Another awesome job!! I came from you're cover on September by Earth, Wind & Fire. Had to see some more of your amazing and groovy covers :) The way you get that bass going... I think that's a big part of why your stuff is so funky :)
Awesome!! This, I think personally, is one of the best songs of the last 20 years (certainly the most underrated!!). It's so nice to hear a piano cover, perfect accompany for a singer. thanks
I don't have a whole lot to say about 1990s music probably because I'm 65 years old, but Gregg's songs have that Todd Rundgren spirit to them, don't they? Todd's 1970s and 80s harmony stuff is breathtaking.
paulwwells hi Paul I have zero musical ability but thoroughly enjoy your vids this is a cracking cover. I was wondering if you would mind if I used a cassette of some of your covers to demonstrate my repairs of 70s tape decks and amps? I would obviously put full link to your channel in the videos and obviously credit your work to you in my narration . If you could let me know whether you would be happy for me to do this that would be great. Many thanks Dan
paulwwells thanks Paul that's really kind of you all the best to you look forward to seeing more covers 😊 have you thought of doing the.murder she wrote theme?

I've watched quite a few of your arrangements and I have to say that your base lines complement beautifully what's going on in the right hand! This and the driving rhythm makes these works so wonderful to me. I can't overstate the joy your playing brings (but I am prone to a bit of nostalgia).
Love the song and love your playing of it - it covers all the brightness of the original, but makes it sound new. Can't decide which is best, yours of the original - a photo finish!
No probs. Got a 24 track studio, and have been keen to do a version myself - I play, gtrs, bass, keys etc, and have a good singer friend with a good vocal range. Back to your take, it's only when I whacked my nice headphones on that I appreciated that you were playing a bass (gtr) tone on the left hand - it adds neatly to your arrangement. I hadn't quite heard that listing through my cheap computer speakers. Cheers, David.
It is a mystery to me why anyone who has a keyboard which can mix in a bass below a split point would not do so. It's a bigger issue than just 'it sounds good'. It fundamentally changes the way you use your left hand and forces you to listen to bass lines more intently - and hence you build a deeper appreciation of bass lines.
Thanks for sharing those amazing covers, and your tutorials, you split the keyboard with the bass with your left hand, that's giving a new whole and refreshing approach to the songs. The right hand carries the harmony and the melody, that is the most difficult part.
Thank you. I get a lot more pleasure out of playing with a rich, deep base in the left hand. For years I bashed out octaves in the left hand on strung (real) pianos.
paulwwells Hi Paul, Your playing deserves a lot more credit than I could ever give. You are the one who is greatly appreciated. Splitting the keyboard to get that full Fender Precision sound on the bottom end makes the 700SX come alive with the beautiful bass lines you input. I've never heard anyone play piano with such a fabulous sounding bass in the left hand. However many years you practiced to achieve that level was worth every second. The results speak for themselves. Superb stuff. Thanks so much for sharing it. Regards, MC.
Nice to see those magic fingers back again Paul, one of my favourites too, i've wanted to play this but can't get a decent backing for it, but you don't need any backing, well done !!!! :)
Fantastic rendition Paul, you take quite a rocky song and turn it into a mellow sounding solo piano piece which works brilliantly! A tutorial would be great please. Cameron
echo everyone else ,glad to see you back on you tube ,always enjoy your clips ,even though I am incredibly jelous of your playing especially the bass lines.
Fantastic cover! Thank you! Have always loved this song. Is there a tutorial out there? If not, I bet there are a lot of people that would love it if there was one 😊
Marvellous. I love the bass - it gives a richness and depth, and provides an interest. You should insure your left hand. (Your right hand is no slouch either.) Please add my vote for a tutorial.
Thank you - but I was hoping to find your version on your channel. Don't use my version as a benchmark, I'm just having fun learning and recording these songs and if your version gives you pleasure then please keep playing it.
Another awesome job!! I came from you're cover on September by Earth, Wind & Fire. Had to see some more of your amazing and groovy covers :) The way you get that bass going... I think that's a big part of why your stuff is so funky :)
I'm fascinated by their left hand! The thumb kicks for the octave bass is a great touch that you don't often find in a trained pianist.
Thank you David. I think that most pianists would develop something similar after mixing in bass guitar to the sound they use regularly.
Those bass lines man, totally give a fantastic and rich sound
Awesome!! This, I think personally, is one of the best songs of the last 20 years (certainly the most underrated!!). It's so nice to hear a piano cover, perfect accompany for a singer. thanks
WRONG... It IS the best song. And now it’s probably 25 years...
I don't have a whole lot to say about 1990s music probably because I'm 65 years old, but Gregg's songs have that Todd Rundgren spirit to them, don't they? Todd's 1970s and 80s harmony stuff is breathtaking.
I remember when this song was first released and it certainly was different to everything else around at the time.
Wow ! Fantastic, as a bassist I really appreciated this. The piano is the truly the master instrument.
Hi. Thank you. Piano certainly is the best instrument for creating a full sound just by yourself. I have always liked the mix of bass and piano.
@@paulwwells precisely ! And your cadence/ swing style you played was heavenly.
Thank you. It's a great song which was crying out to be covered.

