I bought mine a couple of months ago, and im totally smitten. Its my first sports bike, and its in Martini Racing colours...so damn sexy! Plus the Termi pipes sound like cannons as you bang up through the gears 😀 Great review, too!
Thanks for taking the time to post the review matey . Going from my rsv4 factory to an 899.. my mate thinks I’m mad but I love the 899. Greetings from England :)
WeNeedASaga I’ve fallen in love with the looks of the 899. The 1199 would be a closer comparison to the rsv but it’s hell to ride in my opinion. The 1299 is much better but also lot more £££ even used ☹️
Nice choice! I bought one new about 14 months ago. You're the first person I've come across that shares my 'Muscle-Bike' call. FYI the 12k service was around $550. Nothing unusual found. Also, I found the stock grips far to hard / skinny, so went for some pro-grips. Ditto on the tank grips, must have to save your arms over-working.
Sweet new bike mate! I'm in Victoria getting my learners in January. We have a 3 year lams restriction here, what a pain! keep on producing the good content mate!
WeNeedASaga yeah NSW's laws make sense for people over 25. older, mature etc. I'm 30 and being treated like a 18 year old - Victoria is just a nanny state!
Sick bike man, love it. When I was buying a bike I was sold on the naked bikes, more comfortable, better for long rides and what not... but when it came to test driving oh man sport bikes! That being Said I think my next bike will be a bobber, thanks for the vid mate! Keep it up, peace
Didn't see that coming... Have you reviewed a Z1k? I had a quick scroll to see if I could see a video but couldn't spot anything. When I bought mine the mechanic at Canberra MC had one and rode it to work from Goulburn daily... Like you he had 6 and a half foot to ferry about and I am in total agreeance... It is a large person bike for sure... Plus with factory gel seat it's a bike you can have too much fun on and do too many kms on. Hence, didn't see a sports bike in your future... Stunning bike you got... Awesome sound track too. Jealous as...
Hm i can def hear the engine better on here... just sounds like a more refined harley which is ok i guess but not amazing.. frankly they should use inline 4 to match the exotic looks
Hey, I live in Adelaide. How's the heat on the seat & in general. I've seen like an add on top seat that has heat displacement affect. There are ways of cooling the engine down too. Might buy one, one day. Also looking at the Super sport, but it has different style. The heat worries me the most on 899 & I'm 5' 7", so the riding position too. But yeah, it's more than a bit of a stunner.
heat is fine! sure, you'll notice it in summer (especially in Adelaide - I've been there in summer a couple of times!), but I wouldn't say it's uncomfortable.
I have a 899 in Adelaide, and yes it does get quite hot in the saddle! The way the exhaust curves around is the culprit. I don't intend riding mine when its over about 32c
The bike fits you perfectly. I haven't yet had the chance to ride this beauty, I currently ride an m696. I'm about 5'7, do you think this would be a little too tall for me?
very nice review, i'm in a similar situation. currently own a cbr500 and looking to upgrade, being 6'4 i'm currently tossing up between the 675,899 and mt09/10. I was thinking exactly the same thing the other day about going with a sports bike while I'm young and can still handle the aggressive riding position and maybe move onto a naked bike in the future when my knees eventually give up. so i'm curious if you have looked into the matinence costs and how the 675 compares to the 899 with servicing and insurance?
Hey mate - great to hear there's another tall dude out there shopping for sport bikes ;) You've asked a few Q's there so I'll try and break it down... I didn't really look into maintenance costs, no... to be honest I just went with the heart. I am just speculating but i'd say the 675R will be similar to the 899 to service... similar amounts of labour required, both use premium components, etc. I can't comment on reliability comparison, i'd just be guessing. Insurance, not sure where you live but in Australia I'd say the 675R would be cheaper to insure because it's sticker price was a bit lower from the dealership and also because it's less cc's. In Australia you seem to get hit harder the larger the cc's. Having said that, I got quotes for Ninja 636's and R6's and they were only 5-10% less for me to insure than the 899, so who knows. Anyway sorry for the long reply, hope that helps. Hit me back with another message if there's anything else you want to ask.
I reckon it's a sick bike but maintenance ain't gonna be cheap considering that the engine is a part of the frame and it has to be dropped for any kind of major maintenance. Was reading a comment on a video from a Ducati motovlogger.
Just watched your lap at the Island! It's one of my dreams to take ANY car/bike around there, let alone the Panigale! That's bucket list stuff. Awesome :)
Congrats on the bike! You go for red or white? Since this video I've got the stompgrips on the tank which helps a lot with grip... I'd definitely recommend those. I'm not sure about the Termi's. I already need earplugs! Dropping a bit of weight would be nice but at the moment I really don't need any more power. Also, the Termis are like a $2.5k upgrade here and my wallet needs a bit of time to recover haha
Ha same the Termi's are great but a shocking price at the mo. I went for same as you (because it looks awesome) White all the way!! I'll look into those stomgrips. Keep up with the posts.
Wow what a spot ; fucking I;d give anything to have some countryside like that keep fucking American Democrats from messing it up. Still got it looking to buy one next week Nice Video Brother

