these days because I have told myself I am retired, but when I find French glass I will drag myself to the computer and list. Such an easy money maker.
Karen you gave sellers very good advice on pre determining size and shipping cost in your listings. People need to know shipping is not cheap anymore and re-sellers are not making money on the shipping quote.
Question about Lalique…is it usually marked? Any tips for picking it out when looking at the clear glass aisle? I love crystal and would love to learn more!!
I’ve found Waterford crystal twice for just a few dollars at Goodwill recently. I’m not a reseller, but kept for myself.
@@meeshell91365 What got me started was when an antique dealer was selling off inventory to retire. I didn't think I could afford anything there but wanted to at least look. He was also selling his reference books (in those days no internet to look things up). I couldn't afford much, but I did buy a number of his reference books and that is where I started to learn a little about French Crystal. So I would say the would be the best place to start. Look for a reference book to date and recognize nice crystal from just the glass things in the clear isle.
@@MeHere650 Exactly. Waterford is a pretty common household crystal of good quality. It is not that hard to find and stands the test of time. Good find! Enjoy.
@@meeshell91365 I forgot to reply to your question. Modern Lilique has a registration or signature on it. This started in the mid to late 1970's. The vintage pieces did not have this mark. The best finds are the pre-war pieces by Emile Lilique.

If you ever do a road-trip, head out to Atlanta Ga to LC Thrift Store. It has to be one of the largest thrifts I’ve ever been to. Prices are way better than Goodwill and if you like mid century modern you can’t go wrong. But the place is filled with 30’s 40’s 50’s and of course newer items as well

If u ship breakable items or heavier items…ship via ups…they’re half the price to ship and they treat packages much nicer…usps had cost me over $300 in lost shipping because the items arrived completely smashed like someone had a bad day and took it out on my packages…I did a price comparison on a set of dishes and usps wanted $75 to ship and ups was only $17..huge difference and when it arrived…it had no damage …usps wouldn’t even consider the fragile note on the package
I do use UPS quite often but unfortunately they don’t pick up at the house for free 😞 and the time it takes for special trips is not doable in my schedule

I tried label A-Z didn't work for me so I redid my 12 bins your way. Now I find items so much faster.
That is a cow bell. Some people use them at sporting events to make noise.

I wish people who donated their unsold items from their antique booth or business would take the price tags off prior to donating them. Goodwill will see an expensive price tag & think they need to also price it high. (Like the $50 cherub brass trivet). Just a little pet peeve of mine. I found a Raggedy Ann hobbyist planter at Goodwill a few weeks ago & they had it priced at $24.99. After trying to figure out why it was priced so high, I peeled the sticker back & found a sticker from a antique store that said $34.99. The planter looked like a young school aged child painted it. Anyway, thank you for sharing so much with us. I appreciate your ability to think about your profit margins. I watch certain resellers who buy items for $5.99, only to sell them for $12-$15. That doesn't seem very cost or time effective to me. xo

I totally agree. I recently went to a Salvation Army thrift store and the prices were just outrageous and the stuff they have there these stuff has been there for the longest while. They had 50% green tag, I had to search hard and long to find a green tag never did, but I guess that's what it is. Everybody raising their prices these days.

Karen, you just gave me a gift idea...I see those Godiva Chocolate mugs fairly often and they always look pretty but I never pick them up to resell as I fell value not there BUT I was just thinking,...how cute a gift it would be to get those mugs then put real Godiva chocolate and or hot chocolate pack in them wrap in clear or colored cellophane put a bow on it for a gift? Yum. Next time I see them if they are cute enough and inexpensive enough I'll pick up for that. Ok back to watching! I agree those birds would have made good salt pepper shakers.
