You got me convinced to buy a Harley Benton SC 550, so I just HAD to look at the cheapest electric guitar. Didn’t like the look of the exotic wood so went for the }natural” version. Guitar arrived within a week from ordering, and per your unboxing video was playable out of the box. Really easy way to scratch that Telecaster itch for this Les Paul fan, and would highly recommend Bax and Fazely for anyone looking for a value for money gift for a wannabe guitarist. Keep up the good work John!
Just bought the Hotrod model for £70 delivered off eBay !!!!! So excited as I'm a massive Jerry Cantrell fan and I believe it really captures his sound 👍
No real problems and sounds that good is amazing. For Fazley to make any money off this Tele, they must hide trained mice inside the guitar which come out at night to help the burglers in.
I figured out where I've seen that "finish" before! an old school near me is being demolished, and the barrier around the building site is "that wood" lol. No disrespect to the guitar though - I'm astonished what you can buy these days compared to when I started. That Fazley would kick seven bells out of my Kay tulip!
I'm a year older than you John and I remember well the woolycaster, times have definitely changed. I really don't think that you can buy a genuinely awful guitar anymore, which is wonderful for us all. I have never owned a 'top notch' guitar and I never had those aspirations. For me that is wearing Nike when as long as the soles stay on jobs a good 'un. Like deployed 👍 😎🎙🎸✅
Pretty good bang for buck these Fazley Tele's. I got a used "Ash top" for 40 quid including a stand (same as the "exotic wood", but a thin veneer Ash top instead) and I also found a used Squier "Custom Tele P-90" loaded pickguard for 20,-. Filled and re-routed the Fazley body and slapped the Squier guard with the Duncan Design P-90's on. Superb guitar... Cost me 60,- for the whole shabang and I love this thing! Although the stock configuration was pretty good as well, the stock pu's were a bit thin sounding for my taste. But with the P 90's it's on steroids 🙂
If you don't mind the finish, this is a cheap guitar one can grow with. I mean as a player and your own simple stuff guitar tech. You can learn to mod with some quality parts online. I knew this would end up a charity guitar, but it's nice to see a guitar can be bought new for about $85 CAD.
The finish looks like a sheet of plywood but still looks sounds and probably plays a lot better than my hand me down Tiesco I started playing on as a kid. That was ages ago and it was in need of a new nut and that repair cost more than that whole guitar you have there.
John another Excellent Jam, how come so called Rock Stars are earning millions spewing out Garbage and you spank them all time and again sitting in your room in Redcar? - Something ain't right with this World - ain't that the Truth?
@@jimmyjames2022 I need to do an Upate on it but I need to do a lot of things tbh, I made all my vids in Lockdown and now I'm working I just can't be bothered afterwork or Weekends, I wish I had John's tenacity...Keep Rocking
As i said in my previous comments that "Exotic" finish is not for me. The worst part for me is that it does not sound at it's best played clean. Yes you can upgrade the pickups, but it would also need a new nut, tuners etc how far do you go? For me a guitar has to look desirable and sound good played clean, sadly this one doesn't. I think paying a bit more and just fitting better pickups would offer better value.
@@Codzilla71 I was once a beginner and tried to learn on a cheap guitar, and found it hard work until i bought a Yamaha Pacifica, at last i had a guitar that stayed in tune with a low action. Cheap guitars at best avoided until you can play and know how to upgrade them
Lovely jam, nice bargain! I'll stick to Harley Bentons for the moment. Well worth talking about these Fazley's tho as per your videos. I still wouldn't bother with a Glarry btw.
Yeah I decided before I saw John's vid to "push the boat out" and spend another tenner for the Ash Burl veneer top version and it doesn't give me flashbacks to Glastonbury 2001 every time I look at it lol. Also, bought it for a laugh and modding and still not got round to it as it plays and sounds not bad at all as John points out.
Sir, they are STILL £52 while most of the worlds guitar prices have soared as of May 2022. £57 delivered. 4 blocks not 3 saves cost.........and i expect the pickups are not great.... but oceans of far east factory's are banging out this similar quality.......i don't think HARLEY b's are any better but are double the price.
Reviewer "It's a beginner guitar" Translation: "It’s a piece of crap. Save some money, stop being cheap, and buy your kid a half-decent guitar instead."
@@JRobsonGuitar Well, John, I believe you did. Basically saying it is meant for a young lad to be played in his bedroom means it lacks the tuning stability and pick ups needed to play in a live situation. Upgrading these two aspects would probably run a person another 150 quid, so it is a better to shop used for a decent guitar at the 200 pound level.
Again, you're putting words into my mouth. It is a functional instrument, albeit built down to a price, that does what it sets out to do - to be a usable instrument for the budget conscioous novice. Many kids that begin to play guitar give up when they realise it's not for them. If that kid's parents have dropped £300 or so on a guitar, that's the kind of outlay that's going to sting. What I'm saying here is that there may be many reasons why a beginner may throw in the towel, but an unplayable guitar doesn't have to be one of them. Is it playable? Yes. Does it stay in tune? Yes. Does it sound OK? Yes. And yet somehow you interpret this as me saying it's a pile of crap.
@@JRobsonGuitar I wouldn't say it is putting words in your mouth. It's rather drawing natural conclusions from your statement. You would give it to a kid to muck around on in his bedroom but not use it for next paid gig. In that case, its not a very versatile instrument, is it? Why not buy a used Player strat for 300 and then sell it again for about the same price if the child does not take to the instrument? Makes more sense to me.

Don't know if you compose all them little mixes and solos yourself, but, every one of them that I've heard, is fantastic. Love watching.
Cheers mate. All my own work 👍
I see they have increased the price to £57 - must be on the back of your positive review John!!!
I know this video was about the guitar, but that solo was something else.

I bought one of these fazely telecasters it claimed a exotic wood veneer which was actually plastic!
Wow, that solo, John!
Fabulous start giving it welly, and talking about the neck a la Pacifica must be lovely for older folks. Is the Coyote the same?
Yes mate, pretty much 👍
You really do play some nice stuff John….👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻
Sounds well!

If I had a guitar half as good as that I would've thought the heavens opened compared to the dog I started on !
Thanks for your thoughts John, did you decide if the wood grain is real, or some kind of painted or plastic effect?
Looks like vinyl. You can by them on ebay.

I just don't like the look of the thing and £300 worth of upgrades is not going to change that.
I've paid over £300 for a set of pickups and still not had as much fun as John there , maybe they should charge £22 and you'd be happy ?

I had two Glarrys...just bought out of curiosity.
Once they had been set up and had a bit of fret work, they were decent guitars.
Just listening to you play on this dirt cheap guitar shows how much the make of the guitar is a lot less important than the skills of the guitarist.
But it's so ugly. Thank you Mr Robson for your presentations.
