  • Hey all,
    Here's a room tour of my university room at KCL in Julian Markham House accommodation.
    I am currently in my first year at university studying Philosophy.
    I have a unite students en-suite so it will look similar to other uni Unite student accommodations.
    Hope you enjoy,
    Anna Eve x

    I’m thinking of applying at KCL for philosophy this year for 2021 entry. I’d love to get your opinions on the course at Kings, commuting for lectures and seminars from your accommodation, and just generally how it’s been studying philosophy at Kings? It would also be amazing to know how admissions went for you as well - what you’re GCSEs were, what your predicted grades were and what offer you ended up getting? (if that’s okay with you obviously!) Sorry for the bombardment of questions- it’s so difficult to find ppl who study philosophy ahahah.
    The room tour was also super helpful btw :)

      Jasmine A heyy!! I am considering making a video answering these questions and a few others I have received. I actually didn’t get the entry grades (A,A,A) but I was accepted with A,A,B. I hope I am able to answer all your questions in a following video:)) x

    Heyy what residence is this? I’m looking at KCL accommodation and wondered how you find this and what’s the social life like?

      Lucy Varma Hey, it’s Julian Markham House ☺️☺️ well obviously you’re in London so you’ve got lots of choice for clubs which is good and there always events on. I would says actual kings college isn’t that good for party life in terms of the uni providing events and things. But most people go to guys bar on a Wednesday night and I think lots of people go to Dover Castle on Friday - it’s just like what a lot of people tend to do. I think it’s definitely not as good as places like Leeds and Bristol but there’s so much to do and choose from. As long as you buy tickets in advance for events it’s not too expensive. But London can obviously be quite a lot more than most other places for going out. I feel like people who like to party and go out will find people who like the same and same for people who don’t as much. If your flatmates don’t like going out I just suggest you find people in the halls who like to as there’s always people who pretty much go out every day. Theres also stuff that the residence ambassadors organise, like a pizza night on the first night and we had Art night and tea tox etc. Also Julian Markham is so close to a spoons (like 5 mins) and about 10 mins walk from Ministry of Sound :) hope this helps xox

    Are their more modern rooms in Julian Markham or traditional ones?

    Regarding KAAS, I’d love to be able to go to Julian Markham House. How are you able to maximise your chances of getting it? It’s my favourite accommodation and I’m from a very low income background, so I would be eligible for KAAS. It’s one of the closest KAAS accommodations to the medical campuses plus it has en suite!! It just seems much mite modern and spacious compared to the other accommodations. The others seems to have less storage space etc too from what I can see. Can you help me out?
    I’d also be eligible for the King’s Living Bursary which is like £1600 per year. Would you feel that this and KAAS would make it somewhat affordable to live in London?

      @annaeve1326  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ryan Jones Hey I have talked a bit about KAAS in my latest video. You must apply within the deadline for KAAS and write a mini personal statement explaining why you would like it. As I explained in my other video, I applied too later for KAAS the first year I applied to uni so I deferred my offers and reapplied as I didn’t think I could manage the costs of uni life. Everyone who’s parents earn under a certain income automatically get the Kings Living bursary (without applying) as long as you send all the info to student finance for your maintenance loan. It was definitely helpful having a bit of extra cash to he with food cost and extra curricular activites :)) hope this helps x

    Did you move quite far from home? Also did you suffer from any home sickness? :)

      I live in Devon so I moved about 3-4 hours away. I didn’t suffer from any homesickness but living in London can get lonely at times :)

    Lovely room 💜 How much do you pay for it, do you know if it is expensive compared to other student accommodations?

    • @annaeve1326
      @annaeve1326  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you💕 it’s around £275 per week for this accomodation however, Kings do a scheme called KAAS which helps students who are worried about affording accomodation. I was able to apply for KAAS which meant I got this for £169 per week. There are a few of the Kings accomodations which you can recieve KAAS for. There are a few cheaper accomodation options at Kings but they are super popular and get snapped up quickly so be prepared to spend a bit more of you don’t get your first choice 💜 hope this helps x

      Anna Eve is the acceptance rate into the KAAS scheme high? Or is it quite competitive??

    • @annaeve1326
      @annaeve1326  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      hussein zaaiter get your application in early but I think it’s pretty high. There’s something like 900 KAAS places and I applied after the deadline in 2018 so didn’t get it but I took a gap year and reapplied to KAAS in 2019 early and got it:)

      Anna Eve thank you for the information and is the scheme just for first year or is it also for returning second and third year students?