Extraordinary that you can cover a whole band with this one electronic keyboard. Any so well done! Bravo.
Thank you for your comment Brian. A song with a strong melody, a strong riff and a strong bass line helps.
I've watched quite a few of your arrangements and I have to say that your base lines complement beautifully what's going on in the right hand! This and the driving rhythm makes these works so wonderful to me. I can't overstate the joy your playing brings (but I am prone to a bit of nostalgia).
Thank you. Your encouraging words mean a lot to me. I wish I had time to make more videos again.
Simply amazing. No other word can describe it.
The bass line you play was amazing
For me, throughout the whole song the piano is the dynamic force. Thanks Paul, great tutorial.
You are very welcome. Yes, you are right, this song is a rare gift to piano players because it is the force driving the original version.
Wow!!!! What awesome talent!!! Grt job!!! Love this song..it makes me want to dance, and dance my blues away!!!!
Absolutely brilliant cover! Great work
Thank you for bringing back my youth that was totally awesome
you definitely have the music in you ! great stuff
Absolutely outstanding. A marvelous rendition!
Love the song and love your playing of it - it covers all the brightness of the original, but makes it sound new. Can't decide which is best, yours of the original - a photo finish!
Thank you for your comment. This is exactly why I make these videos - to shed new light on familiar songs.

It looks so easy but it is certenly not wow what a performance a joy for my ears!!
How pretty is that ? A real song !! Always liked it, love all those major, minor 7th slash chords!!!
Holy crap.. This is so good..
Great job shows how fantastic the melody of this song is.......Thanks!
Thank you. Undoubtedly a simple, natural but powerful melody.
Brilliant, loved watching this! Like your little rant too!!!!
Very instructional. Loved how your right pinky worked the A and the D throughout the song, while your lower digits did the work. I enjoyed.
Thank you for commenting Michael. Yes, it's a bit of a stretch at times but satisfying when it works.
@@paulwwells Don't you love it when a plan comes together? You got good chops. Keep posting.
This is a lovely rendition. My favorite from New Radicals.
Excelente version!!!
Nice job…real good…loved the left hand bass…

Wow, loved your arrangement of this!
Thank you. This is a song with plenty of features to choose from to include in a piano arrangement.
Super, great to see you back.
Would love to hear your interpretation of 'It's My Life' by Talk Talk, that's if you do requests...
Bob Babbitt or Chuck Rainey would be proud to hear this lovely bassline along with your great piano sounds. Superb sound Paul.
Hi Musi clive - thanks for all your kind comments. Much appreciated :)

I concure.

Sos un genio!! Recién lo escucho, saludos desde Argentina!! Abrazo!!!

Hi Paul, great to see you back in action, haven't seen you for ages!
Great Cover, Great BASS!

Love it! Great expressive playing! You flap your left had on the keys like you are playing an actual bass.
This is amazing.... Makes me want to go buy a grand piano...if only I could play :P
Bravo!! amazing job!! thanks for creating.
Nice to see those magic fingers back again Paul, one of my favourites too, i've wanted to play this but can't get a decent backing for it, but you don't need any backing, well done !!!! :)
Perfect and brilliant as usual. Enjoyed it 'til the last second :-)
F-ing awesome!! Honestly!! Great tune.
Fantastic rendition Paul, you take quite a rocky song and turn it into a mellow sounding solo piano piece which works brilliantly! A tutorial would be great please. Cameron
Thank you. You're right, it does become a different song when played just on keyboards, but I am glad you like the results.
echo everyone else ,glad to see you back on you tube ,always enjoy your clips ,even though I am incredibly jelous of your playing especially the bass lines.
We need a tutorial for that !. You will become my new piano hero!

Thanks for the prompt Geoff. I'll try to get a tutorial together because quite a few people have been asking for this one.
remarkable. love this
THIS IS SO GOOD!
Thank you Cloudie. A unique song such as this cries out to be covered. I'm glad you like my humble rendition.
beautiful
Beyond great
Fantastic.
Excellent, best impossible!!!
way better than my version. great work
Thank you - but I was hoping to find your version on your channel. Don't use my version as a benchmark, I'm just having fun learning and recording these songs and if your version gives you pleasure then please keep playing it.
Holy shit! This was awesome!
You rule the funky bass left hand .
Thank you :) but I have to credit the song for having the bounce there in the first place to give my left hand a prominent role.
Love it!!
Beautifull!!!!
I haven't found any tutorials of this song on youtube so could you please make a tutorial? :)
The way your keyboard is sounds, I think you should cover the Doogie Howser theme song.
Amazing!
Thank you Casey.
Awesome!!! 10/10
Excellent playing. Some of those stretches look almost impossible.
Love this song and love this cover!! Although I’m very late to the party
Thank you Ruth. This song will certainly age very well. I'm glad you like my version.
Amazing
Love this. Have you considered reuploading with only piano?
Thanks for posting this! I agree that this song was begging to be covered. Anxious to try to break down phrase by phrase
You're welcome. It's use of extended chords is rare enough that you don't have to work hard to get it to sound distinctive.
nice paul, I play piano too and I love this song on this piano..... can you make a totorial to this song You Get What You Give... this will be nice
I enjoy this
DANG! Awesome!!
This is great! One of favorite covers on TH-cam. Are you using any pedal when playing?