Great choice tall man - loving the soundtrack it makes
USA = bike
Australia = byoouuiiike
tommy d u b b s haha, so you're enjoying the Aussie accent then? ;)
What a ripper! That power and noise though, insane.
keyboardheroics for a stock standard exhaust, it's ridiculous!
such a beatiful sound to listen to
Want to see more of the 899? Let me know what you'd like to see and i'll try and make a video about it...
Thanks for taking the time to post the review matey . Going from my rsv4 factory to an 899.. my mate thinks I’m mad but I love the 899. Greetings from England :)
oooh that is a brave move mate, hard to go past the RSV4! but I think the 899 power would be more manageable on the track and maybe less stressful?
WeNeedASaga I’ve fallen in love with the looks of the 899. The 1199 would be a closer comparison to the rsv but it’s hell to ride in my opinion. The 1299 is much better but also lot more £££ even used ☹️
What a beautiful machine! I just picked up my new 959 last week. These bikes are so much fun to ride, great video and looking forward to more :)
thanks mate - and congrats on the 959 - I love how they made the fairing wider on the 959 - big improvement over the 899!

Thanks for the heads up about the service! Congrats on yours!
Goddammit man now you got me browsing the local Ducati dealer. Sounds so sick
and with pipes on both sides level with your head you get this awesome "stereo" thing happening :)
Keep it up mate. Outstanding audio. Loved the video and the sound of that 899 😍😍😍
thanks so much!
Nice choice mate quite a upgrade.
fenwick ross thanks mate. yeah It's definitely got a few more ponies than the ol' 500...
Nice, nice. I have a 1299 Panigale and gf has a Monster .. understand your comments about riding position.
MmeDesgranges 1299 and a Monster, living the dream! :)
Sweet new bike mate! I'm in Victoria getting my learners in January. We have a 3 year lams restriction here, what a pain! keep on producing the good content mate!
Brendan Inglese thanks for the kind words Brendan! yeah we've got the 3yr P's in NSW too but luckily it reduces to 1yr P's if you're over 25
WeNeedASaga yeah NSW's laws make sense for people over 25. older, mature etc. I'm 30 and being treated like a 18 year old - Victoria is just a nanny state!
yeah that is just silly!

paul czislowski yeah it's a tough call between naked and sports - so many good options... get what makes you smile, right? :)
Happy to see you're looking after it and enjoying it. We'll have to meet up again for a cruise. :)
Sounds good mate 👍

thanks mate. yeah the big capacity naked bikes really appeal to me too. there's so many good options out there at the moment in the sports segments...
Fly on Tank: *My Ducati*
What do u think about the bike now after 3 years ?
love it dude, you made a great choice. Thanks for uploading sir
Rocketman Luke thanks for checking out the vid! :)
yep that bike suits you to a tee buddy :) enjoy that beast. Shame the DRZ had to go, but it makes sense in the end.
thanks dude, will do :)
will miss the DRZ. I see another one in the future somewhere. Probably 2026 when the design is still exactly the same ;)
Fantastic video ❤❤❤❤

You must be 13 years old.
@@Dranreb865 I’m your father
damn what a beauty! congratz and ride safe!
Chris S. cheers! will do!

@@WeNeedASaga thanks mate. What other bikes did you look at before buying the duc. What was your 2nd & 3rd choice.
I think the Kawasaki 636 is a great bike - it was just too small for me. If you don't mind a naked bike, I really rate the Street Triple too
I have a 899 in Adelaide, and yes it does get quite hot in the saddle! The way the exhaust curves around is the culprit. I don't intend riding mine when its over about 32c
The bike fits you perfectly. I haven't yet had the chance to ride this beauty, I currently ride an m696. I'm about 5'7, do you think this would be a little too tall for me?
I think you might need to tiptoe at a stop, but once you're moving and your feet are on the pegs I think you'd be very comfortable!
I am 5ft6 I have one and I tiptoe, but still manage it fine and this is my first big bike. Love it

MyRandomLife247 I'll have to just ride it to the cafe to make sure nothing breaks ;)
How tall are you?
How much did you pay for it 😊
Wish I had the white too. I missed out by 1 day on the last white 899 sold in Oz. Check my channel for a lap of the island onboard. Happy riding bud!
Just watched your lap at the Island! It's one of my dreams to take ANY car/bike around there, let alone the Panigale! That's bucket list stuff. Awesome :)
Nice!
Congrats
cheers! :)
Just brought one myself. Is there anything you have done to it yet? Feel i need a Termi on it.
Congrats on the bike! You go for red or white?
